Fellowship is a perfect 10, the others 9/10.
>>
>>220575390
They're a far right fantasy and need a readaption ASAP and deleted from existance.
>>
honestly i don't care about the sequels all that much. the first one is one of my favourite movies of all time. when the fellowship breaks both storylines become really dull. there are some cool scenes here and there, but overall i just find them rather dull. It's also the sequels that have all the cringe shit like legolas surfing on a shield, dogshit quips during the battle scenes etc. And really the only part of the whole sam, frodo and gollum journey i enjoy is the swamp scene.

I could watch Fellowship a thousand times but I never look forward to watching the sequels.
>>
>all LOTR movies were filmed before the year 2001
The second millennium's last gift to us.
The 3rd millennium has been absolute dogshit.

Boring elf-shit for nerds. Real men watch Conan.
>>
Return of the King's editing is honestly terrible
>>
Didn't care for the ghost army stuff
>>
>>220575390
mid if you read the books
>>
I think I rewatched ROTK just once. Also I don't approve the whole Legolas-Gimli shenanigans in The Two Towers during The Battle of Helm’s Deep, ruins the mood.
>>
>>220577962
Counting their kills is book accurate. But yes, multiple back to back jokes about Gimli being short, followed by Legolas doing radical cowabunga moves on a shield was too much.
>>
I cry during Fellowship during Boromir's Death.

I cry during Two Towers when Theoden is mourning his dead son.

I don't cry during Return of the King.
>>
The Siege of Gondor sucks because they made the whole area around it an arid wasteland so it would be easier to animate the orcs.
>>
>>220575390
WOKE TRASH
>>
>>220578024
>My friends... you bow to no one
I cry everytime.
>>
I prefer the standard cuts. Sue me.
>>
>>220578061
I like it but doesn't draw tears from me.
>>
>>220575390
It seems almost miraculous how good they are considering how quickly they shot and edited all three movies.
>>
>>220578064
I'd agree if not for a few scenes.

My perfect list would be Extended Fellowship, and then making sure to include the scene with Boromir and Faramir being bros in Osgiliath, the mouth of sauron and maybe a few more but most of two towers and return of the king's extended runtime could be cut down.
>>
>>220578081
Yeah this is my reasoning, like the extended cuts do have some scenes that I would’ve liked to have in the standard cuts, but imo there are also too many which don’t fit in that well and take up too much time.

I am also a big book fan so I’d love to see a longer and more “true” version of the story, but it would have to be in a tv-show format for it to work. That’s why I like the flow and pacing of the modified Peter Jackson og version.
>>
>>220576949

The orc cleansing ghost army was Jackson's biggest fumble. ROTK would have been so much better had Gondor reinforcements arrived on those ships with Aragorn like in the book. Jackson basically robbed men from the victory at Pelennor Fields.
>>
I am no longer able to force myself to watch Two Towers and Return of the King.
The feel like a slog with no wonder component that made Fellowship so great.
In Fellowship we go from peaceful green hills of Hobbiton to rainy dirty Brill, to swampy Eregion, to beautiful autumn Rivendell, to snowy peaks of Caradhras, to dark mines of Moria to golden Lothlorien to forests of Anduin.
In Towers it is just grass steppes for 3 hours.
Same with Return.
And the characters barely travel, they just talk and fight.
Surely story beats are here but between them are rather boring parts.
Fellowship feel the only one worthy of watching.
It is 10/10, while TT and Return are like 6/10.
>>
>>220575390
fellowship is an 8/10

TT and ROTK are 5/10 and that's me being charitable by the fact I grew up with them
>>
>>220578024
Really? Not even when the hobbits say goodbye to Gandalf and frodo?
>>
>>220577952
I read the books and I like the movies more.
>>
>>220578109
I disagree.
The ghost army was the last narrative and thematic check Aragorn had to go through to prove he's the rightful king.
It was a test to see if he would use "unnatural" power to achieve his goals. And he relinquished it willingly and fulfilled his part of the bargain fairly.
To make a point that such power was willingly given away, despite the fact he could've used it more if he wanted to, is important to his arc in the movies. He generally at that point in the movies just runs around and fights stuff and little else. So that bit just serves to show what he's made of. It also contrasts nicely with the start of the Fellowship where Isildur refuses to let go of a supernatural power, which dooms him.

How come they didn't see the absolute lameness of the scene during the production?
>>
there's room in my heart for the two towers and return of the king because they meant something to me as a kid but they are honestly awful movies(and abysmal adaptations). not hobbit-tier terrible but still pretty bad
>>
>>220578179
I played out the book version of the battle several times in total war trying to imagine it on screen. Its such a long battle its hard to get it all in within the confines of a movie when you have so many other things going on.
>>
Dunno why Chris Tolkien didn't like them so much
>>
>>220578346
Because he wasn't a cvck who loved girlbosses.
>>
>>220578219
it's a fucking mess of a battle and the movies omitted many characters who are central to it, there was no reason to attempt anything closer to the book than what they managed. There's the outer wall rammas echor getting sieged by Aragorn and the Prince of Dol Amroth somehow sallies out of Minas Tirith and meets Aragorn and Eomer in the middle of the battle surrounded by haradrim.
>>
>>220576921
>I-I-I'm totally not a fag
ok bro
>>
>>220578663
Glorfindel didn't save Frodo, Arwen did. K whatever. Eowyn killed the Lich King, Tolkien wrote that. So what's your problem, Chris?
>>
>>220575390
6.5/10
>>
Only the Fellowship is good, the rest are protocapeshit
>>
They robbed us of Dol Amroth.
>>
>>220576949
>>220578109
Also could have been visually better if they hadn't made relatively last minute changes to the army of the dead because Oh no, Pirates of the Caribbean undead ship crew did it first. They didn't need to be glowing green and transparent and able to phase through everything
>>
>>220579061
Dafaq, that was literally my phrase
>>
>>220578163
It didnt feel like a test at all in the movie, its just gimli mumbling that theyre handy to have around.

also he fails his test by killing the mouth
>>
>>220578163
He passed the test when he went to Black Gate though. Hard to beat that.
Also in the book he proved to have hands of the healer and was acclaimed by people of Gondor.
>>
>>220575390
3 hours a pop is tough... am i gonna be pogging the whole time?
i saw Excalibur and that was cool, i'd say it was worth watching but that was 1 hour shorter
>>
>>220578024
Am I the only one that gets tear eyes during theoden charge?
Like I dont care for deaths as much, I feel bad when boromir or haldir die, but things like last hail mary charges for sake of helping your ally and dying on your own terms gets me everytime, breaveheart also do the same shit to me.
>>
>>220579363
I always cry during the ride of the rohirrim desu
>>
>>220575390
The first movie is good. The others are anywhere from boring to bad until the final montage ending.
>>
>>220576949
I still have no idea how it's rated the highest in the series with that baffling deus ex machina plot element
