Why is columbo so addicting?
Because other than a smattering of episodes near the end of the shows run it's really really good.
Good writing.
>>220598679AddicTIVE not ,ting, moron.
>>220598679you watch the murder in the first 10 minutes of the show and then the rest is just Columbo already knowing who did it but being comfy and annoying to get an admission
I only watched the exploding cigar episode but it was pretty satisfying
If Colombo were born today he'd be considered an Aspie and wouldn't be a detective he'd just be a chronically online /tv/ poster posting about logical inaccuracies in cartoons.

>>220601350Yes I agree, Columbo absolutely is no Monk. Meaning he’s actually entertaining and likable.
>>220601144There is a couple of good ones in there, but yeah it's just not as good.I liked Columbo Goes to College. Death Wins the Lottery is kinda bad good because Rip Torn is in it acting like a lunatic.

>>220598679Class revenge.ALL the criminals are pompous elites who are very condescending to normal schlubby folk but ALSO very stupid and arrogant and this leads to their downfall. Losers who never accomplish anything in life fantasize about this. They desperately wish so bad they could take them down a peg, but they can't, not really, because the successful men are successful for a reason and the losers are losers for a reason. But shows like this let them have that little fantasy in their small beige carpeted hovels.
>>220601195For me, it's McCloud.
Just watched the first episode because of this thread. Feels like Kramer solving crimes.

The Donald Pleasence episode is absolute peak. One of his finest performances too, if you only ever remember him from MST3K movies or Bond, this will redeem him for you.

>>220604817That's because you're retarded. Ashkenazis were created by levantine jews going to Italy and breeding italian women. That happened before Christianity even existed. Then they moved all over Europe and were kicked out of everywhere and settled in Poland. They weren't breeding with local population, because Christians and jews didn't mix. The breeding only started happening in the 19th century when people started leaving religions or converting.
for me, it's the the gourmet food one. stars Louis Jourdan and directed by Jonathan Demme
>>220600644The part where he puts the "I'm a smart genius" medal on Columbo (while laughing hysterically about how he got outplayed by a guy he thought was a simpleton) is probably my favorite scene in the entire series
>>220604798The first two pilots are a little different than the rest of the series. His character changes a bit.
If I ever have a Swiss mountain dog,I'll name him Columbo.

>>220605633>ACTUALLY the writing perfectly reflecting the culture and values of the most populous generation that also makes up majority of the workforce today is written by one that's still in college
>>220606216Funny you should say that. The 90s animated series modeled their lex after him.
>>220605928Murder by the Book is the first episode of the first season, but Columbo had two pilots before that (Prescription Murder and Ransom for a Dead Man). That episode is pretty good though, the guy who gets killed was also on Adam 12.Also, I would have absolutely plowed this goofy looking bitch before murdering her, it was 1971 so you could go raw without having to worry about nightmare STDs or detectives being able to ID you with DNA evidence. The killer missed out.>>220606124The old Sam Spade radio show from the 40s is fucking great. Halfway through the lead VA for Spade (a guy named Howard Duff) got replaced because it was the red scare/mccarthy era and his name showed up on a list somewhere of "potential communist sympathizers" and their sponsor (a hair tonic company) threatened to pull out. The new guy wasn't anywhere near as good so I don't really listen to those episodes.>>220606133He isn't a genius, he's just better at solving murders than the killers are at comitting them. A few times over the course of the series he talks about how his skill is mainly due to the fact that he has a lot of experience dealing with murders, and the suspects usually don't (its generally their first time murdering someone).
