Is stylized lighting really becoming a lost art?
The people who want to do it aren't allowed to or aren't in positions where can. The people in the production level keep demanding the 'cinematic blue' look because shit gets done by committee on almost every project.

Some actors will even stop the scene and verbally berate them if they're in their line of sight while the scene is going. I know one actor who even threatened to tear down the lights and walk off the set unless the lighting guy was fired.

Why would someone think live action Avatar is a good idea? Finding decent child actors who are also martial artists, and then good special effects to make it work would be a nightmare
The switch to digital cameras and digital effects led to an industrywide brain drain when it comes to lighting that is only now being noticed and worked to improve after youtubers and shit rightfully started shitting on everything. It's literally a lost art that has to be rebuilt.
