As if the few inches this may have worn down in some areas would be noticeable. Karl isn't wrong in that very specific area around mt.Everest with dirt, it's just not relevant.

Pilkington was for sure doing a character, which is why Ricky and tall man were always pouncing on his every word to dunk on him for laughs, it was their whole routine. The problem is though that they would get too comfortable with the gimmick and try to pick apart something he said that was perfectly reasonable. I remember Pilkington was trying to make reference to the very real concept of “keystone species” (species that fill a vital function in their ecosystem) in an episode and Ricky was just like “You’re talking shit mate, the only reason an animal exists is because it hasn’t died” or something equally irrelevant. Just a small example I remember of this kind of mistake.
