Kind of sad how they handled Batista at the end and prater seems he could’ve been used more in another season at least. Also it’s still missing the side characters and plots like the original had now that it’s a whole different location but it’s still pretty good and more similar vibe to before season 8 and new blood

I'm gonna be real. I think the Dexter books are better. It sorta feels like the entire TV show fanbase has never read the books. The book version of Dexter is more of an American Psycho parody of a parody. The TV version is "likeable" and "human" when the whole point is that the character of Dexter is faking it all the time. The whole reason Doakes is onto him is that Doakes is a monster, too. Doakes always finds ways to kill people and magically get away with it, and he can sense what Dexter really is.

The TV show version of Dexter stopped following the books at all after the first season. They're still arguably cribbing ideas but they've gone in this whole other melodramatic direction.

I liked that they jumped the shark in a john wick universe type of way, where this new city doesn't feel like a real place anymore, having so many active serial killers getting away with it so easily.
Also I liked they leaned towards more humor this time too, like the dark passenger being a vegetarian
