The pure contrarian entitlement is starting to piss me off, acting like they can just wave a magic wand and easily make 20 episodes like it's nothing, or that the show is automatically good because it's longer. A shitload of shows have 8 episodes and are still padded as fuck and they want to make the problem worse because they're nostalgic for the old days or something. I think generally speaking the quality of shows with shorter seasons is much better and a show that drags it out to 20 is likely to be either a sitcom or some excruciating soap opera crap like Lost. Go watch some old shit if that's what you want and quit begging for new garbage.

The only annoying part is it used to be high quality shows with short seasons like Breaking Bad, Sopranos, The Wire still managed to get a season out per year. These days they somehow manage to drag it out to 2 or 3 years between seasons, or even longer.

They should have called it Breaking Good

Honestly, the real thing is, bring back episodic shows that aren't sitcoms or crime procedurals and then go for 20 episode seasons.

All modern tv shows are made for women

When people watched tv there were 3 month breaks between new seasons, now there are 18 month breaks. Who could give a fuck about a show that is rarely on?

I think they offset this by on streaming there's a nonstop barrage of shows, where back when it was just TV there were only a handful of new shows every season and a long break in the summer where nothing was on at all. So you're waiting longer between seasons of individual shows but you also have way more shows to watch in the meantime.

I guess? I was pretty much always just watching reruns because I hated having to keep up with shit on a schedule, especially when they would move it around without warning so you couldn't even rely on the schedule.
