Honestly, didn't find the protagonist that likeable
Well, the problem with The Passion is that we don't hear Jesus preach and we don't see the good works that made him popular. Mad Mel wanted two hours of torture and nothing else.I'm an atheist, but I thought the film did a disservice to the Jesus story.
why he didn't use powers against them?
>>220579557As expected of Hollywood. You think they're going to let a genuine depiction of Jesus in their films? Best they can do is torture porn.
>>220579614I thought Mel was redpilled and based though.
>>220579630No celebrity is based. It's purely /pol/ wishful thinking.
>>220579254That's understandable, Jesus really subverts the expectations of what a glorious savior would be like. It's uncomfortable to witness a great person willingly open themselves up for humiliation in that manner and then be told that this is behavior we should emulate. And I can understand some of the frustration from his contemporary detractors at the time: Jesus in writing seemed to be a very skilled logician and orator who could slip out of any rhetorical trap laid out by those who challenged him. Yea. Still love the guy <3
>>220579569white wizard class. knows only healing and cleanse spells
>>220579790BasedMovie is still ass tho
>>220579254Why is Mel obsessed with Jesus when he hates literally everything Jesus stood for and believed in?
>>220579936He made twice as many movies about Joe Pesci being a loveable scumbag than he ever did about Jesus
The fact that a divine being can't truly suffer and that he was just pretending for the sake of the onlookers took a lot of tension out of the torture scenes.
>>220580860What do you mean can't truly suffer? What do you think the Garden of Gethsemane scene about?
>>220580860Also he didn't even die. So his great sacrifice was a relatively brief torture followed by a 3 day hiatus from his god duties.
>>220579614the crucificaion is literally THE focal point of christianity. you're wearing a god damn cross for a reason.the thought if having compassion for your enemies, allowing your own execution and redeeming the sins of all mankind are what sets it apart. otherwise it would've just been another "don't be a dick" preacher religion like we have dozens of already.
t. caiaphas
When i crashed my motorcycle I thought alot about how technically I suffered a lot more than Jesus ever did Took way more than 3 days I can tell you
>>220580912It was a performance for St Peter and Zebedee's sons, he was mentally preparing them for what they were about to witness.
>>220581079holy shit are you posting from the afterlife?be honest, were you a squid?
>>220581133Not a squidI was riding down the street at normal speed and some woman turned in front of mePowI only recently became able to walk without a cane again
>>220581101He was mentally prepared because he wasn't granted relief from above, taking two as a witness is old testament law since he followed those laws he took them to watch
>>220580992The crucifixion doesn't mean much without the sermons and miracles that came before. Any criminal or rabble-rouser could be crucified in the Roman Empire. The story takes its significance from the things Jesus did prior to the cross. And Mel didn't show those things.
>>220579254Kinda a big mouth right?
>>220579790>Jesus in writing seemed to be a very skilled logician and orator who could slip out of any rhetorical trap laid out by those who challenged him.well he was a jew after all
>>220580860It's more so the balls on those homosexual romans. You see this guy doing crazy shit and you nailed him to a stick and killed him so you could go kiss Barnebus and take loans from other less mouthy Jews.
>>220581427Pontius was a good boy, he dindu nuffin. He was just put in a difficult position.t. Mel Wallace
