Watched Tecumseh (1972) a couple weeks back. Not to be confused with Tecumseh: The Last Warrior (1995) that had Coppola as an executive producer. The story is the roughly the same as both revolves around the life of the famous Shawnee chief but this one was an East German production starring none other than Gojko Mitic himself! You can tell that they had a pretty sizeable budget and the goal was not to film a regular action-western where known names are only used as set dressing. The historical vein is very much alive yet it still remains an entertaining movie made for a wider audiences. Annekathrin Bürger was great as the female lead. All things considered it might not be an outstanding piece of work in any segment (though the final battle scenes are surely memorable) you can tell it was made by competent people who might have played it too safe in general. I won't include it among my favorite westerns but it's worth a watch, especially if you aren't familiar with historical events the film was based on. It's safe to say Tecumseh is the best Mitic western I've seen so far.

Picked up this boxset with a bunch of 1930s John Wayne B-westerns released between The Big Trail and Stagecoach. They aren't very good or memorable but have some charm, and many have a younger looking Gabby Hayes who is my favorite. "The Trail Beyond" has evil French Canadians as the villains which is fun.

This looks really kino, thank you for sharing and the write up. I only saw Gojko in that Sons of Great Bear movie where he was really awesome so I look forward to watching this one.

The Hanging Tree with Gary Cooper is neat as well.
