What does /tv/ think of Do The Right Thing? Is it a>Red Pillor>Blue Pill?
it's weird black director makes a movie about black people and deliberately portraits them as stupid, lazy, unsuccessful and obnoxious
>>220583711It's telling how he openly states only White people ask if he did the right thing. Why don't black people ask? They don't even know what the right thing is.
>>220583629>Black guy throws garbage can through the window of the guy's shop who employed him despite multiple slipups and lateness>he's the hero
>>220583629>Everyone watches it and ges a nuanced view of race relations>Spike Lee flips out because it's supposed to be about how white people are evil and blacks are victims but because the blacks in the movie are such unlikable assholes he undermines his whole point and inadvertantly gives the movie nuance he never intended>seethes about how it doesn't win big awards at Cannes and gets BTFO by Driving Miss Daisy
It is kind of funny how it ends up feeling racist towards blacks when it's so obviously trying to do the opposite. I'm not sure how you fuck up that badly. I do like the movie's style, it's kind of fun and zany. The movie itself is like a 6, maybe a soft 7/10
>>220583629everybody says its a great movie. ive never seen it. maybe i should watch it?nah. i have odyssey threads to make/bump all night
This movie's legacy is Flava Flav turning into a coon act.
>>220584575I broadly agree with this. The first 3/4s really zip by. Then the blacks go apeshit and you realize the moral is like The Bear and The Scorpion.
>>220583629Why arent there any black people with the foresite to see they're being used like a angry mob? Demagogues like Al Sharpton use their own people to worm into power its nauseating. When will black people wake tf up
It’s like The Wire, it’s unintentional kino in its own enjoyable way.
>>220584575it's a true representation of pavement ape morality which is fundamentally incompatible with white morality. spike lee truly feels like the blacks are persecuted and victimized in a way that justifies any response
Was Radio Raheem genuinely autistic?
>>220584731foresight bro
it's been ages since i saw it but i thought it was great
>>220584731it's what Islamist preachers do in poor countries desu, it's not new. Just get the dumbasses angry and they'll go riot.
>>220584785shutuo!!!
It was a very comfy movie, great summer feels in a close knit community where everyone knows each other. And then they bulldozed the guy's restaurant. Its like the movie was showing me all these nicely crafted moments to appreciate black people and their culture and then at the way end it says "Oh btw don't forget that they are still chimp out niggers."
>>220584934no, you don't get it, he was racist, it's a happy ending
>>220584638it's definitely a good movie, just a little bewildering
>>220584948that's really the crazy thing for me. Was what happened at the end meant to be a good thing?
>>220585091it was meant to be virtuous, but still kind of sad because now they don't have food
>>220584456are there any other self owns of this magnitude?
>>220585106theres still the korean grocery until they rob him too many times and he moves to the suburbs.
>>220584824to see something beFORE it happens. fore sight.yes! i won the internet today woohoo fuck you guys
>>220584754We Wire enjoyers are truly lucky it wasn't made 15 years later. David Simon has said he didn't message properly with the series and regrets a lot of the unintentional neutrality
summer of sam deserves more attention poster here… https://youtu.be/K9AdSzHgXtA
>>220583629This movie made me more racist. It's also really fucking funny that Sal was the only one nominated for an acting oscar. Only white nigga (italian) in the movie and he acts better than all the black niggas. Brilliant 8/10.
Black people and its director think sal deserved it.
>I'm gonna make myself the hero by starting a riot>I'm gonna make my sister really hot (she can't act)The Lee Brain must be studied.
