When is the last time you actually bought a blu-ray or a dvd
>>220587343Probably when blockbuster was still around. Used to find some pretty cheap kino if you dug around in the ex rentals box.
>>220587343When inland empire came out
>>220587343I haven't bought a single DVD since I learned how to pirate.
>>220587343I just bought pic rel last week. Absolute kino. Controversial ending though.
>>220587343Last year or before. I should have gotten a Bluray but I couldn't find it. Obscure movies. You wouldn't have heard of them.Scary thing is internet also hasn't heard of them. Specifically piracy. So torrents having been killed by decentralizing no longer effectively exist and nothing has been preserved.
>>220587343Genuinely last week
>>220587647sleepers is a terrible film, but scent of a woman is very entertaining.
I just got the columbo dvd set.
>>220587687eh, got it because of the kino cast.Looking forward to soaw though.

>>220587343Picked these up on Saturday
>>220587837The Swimmer, BasedEnjoy
Funny thing is that I have never bought or owned bluray. Everything post-dvd for me just became either streaming or pirating
A year and a half ago
>>220587378same, dying days of blockbuster, probably scoured the 4 for $20 deal never knowing it would be the last time
Star Wars original trilogy DVDs in 2005[power gap]Robin of Sherwood Blu-rays in 2018
>>220587343Like 10ish years ago when I still had a vidya console I bought one of those old "accordion" style cd storage bags at a flea market full of old rap and ps2 game discs.
>>220587687What dont you like about it anon? I do think the second half is a boring slog though. It's kino if you watch it up to the part where they kill Kevin Bacon in the bar and the turn it off.
>>220587343Just the other week. I don't use streaming services and have a Blu-Ray player. Just bought the LOTR directors cut extended trilogy.
>>220587725I had to downsize after covid and moving to a smaller apartment meant getting rid of a bunch of stuff, including a big chunk of my dvd collection, including Columbo. I eventually bought them again since they're super comfy. >>220587837I go dvd hunting at least a few times a month, you can find really good deals if you're willing to put in some time and shoe leather. Nice finds, anon.
I bought TNG on blu-ray like a year ago. Having to update this old Xbox One every few months just to play them is a bit annoying though. If I don't, then the blu-ray player refuses to continue functioning. It's pretty fucking gay.
>>220588104Bought this Sony BDP-BX370 Blu-ray DVD Player three years ago. One of the best purchases I ever made. You can't even buy it new anymore and used ones cost more than what I paid for it. Absolute bare bones no 'smart' shit or internet connectivity necessary.
i don't think i've ever owned a bluray
>>220587343I buy Blurays often!!!FACT!!!
>>220588335I don't ever use the internet access on my dvd player and would gladly trade that for something modern dvd players seem to lack: a proper search by time function. It's essential for rewatching tv shows where I only want to watch parts of the overall show (Downton Abbey, I'm looking at you here), and the chapter stops are woefully inadequate for that.
Tron Ares 4k steelbook a couple months ago
>>220587343They're stupidly expensive here, but a friend got me Weathering With You in 4K a few months ago.
>>220587343I bought this 8 or 9 years ago. It's the only dvd or bluray I've ever bought in my life. Bought tons of videogames and vhs tapes back in the day but once dvds were out nothing was getting released that was niche enough to require me to buy it over piracy, and most of the sets are too gimmicky for me to care about enough to buy.>>220588335I have a couple of bluray player/burners I got from a friend and I've had them boxed up for years. I almost donated them and was shocked to find how much the damn things cost these days.
Alexander: The Final Unrated Cut, in like 2011. It was on Amazon for 10ish dollars, and I was living in a house without cable or internet. When I was up at my university I'd download youtubevideos and movies to watch while I was at home, and on weekends or days without class I'd go up to the local red box and rent dvds/xbox games or I'd dig around in the dvd bargain bin at the dollar store or walmart to see what they had on sale. I had broadband in my house growing up, and I remember the first week of no internet being a really hard pill to swallow, but after I got over that first week I actually was pretty happy. This isn't rose tinted glasses or anything. I remember at the time marveling on how little you actually needed in the form of entertainment to be content.
>>220587343around 2001/2? i bought the matrix trilogy boxset for myself.over the years ive bought others DVD's for gifts but never myself. i exclusively pirate, and have been since the 1980's. i dont pay for media. EVER.
>>220591136>i exclusively pirate, and have been since the 1980's.Pre-internet piracy. Kek. >>220587602>Obscure movies. You wouldn't have heard of them.Same. Lots of old films were lucky to get dvd releases at their peak but will never be on streaming (plus there's that drop in a/v quality). I mean old ... 1930s and 1940s classic Hollywood films. There will be a few random ones that stream but never the deep cuts that I particularly like. Pic: Miriam Hopkins and Joel McCrea in The Richest Girl in the World (1934), also costars Fay Wray (who doesn't scream a single time lol).
>>220587343I can't remember, I'm guessing 15 years
