no more Odyssey bait threads with retarded brownoids falling for them, no more please, i can't take it anymore, my mind is unwinding and the body breaks

Honestly, I don't care about it. It's clear that Nolan is attempting a strange, free adaptation with a bunch of artistic liberties. On the other hand, when I think of a director who can create something unique with striking art direction, Nolan isn't at the top of my list.

90 percent of this board is now just catty-gay-guy-tier limp wristed attempts to control an argument by carefully switching words around to try and make it seem like the other side of any given argument is more upset than (you) are
As someone who has no particular strong feelings either way about the Odyssey, this opening post makes OP look very gay and discredits his entire side of the argument for normal people like me

there are so many chinks in their armour that everything is irelevent.

Medieval helmet like the ones they are wearing worked because wearers had chain metal coif under them to protect the neck. Bronze is brittle, swords were only used for stabbing against unprotected parts of armour, while heavy axes were used as blunt force weapons, so protection had to be heavy.
>>
>>220569298
Like modernistic architecture, the way Hollywood portrays period pieces these days is depression-inducing. Perhaps deliberately so!
>>
>>220568186
Did they have plastic armour in Classical Greece?
>>
>>220568453
faggot
>>
>>220568877
nta but they surely didn't use it to mass produce full suits of armor. They didn't have the crafting tools to make good quality steel in the first place, best they could do were small items and weapons.
>>

I started reading the Odyssey and everyone constantly refers to Poseidon as an "Earth Rocker". I don't get it, he isn't even a musician.

He could have gone full art-deco, drug-induced fever dream like Immortals, and I would not have batted an eye.

As I see it, it stands in the uncanny valley of 'I want gritty and grimy and realistic without any of the constraints and expectations of internal consistency that should go with it,' which bothers me to no end.
>>
>>220570135
its foreshadowing for the reveal that it was actually set in the far future in space
>>
>>220570248
Agreed, but I think the final version looks worse than uncanny valley: it looks cheap as fuck. Every shot seems like some made for TV movie from the Power Rangers era.

>>
1. It looks terrible and drab. Why is it dark, grey, and colorless? Classical Antiquity (and most other historical settings like Egypt, China, the Romans, Japan, the Aztec etc) was colorful as fuck, especially Bronze age Greece with the Minoans and Troy and shit

2. It bears zero resemblance to the historical setting it's depicting or the culture it's pulling from. Why even adapt the material in that case?

>>220570135
He's associated with earthquakes, the Aztec had the same thing going on with some ties between certain water and earth gods/monsters
>>
>>220568877
The majority of people still believe in the rigid "copper-bronze-iron-steel" age progression and it's retarded school programs we have to thank for that.
>>
Interstellar was the last Nolan movie I enjoyed. I didn't watch Tenant, but after hearing it was crap, I decided a wait and see approach with all future Nolan movies. Oppenheimer looked like ass, so I don't have any hope for Odyssey. Like all good directors, I think Nolan finally hit the wall.

I think he does good with high concepts, dreams, space, memory, time etc. But he absolutely has to have a solid script. I bet its no coincidence that the last movie his brother wrote with him was Interstellar. I think his brother is the reason the scripts were good. I don't think Nolan can write.
>>
>>220571282
Tenet was... a better movie for home than cinema honestly. It doesn't always explain what it's doing very well and the fucked up audio was an interesting creative decision with terrible practical consequences but the whole thing has a solution to it that makes you go "huh, that's neat" once you get it. It isn't really a "high IQ" life changing reveal nor anything hidden, but I needed to watch it at home for it to actually click with me, in cinema I was slightly confused and feeling like not all plot points were adressed properly.
I liked it's handling of time travel magic bullshit much more than Interstellar for what it's worth.
I fully expect the Odyssey to be shit though.

can these threads about Nolan's Odyssey be just posts saying "don't care, won't watch."?

There is literally anything to discuss about the movie and Nolan won't change anything. This way you can piss off more the jeet paid shills and the jewish advertisers.
>>
>>220571184
>>220568877
Calling it overly rigid is already being generous

It's got some value maybe solely as a labeling system for specific periods of European and Near Eastern history, but it's entirely horseshit when you try to use it as a system of how societies advance/develop over time, especially for other parts of the world

EX: The Mesoamericans in Mexico/Guatemala, even before they had any metallurgy (tho they did eventually develop bronze smelting) had cities as big or bigger then Eurasian Bronze age ones and on par with Classical and Medieval cities, while there were some African cultures that independently developed iron and steel metallurgy without having invented Bronze at all, and which still lived in simple villages
