Edgerunners is such an absurdly better story than the story of the game. The story of the game is so fucked and limp in concept and execution, despite trying to be so much more elaborate and high concept than edgerunners. Edgerunners understood the core of how stories work in a way the game didn't at all.

This is why there's a lot of similarity in them, the plot to get the corpo exec shot down in Elysium is done very similarly to how V and Panam do it in the game. Johnny Mnemonic has the Konpeki Plaza heist, the shard in the head, etc. Edgerunners to my knowledge, had much more freedom and wasn't based off any missions from the table top game. I do agree it was a much better arc and would have made for a funner game with more personality than what we got with the game.
