Does anyone remember that TV Show Unsolved Mysteries with Robert Stack? I was too young to watch the original version but I got watch Dennis Farina's one. But they live stream all episodes on Youtube nowDo you think that format would work nowadays? Or is everyone now afraid to snitch on people in fear of retaliation?I've had aspirations of reviving the show in the original format not the shitty Netflix one. But the reasons above is my curiousity and i dont anyone could ever match Robert Stack's voice
>>220591608i think a 2020s zoomer version of unsolved mysteries would kick assget a synthwave musician to do the soundtrack theres also thousands of middle aged radio djs with great voices. just find one of them.
What made OG Unsolved Mysteries great were the just-above-porn-level reenactments. Stack was an awesome host, Farina was acceptable as well. Really any older actor with a hard-boiled detective aura will suffice. The n*tflix reboot was an abortion. It was just like any of their hundreds of other true crime slopfests, absolutely no relation to the original in format or quality.
I met some girl who was supposedly the daughter of the guy who made the show or owned it or something. She was kind of a cunt lol. And I've known a lot of spoiled rich girls and even dated one for a few years so I'm grading her on a curve too.
>>220591608It absolutely riveted me as a kid.
>>220591608I remember hating Bermuda Triangle and "local drunk hick sees alien" episodes.
>>220591608>We still have no fucking clue where this guy is
robert stack was incrediblehis voice saying "UPDATE"is burn into my skull
>>220591608yeah, favorite of many. you might like the TWC podcast because it’s 99% based on UM episodes. https://www.trailwentcold.com/
>>220592549The occasional cryptozoo / ghost / ufo segment kept it fresh and fun but they definitely got carried away with it. I wonder how Robert Stack kept a straight face, rounding a corner in a smoky dark alley in his trenchcoat, looking square at the camera, and telling viewers to call the fucking tip line if they have any info on bigfoot.
>>220592595It was always satisfying to see a conman who flew under the radar for 10+ years get nabbed by the feds in some trailer park in Arizona.
>Children are separated by fucked up family situation >They are reunited 50 years later, and they sit together and share stories about their livesKino
>>220591608Real motherfuckers remember Sightings.
>>220592671>50% of them get caught in Florida, where everyone just happens to be watching Unsolved Mysteries at the same time
>>220591657Are we just going to ignore the Netflix reboot that has about 4 seasons?
>>220592738Florida just makes it trivially easy to access case files.
>>220592755Nah, it's just that Florida is a powerful magnet for murderers and thieves.
>episodes involving kids being brainwashed into satanic cults>yfw when they might've been real
>>220591608Before stack there was Karl Malden for a couple of the specials. (seemed like more) and before him apparently Raymond Burr hosted the pilot.
I love the 2020 Netflix adaption but you know what pissed me the fuck off to no relief?>Season 1 = 6 episodes, 5 episodes about real people>Season 2 = 6 episodes, 5 episodes about real people>Season 3 = 9 episodes, 6 episodes about real people>Season 4 = 5 episodes, 4 episodes about real people>Season 5 = 4 episodes, 1 episodes about a real personCunt I don't care about chupacabros or the same recycled UFO bullshit stories I want to watch real disappearances, the fucking retards actually had an episode about ghosts from tsunami's
I like watching this on Pluto. A lot of them have been solved and there are lots of sites that have updates from every episode. I've seen a few where one of the people being interviewed on the show is the murderer. Lots are still unsolved plus all the alien shit and whatnot. It's a good time capsule show for sure
>>220591608I do because I'm old. The theme song lives rent free in my head. I also saw the old Untouchables TV series he starred in as Eliot Ness. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xC6Ufhjv9_8
>>220593120Cool.
>>220591608Yes i remember it.It was crap.t. 45 year old.
>>220591608I remember the pilot with Raymond "Coprophile" Burr and then Karl Malden. I think it was a great show in the day. They covered some very bizarre crimes, but lost their way in the later series doing ghosts and UFO's to compete against the X-Files popularity at the time. The show would still work today and probably do well in the ratings, but the cost of production would make the show unprofitable. Every segment was like a mini movie, scripted, directed, acted and edited. Very expensive. I think once they get AI right they may try to make this series again.
>>220592709It's really crazy that it wasn't that long ago that you could be split up from your sibling and just never see or hear from them again, and there weren't good ways of finding people. It was nice when the show managed to reunite people.
>>220597187>but lost their way in the later series doing ghosts and UFO's to compete against the X-Files popularity at the time. It's because all disappearing people/crime/murder is too much of a downer and they need stuff that's gonna mix it up. No one's gonna be mad if they tune into Unsolved Mysteries and they're talking about UFOs
>>220597292You're probably right about that, but from what I have read is that Robert Stack absolutely hated the paranormal segments and I guess some true crime fans would too.
>>220591608Yeah people (women) like true crime stuff so i guess it would do wellThey should have a female host named Roberta Stacked and she wears nothing but a trench coat and has huge cans (hence her last name)
>>220591608The paranormal stuff was goofy but they could a more historical based episodes to mix it up. Like WHO was the isdal womanOr something. Obviously no one watching would have any information on it but I think it could mix up the segments a bit with out getting into goofy stuff
>>220591608Who would you cast as the host ?Robert stack placed Elliot ness so we need another tv cop
>>220591608>Or is everyone now afraid to snitch on people in fear of retaliation?Snitching has never been easier. People born after y2k don't even have any kind of "snitches get stitches" mentality
>I'LL GIVE YOU A RIIIIIIIIIIIDE
>>220591608>Does anyone remember that TV Show Unsolved Mysteries with Robert Stack?Jesus fucking christ please don't phrase threads like the underage dipshit you are.>remakeslopjust fkys
>>220598668The number of adults who are ten years younger than you increses exponentially every year.
Yes. I am now an oldfag. The intro was scary to me too
>>220592725One episode of aliens looking into the window scared me and my brother one night and couldnt sleep. also another scary intro
>>220592621I love niche podcast so I'll check this out. Raised by tv podcast goes into 90s tv so they might have one episode on this.
>>220591608>unknown guy dies after clinging onto a wing of a plane >description : he shaved off his pubesThat should help out a lot I guess
>>220591608The only two stories I remember are the woman who had like 100x the amount of trace gold in one toenail who claimed to be psychic because she predicted the dropsite of 100kg of cocaine, and the one couple who randomly abducted a kid off a playground and raised it as their own child. That second one fucked me up hard.
>>220597187Maconahey played a vic in an early episode.
>>220591608>that episode where the actor they hired to play the serial rapist /killer was the actual real life killerLife is stranger than fiction.
>>220592595UPDATENOBODY GIVES A SHIT ABOUT BIGFOOTSO FUCK HIM
>>220593090I generally hate the paranormal segments but I will shout out the one about cattle mutilations because I personally know the ranchers they interviewed for it. I live in the area the mutilations happen and people are legitimately stumped, those ranchers are real niggas and aren't the kind of people to goof around or make shit up. I have yet to hear a plausible explanation from anyone for how the mutilations keep happening.
>>220591947Did she tell you anything about the stories the show featured?
>>220592746>Are we going to ignore netflixyes
