>His advantage: my injury. My advantage: his rage. Incoming assault feral but experienced. Use momentum to counter.
discombobulate
>>220570181why didnt he just call over watson to kick his ass
>Come now. You really think you're the only one who can play this game?
>>220570240it didn't occur to him. that's the actual answer lol
If sherlock was as good as they say he would've won the fight without retcons
>>220570605the ending is true to the books, more or less
decent movie, great scene
>>220570339this very second was the greatest anime moment ever filmed in live action
These movies were my guilty pleasure, retarded but fun
The Final Problem is one of the few well-known Holmes stories I never read. What exactly was Moriarty's goal besides "just do more crime"? Blofeld was trying to create a new world government so that at least made sense.
>>220570240Watson was busy trying to find the would-be assassin
>>220570715Never read any but In the movie moriarty was going to plunge Europe into war while controlling the industry.
>>220570676They are way more clever than anything else in theaters.
>>220570240Wouldn't work in context or fit the theme of the movie and the character's development.
Moriarty's fucking superpower is that he doesn't just let Holmes script himself to victory every time. How is that interesting? How did Sherlock Holmes even get popular? Trash series that Doyle didn't even want to write.
It's annoying that 3 is stuck in development hell, but I'm not sure how they could follow up/top Game Of Shadows.
>>220570659Kek, but true
>>220570219step 2: reDISCOMBOBULATEcombobulate
>>220570745the reason theyre fighting is more arty lost & watson captured the filthy gypsy
>>220570856Entertainment was wanting in thas little as a decade ago. I remember no internet, it was shit. Network tv and even basic cable could be dull. Books that were mildly exciting were a treasure.
>>220570796didnt stop them from adding all the gypsy crap
>>220570952My bad, it's been a long time since I saw it.
>>220570981its ok i still love you
>>220570964>Entertainment was wanting in thas little as a decade ago.In 2016?
>>220570914What,?
>>220570715If you've seen the BBC series, that portrayal of Moriarty is much more thematically in line, even if it's almost an entirely different character in every other regard. The movies tease this idea, but I'll explain; Moriarty is effectively just Holmes. There is no major difference. The point of The Final Problem (and A Game of Shadows) is to draw out the differences surrounding the main protagonist and antagonist, and I use those terms specifically because they are objective, literary points of view, rather than "Hero" or "Villain" neither of which apply to Holmes or Moriarty.Holmes is bored. Frequently portrayed as such, and his morality is teetering, to the point where he actually may well be a criminal (and actually does dabble in criminal activity) if not for certain people in his life, specifically Mycroft, but of course later on, Watson. To that end, Moriarty's goal is no different from Holmes'; to satiate his boredom. If Holmes had befriended Sebastian Moran, there can be no question he'd be the "Napoleon of Crime".
>>220570971That doesn't affect either.
>>220571104>The point of The Final Problem (and A Game of Shadows) is to draw out the differences surrounding the main protagonist and antagonistAs literary points of view? The protagonist is typically the savant detective who puts all the clues together, while the antagonist is the dumb criminal who didn't cover all of his tracks.Moriarty's only apparent similarity to Holmes is that the script is flipped and Moriarty gets to effortlessly catch up to Holmes all the time, effectively taking the protagonist's power. Then they kill each other. Except Holmes lives.
>>220570181This is unironically Guy Ritchie's greatest movie
>>220571241Cmon. It's good, but greater than Snatch?
>>220571281Its tied for 1st with Snatch and Lock stock
>>220570981>>220570995The actual reason is because he was (presumably) chasing after Moran, who in turn assassinated the would-be assassin. Also like I mentioned earlier, the theme of the film is Holmes learning to let go of Watson. He wouldn't call for him to confront Moriarty directly, especially after the latter made a point of acknowledging him (Watson).
>>220571189>As literary points of view?In the sense that a Protagonist is not necessarily a Hero, nor an Antagonist a Villain, or vice versa. Protagonist is a POV for the reader (or viewer) typically, even if the narrative isn't actually written or narrated from said character's literal point of view, e.g. The Final Problem itself. This is what I meant by distinguishing, since a lot of what has to do with A Game of Shadows (and less so with The Final Problem, because it wasn't as dramatic and just a short story to wrap up the character) and the study of Holmes as a Protagonist, who evolves into a Hero.
>>220571337at the moment holmes jumps watson walks in/towards him and they lock eyes it was unnecessary and then they walk it back which is whatever but i think in general the friendship breakup drama just detracts from the films (s because they already did that shit to death in 1)
