The trailers make the movie look like a live action version of one of the cartoon shows, and that's basically what Mandalorian became in Season 3. As soon as Baby Yoda got a robot suit and Gus Fring came back for the third time with another evil plan to conquer the Galaxy before being defeated again, this show became less Lone Wolf & Cub and more Space Superhero With Cute Alien Sidekick.

Season 3 was just Bo Katan girlbossing while Mando stood to the side nodding supportively. It eroded what little goodwill I still had after BoBF and forcedly keeping Yeed with Din Djarin when it made no thematic sense and stagnated the show.

I think the original plan must have been to do an anthology, you'd have mixed series of individual Mandalorians, Din Djarin on his own, then Boba Fett on his own, then Bo Katan on her own. But then when Boba Fett without Din Djarin sank like a rock some MBA said "shit, shit, plug Din Djarin back in, quick", not realising that it sucked because it sucked, not because it didn't have Din Djarin. So then they did season 3, which should have been Bo Katan on her own reclaiming the throne, but instead it was Bo Katan reclaiming the throne, with Din Djarin spudged in awkwardly. And as a result it too sucked, because the problem was never an absence of Din Djarin, the problem was shitty fucking writing and too much executive overreach.

The recent Maul show that came out, I have a theory that was originally intended to be Rook Kast's adventures with Maul and the Shadow Collective, and then after they kept fumbling the ball someone decided to just spin it off into a cheaper CGI animation of Maul's adventures with the Shadow Collective, while Rook Kast is also there. It was a good show, it would have been great in live-action.
