With the benefit of hindsight, we know this was debris from a plane crash caused by a distracted Air Traffic Controller. That being said, when we initially see this flashforward, did Vince Gilligan know that? Why would the police be stuffing a teddy bear and other debris into a bag that says evidence? Who needs evidence? The air traffic controller was distracted. There's not investigation here.

>>220568384You mean morally worst, or the worst writing?
>>220568222>Why would the police be stuffing a teddy bear and other debris into a bag that says evidence?Do you know what the NTSB is? Do you know what they do, how long it takes or how they interface with local law enforcement?

>>220568972It's the body that, among other things, investigates passenger plane crashes in order to understand their causes, contributing and mitigating factors. They are meticulous to a fault and will lay out full size reconstructions of the planes using the wreckage they recover at the crashsite/debris field to understand to the best of their capability the configuration of the plane prior to impact. Since debris fields often get distributed over areas that are populated they will work with local law enforcement to keep bystanders from moving or altering parts of the wreckage/cargo so they have the most accurate state of the plane immediately after impact. To assist with this it's not uncommon for them to use evidence bags like that or other markers to designate the position of hardware that moved or had to be moved for one reason or another so that data isn't lost before NTSB workers get to it to take note or take custody of it. This can take days to weeks depending on the severity of the crash and the size and complexity of the debris field so these items may be tagged, bagged and had their original position designated so they could be gathered up and left somewhere convenient for NTSB workers to pick up when they get to that area of the grid.Pic related, one of the reconstructions they cobbled together with hardware pulled out of the atlantic after the TWA800 crash.
