Why does this upset autistic people so much?
>>220578181>b-but chudda it's a fanfic poem it's not supposed to be realistic
not this shit again
>>220578229How new are you guys? Nolan's release amasses midwit gatherings as far as the eye can see. It doesn't matter the subject.
>>220578144>It has been noted that the terms used to put men in the horse are those used by ancient Greek authors to describe the embarkation of men on a ship and that there are analogies between the building of ships by Paris at the beginning of the Trojan saga and the building of the horse at the end; ships are called "sea-horses" once in the Odyssey. Into the 2010s, this view gained support from naval archaeology; ancient text and images show that a Phoenician merchant ship type decorated with a horse head, called hippos ('horse') by Greeks, became very diffuse in the Levant area around the beginning of the 1st millennium BC and was used to trade precious metals and sometimes to pay tribute after the end of a war.It was a boat.
WERE
>>220578250And then they dragged the boat into the city?Even if they did, why would greeks assume they'd do that in the first place?
YOU
THERE
>>220578250I WANNA SEE THE BOAT MOVIE
>>220578207>IT SHOULD LOOK BAD, CHUD!!!!why apologists have no standards?
>>220579395It looks good?
>>220579475It clearly doesn't
>>220578250>yeah so according to this interpretation the use of a comma next to phallic looking letters indicated a literal interpretation of the proposition two sentences below in certain circles in AlidopadopoulousHoly shit historyfags are the biggest faggots on the planet. Get a life and start saying shit that matters you fucking retards.
>>220579519Yep. It has to look good and make sense. And it doesn't
>>220578250why would they bring in a boat through their city gates instead of a harbor?
>>220578227Fun fact, the trojan horse isn't in the illiad, and is only mentioned in passing in the odyssey. The illiad ends with the funeral of hector since its a story about the wrath of achilles and not the war itself.
>>220578250How did the soldiers hide in a boat? It seems much more likely for their opposition to not check the inside of a massive ornamental statue than the inside of a large boat.
>>220578227Oh well if it's fantasy then everyone should just drive around in cars then
>>220580043That's not how Fantasy works retard, unless you unironically believe that Gandalf should be driving a Ferrari to Mordor because it's fantasy.
>>220578144The Trojan horse is only mentioned briefly in the Odyssey and doesn't appear in the Iliad. It's described more in the Aeneid (Roman) where they got direct help from Minerva (Athena) and it was built by the master craftsman Epeius and it's suppose to look like a flawless offering the Trojans would accept. The Troy version is actually less in line with the myth but it looks more realistic and what it might look like if people back then built it.
>>220580060That's my fucking point you cunt
>>220579492Try explaining why
>>220580076Except your point is bullshit. The story of the Trojan Horse involves the Trojans thinking that the Greeks brought them a gift of reconciliation in the form of a giant wooden horse statue. Making the horse statue that is supposed to be something the Trojans would actually want to bring into and display in their city look well-built and nice is at least relatively logical. If it looked like a rickety piece of shit, why would they want to keep it?I don't even think the OP Nolan horse looks particularly good. It doesn't even look like it's made of wood, it looks like metal or some nebulous CGI or foam prop instead of a wooden horse - but the idea that the Trojan horse looked like a well-made and detailed statue isn't even a hundredth as stupid or fantastical as the notion that they should have cars. It fits perfectly fine in the realm of greek fantasy.
>>220578144I hope Mia Goth looks cute in this. :)

>>220578207>why are people having an opinion and expressing an opinion if it's bad they should only be allowed to praise movies goshwhy are you such a fag?
>>220580391yes but the roman fanfic writers most likely had access to the complete epic cycle instead of the fragments we're left with so it's reasonable to assume it followed the source material relatively closely + Virgil wasn't a complete fucking hack unlike Ovid
>>220580343The faggot has spoken.
>>220578181>quicklywho said this? they were fighting for 10 years, why would they need to make the horse quickly?
>>220580454Because the reason they claim it’s bad is retarded. The myth doesn’t say “the Trojan Horse was some rushed, half-assed thing slapped together in a night that looked like crap.” It just says it was built of wood from ships. There’s no reason to think a Greek myth wouldn’t feature a grand, epic horse rather than a gay-looking piece of crap. It’s literally anti-mythic and historically deconstructive crap.
>>220579846It's in the Aeneid
>>220578144why is nolan's horse next to a highway overpass
>>220580458>most likely had access to the complete epic cycle instead of the fragmentsIt's also why the Aeneid is good up until book 4.
>>220580249Looks completely out of place sculpture instead of something that can be reasonably build on the shore as an offer to the gods before running away
>>220580505you're right. is being on its hind legs mythological or not?
>>220580548Shrinking a legendary object into something mundane for the sake of realism works against the mythic power of the image. >>220580691why hasty. the plan was you bested us now here's a horse. you can't really hastily retreat while breaking down ships and making a giant wooden statue
>>220578144the trojan horse wasn't actually real btw. and it's more believable that a city would let in the odyssey's horse than the one below, since it's an ugly chunk of wood. there are 2 interpretations to the myth, one that it's made out of leftover ships, and another that it's genuinely a gift from athena. nolan went with the 2nd option
>>220580683It looks retarded.I don't need to explain why it looks retarded, since aestheticism is self evident. The Greeks understood it and that's why their tales and sense of aestheticism have survived for thousands of years.Meanwhile, you are a faggot tranny, who doesn't have a sense of aestheticism. You only desire to appreciate things that validate anything adjacent to what justifies your miserable existence, so you are unable to admit it looks gay and retarded. You are trying to find logic towards why it looks gay and retarded, but at the same time, you demand "real arguments" because you know that you can't find reality in your self imposed subjectivity.Which is standard behavior from someone who is both gay and retarded.
>>220580745I believe the horse represents an earthquake that fucked the walls up so the Greeks got in. Poseidon was on the side of the Greeks and he was the god of earthquakes and horses.
>>220580691The war took ten years, but for some reason they had to build the horse in one night? Nothing in the myths say it couldn't have been days, weeks, or longer. At Alesia, the Romans built the siege works in about a month.>>220580714Yeah, because I’m open to seeing other interpretations. >>220581249>>220581259>>220581356You’re not smart for using impossible-proof standards. Plans can succeed despite flaws. In fact, that’s how most things in history and war actually work. You could nitpick the other direction and say why would the Trojans even accept the ugly-ass horse from Troy? Your impossible-proof standard doesn’t explain why they’d drag some janky, ugly pile of wood into the city as a gift to the gods. If anything, making the horse more elaborate and horse-like is much more believable, because it looks like something they would see and think, “Yes, this is a worthy offering.”But I’m not a faggot, so I can accept both versions. You’re acting like the film has to present a perfectly undebunkable version of the horse in order to work, which is asinine.

>>220581498You can accept both versions because your standards allow you to change your definitions of logic at will if it suits your argument. One version is logical, the other version isn't. When faced with this fact, you then forget about the logical aspect and go into subjectivity. This is because you don't care about good faith arguments, just to validate your standards that are only applied when it suits you.
>>220578250This explains why Poseidon was also the god of horses.
>>220581362>why they’d drag some janky, ugly pile of wood into the city as a gift to the gods.bronze age objects of worship did not have to be "beautiful" or "realistic" in a representational sense. the thing that makes the horse notable is that horses are sacred to poseidon, not that it's necessarily very accomplished as an art object.
>>220581545>One version is logical, the other version isn't.No one version is more "realistic". The other is more mythic. That’s fine. Not every version has to optimize for realism. You’re more concerned with logistics, I’m more concerned with telling a good story because it's a MYTH and I don't want some pedantic hyerrealistic version

>>220581033Wouldn't all the points of why it'd be dumb to have an invading force inside the horse make for good logical reason on why the Trojans would be less supsicious of whether there were people inside thus making it more ideal for a subterfuge effort?

>>220582815>A dude rows for 10 years, fights monsters, and gets mindfucked by gods on the regular.>Achilles is basically a demigod who slaughters armies single-handedly.>Umm the acoustics of the horse probably would be too loud and it'd be pretty hot
>>220582989I notice how cuck boys like you can't stand on your feet any argument so you result to calling us non-white even though you know we are white. Brown people are not upset about this stuff. They are brown.
>>220583038Whatever you need to tell yourself to get through the day, ESL
>>220583067You must be an Israeli
>this is our last chance to win the war, let's make a giant wooden horse as a gift and hide soldiers inside it>make it quickly and don't ask any gods for help, make sure it looks like a complete pile of shit, they will definitely take it and not just burn it
>>220578144yeah im not watching this not even gonna pirate it. i honestly am starting to believe nolan wanted to retire but they wouldn't let him so now he's just driving this thing into the ground.
>>220583180>i honestly believe they wouldn't let the centimillionaire retire That's because you're mentally ill
>>220583199take your meds
>>220583199i don't get why you want this movie to succeed so badly but you do you i guess i am still not watching it. it'll be forgotten in 4 months tops.
>>220578144The top one doesn't look Greek at all. It looks like something Leonardo would do 1,000 years later. The bottom one looks like a Michael Bay Transformers version of a horse.
>>220583321Because he's a shill.its that simple. He has such a pathetic life he shills for billionaires in Hollywood to push the destruction of his own civilization
>>220583321I don't care if it succeeds.I'm just poking holes in your fake outrage.Because it annoys me
>>220583449No you are a bitch boy who gets down on for jew dick
>>220583467Why do you want me to be so hateful And angry dude like your anger is just completely unhealthy. And overblown, for what a fucking movie ?
>>220583467Calm down sweet cheeks. We know you're a tough guy.
>>220583449rattle rattle. still not watching it.
>>220583572Ok, but you will seethe about it online apparently
>>220583670sure why not.
>>220583670>movie could potentially really cool, the best of the year>it gets ruined with stupid bullshit>you're not allowed to say this on board that exists to talk about movies>i'm a Disney shill
>>220578181Lol. So true.
>We need to trick the Trojans into accepting a religious offering so we can sneak men inside the city.>Epeius, master craftsman, are you up to the task?>With the aid of Athena, I shall construct this sacred offering.Fixed it for you
>>220583743>The horse wasn't built using le heckin' science and historical accuracy>The movie is ruined
>>220583855true basedjak, so true. i like that we're friends.
>>220583855>The movie is a long series of shit decisions>But you can't point out any of these decisions individually because of my incredibly "witty" sarcasm
>>220578144You can literally see modern day welding beads in the top image. Nolan could not afford a script supervisor or something? What was he thinking????
>>220583572Fuck you, car keys! Broke ass nigga's "toys". Pic rel was the GOAT.
>>220583880Historical and scientific accuracy is the only argument anyone has>Helen of Troy wasn't black>Greek warriors in the Bronze Age didn't wear that armor>The ships look more Viking than Mycenaean >They wouldn't have spoken with a modern American accentNone of these legitimately ruins the film, unless you're perpetually online.
>>220583973and when it flops you're just gonna call peepo raycist for not liking it.
>>220583855i wasn't talking about the horse, i was talking about the general shittiness of the movie. but yeah if people want to criticize a film on a board made for that purpose, it is totally normal. i hope this film flops hard, go shill else where retard
>>220584054Ok and if I want to criticize their criticisms thats fine to
>>220584074you're criticizing criticism in general tho, which is dumb as fuck
>>220583973>Greek warriors in the Bronze Age didn't wear that armor>The ships look more Viking than MycenaeanThis actually does detract from the movie though. You have to be completely marvel-brained to think otherwise. In fact, people aren't even asking for the movie to be historically accurate. People just want it to actually invoke a FEELING of the Bronze Age, or the Bronze Age as you imagined it as a kid when you weren't as informed. 2004 Troy was rarely ever historically accurate but it still managed to create a feeling of something ancient. Everything I've seen from the Odyssey just looks plastic and so anachronistic that it's impossible to ignore
>>220578181But then how would the modern audience of 70 IQ brownoids high on corn psyrup know that"s supposed to be a horse?
>>220578144These both look like fucking shit. How hard can it be to make a CGI wooden horse?>>220578275>>220579784Delivering a small ship by land makes more sense for a diplomatic gift. It gives the Trojans the opportunity to launch it as their own boat with their own religious ceremony. If it shows up in water then it could have been cursed during the launching, or might be damaged from use. Also if it shows up in enemy harbour it could just get rammed and attacked. A boat also makes way more sense as a gift than a dumb horse because vessels that could carry dozens of men with cargo were very expensive back then. A wooden horse is only worth as much as the wood.
This board is nothing but hypocrites. When Troy came out you all hated it and constantly made fun of Diane Kruger being cast as Troy, Orlando Bloom's terrible acting and Brad Pitts cringe "HECTOR!" line, now you're all acting like its the best movie ever just cause you're all being chuds hating on Nolan.
>>220583506If you don't get mad about the loss of your people and civilization then you are faggot. Words can't explain my rage and I will never hate them and you enough.
>>220584121Not really. This feels less like a meaningful criticism of the movie and more like a lazy way to show off what you googled so you can feel smart. Historical epics were never expected to be 100% accurate.
are people seriously defending this pozzed tripe
I think it's ok to like things
>>220584225Believe it or not but I don't think this movie will cause the extinction of white people
>>220584230What? Did you read my post? Like at all? I literally just said that Troy from 2004 was rarely ever historically accurate but is still a good movie that invokes a feeling of an ancient period. I am not sure if it could have been spelled out any more clearly>more like a lazy way to show off what you googled so you can feel smartWhat does this even mean lol
>>220584332>What? Did you read my post?No because you're a faggot
>>220584286believe it or not i don't think raising the temperature a little bit will cook you, frog
>>220584236>peopletrannies
>>220584355You have brown IQ levels. Sorry about that bro and good luck
>>220584374*yawn*
>>220584332Troy had many nice touches of historyExamples>4 spoked chariot wheels>chariots used as transport only>boar tusk helmetsSomeone cared at least a little
>>220584371oh right the tranny queen is in it
>>220584286I don't think the total nuclear annihilation of india, israel and africa will result in any human lives being lost.so we agree there :)
so this is realistic mythos?
itt : people stumbling upon the fact that the trojan horse was dogshit writing 3000 years ago
>>220584185Troy was pretty average and everyone admits it. Now Kingdom of Heaven Director's Cut, that was a good film
>>220583038>even though you know we are white.Uhoh looks like poopdeep can't model other people's minds. Looks like a street shitter just lost his izzat
>>220584388Don't worry, you leave with a small victory here too. You may be genuinely low IQ, and you may be too much a shyguy to own up to it and that you said something genuinely retarded, but at least you successfully managed to ragebait me with your retardation too. I am genuinely fuming watching you squirm away from trying to defend wtf you even thought you were saying in this post >>220584230. You are valid >>220584405Yeah. And even in the parts that were entirely ahistorical, Troy still felt like it was created by people interested in the Bronze Age. Though I wonder if it's a generation thing. Maybe a zoomer genuinely sees those huge steel armors and think "yeah I know this isn't historically accurate but it feels suitably Bronze Age-like at least", just like we did for the ahistorical armours in Troy
>>220578181This would take Roman engineers (who could build seaworthy ships in a month) like 1 week.
>>220584856Ah yes, who can forget the famous contributions of the romans to the Trojan War.
