Impressive. Very nice. Now let's see Paul Allen's gunkata.
>>
>>220605312
This movie was like the Millia Jovakavich Resident Evils: incomprehensibly retarded and amazingly awesome at the same time.
>>
>>220605312

I loved this movie when I was 13 and I love these threads now that I'm 35.

I love this stupid movie so much.
>>
>>220605617
before or after your mom brings you your hot pockets from upstairs?
>>
>>220605600
I always fuxking hated this movie but watching this scene again looks hilariously awesome.

I think my big complaint with this movie is it takes itself wayyyyyy too fucking seriously for what it is. It acts like its the next 1984 or Bravenew World. But its doing all this super hero gay shit and clearly ripping off the Matrix.
>>
>>220605926
Movies from the 80s/90s and early 00s were built on almost idiotic levels of pure exuberance.

Now every movie is as if someone has their foot on the brake the whole time. Nothing ever goes all out anymore.
>>
>>220605600
I will die defending gun kata.
>>
>>220605600
HOLY KINO
>>
>>220605926
>this movie is it takes itself wayyyyyy too fucking seriously for what it is
lmao no it didn't
>>
>>220606036
Yes it did. The scene where the girl gets incinerated foes full Schindlers List.

The scene with the dog is trying to build scorcese levels of tension.

It takes itself way too Fing seriously.
>>
>>220605861
Time to update insults from early 2000's.
>>
>>220606090
>It takes itself way too Fing seriously.
Thank god. I hate tongue in cheek shit. It's generally a coward's way of avoiding ownership of what they've created.
>>
>>220605926
this is what is known as a self expose
>>
>>220606106
you're the one listening to goth metal while watching equilibrium you out of date faggot
>>

Pardon me anon, you have a call waiting from the Based Department.
>>
Why did they stop making kino?

this movie is schoolshooter-coded
>>
>>220606090
>>220606131
it's earnest, but i think they're aware it's over-the-top action and melodrama. it was just the style at the time.

imagine seeing THX-1138 and thinking, 'you know what this needs? more Matrix-style action.' thank god someone did.

>Through analysis of thousands of recorded school shootings, the incel has determined that the geometric distribution of kindergarteners in any classroom is a statistically predictable element. The Gun Kata treats the gun as a total weapon, each fluid position representing a maximum kill zone, inflicting maximum damage on the maximum number of students, while keeping the defender clear of the statistically traditional trajectories of hurt feelings. By the rote mastery of this art, your firing efficiency will rise by no less than 120%. The difference of a 63% increased lethal proficiency makes the master of the Gun Katas an adversary not to be taken lightly.
It was a different time
>>
>>220605600
how does he fire all those pistol bullets while his weeble clips are on the ground?

/k/ommandos pls explain.
>>

Rule of cool > physics
>>
>>220606336
He threw spare mags on the ground Like Tarant did at the Mosque knowing people would be too panicked to pick them up
>>
>>220605600
looks like gunslop
>>
>>220606366
Why wouldn't you keep spare magazines on you?
>>
>>220605600
Why is he apparently the only one who can fight? These guys aren’t even stormtrooper level. I mean they basically made him into Superman an unstoppable force like Neo at the end of the matrix. It’s basically a teenagers version of where he gets to beat up all of his bullies unscathed. It’s like what westerners think shoalin monks really are when if they would step into a mma ring. He basically gets angry cause of a puppy and decides that he likes to murder everybody in the vicinity. Oh yeah and his dead wife who he was married to but apparently somehow was not in love with because reasons he is not allowed.
>>
>>220605600
looks like gunkino
>>
>>220606036
Even the end sword fight like Bru you think guns are cool watch this is basically over in 2 seconds flat I chop yo face off hahahah. I watched the Chapo episode on this and am flabbergasted why they chose it if not for Felix obsession with power fantasies.

Clerics are built different. Bale is a Cleric, Taye Diggs is a Cleric and Sean Bean was a Cleric. Those guys are just regular militia not trained in gunkata
>>
>>220606577
You never heard of Chapo Trap House? Anyway here’s the episode on Equilibrium

>>220606595
Clerics can apparently hit a motorcycle wearing guy and knock him out instantly also the guys that surround him in a circle fashion always so that his spinny gunkata tactics always work.
>>

I did both. I actually enjoyed the movie because I’m not an autist and my brain turns off when I’m watching a film but the show just showed me how retarded it really was. Still cool tho not denying. But the main premise of no emotion for societal control actually makes me think that this was the best utopia humanity could have hoped for so just put everyone on SSRIs and remove anyone who isn’t chill enough. Beats living in clown world.
>>
>>220605926
>I think my big complaint with this movie is it takes itself wayyyyyy too fucking seriously for what it is
that's part of why it's fucking awesome
not everything has to be ironic slop to be entertaining
>>
>>220605926
In the 90s movies dared to ask questions. Today every superhero movie is basically set in the real world at least directors back then had their own visions of what the future what look like.

Butchered after test screenings. You can probably still find post about this if you google it. I remember reading posts on some movie forums from people who had seen the test screening version and the theatrical/unrated cut and it was missing whole chunk of stuff.
>>
>>220605312
I remember walking by an advertisement board of this film each morning as I made my way to work back in 2002 (24 years ago -- fuckin' hell). I thought it looked shite and had zero desire to catch it. Many years later, I caught it on TV. This picture has no right being as entertaining as it is.

Deciding to shoot the entire movie without acquiring the necessary budget was a pretty big mistake, for starters. The second was not really knowing what the script was supposed to be while shooting the movie.

This is what sells it, the wink at the camera quipslop is what ruined kinema. People respect soul, not cynicism.

>>

Sony didn't like the raw cut, cut funding (hence unfinished cgi) and cut it to 90 minutes to recoup their losses
>>
>>220605600
I think this is the only bad scene in the film
>>
>>220607455
Gunkata lets you dodge the soundwaves
>>
>>220605600
The way he grabs the automatic machine gun and it magnetically comes in his hands always makes me laugh
>>
>>220606436
In-universe explanation is the cleric is trained to be in the statistically best position to avoid being shot at any given moment. It's not that the storm trooper dudes can't shoot, they are just shooting at him predictably (center of mass, etc)

Equilibrium had a touch of sincerity and theme about individual freedom and antiauthority.
>>
>>220606950
Her body was tight and fit. It was anime tier bombastic action with a thread of a story. Cool tech. The suckerpunch director hated it and made sure that his movie wasnt going to be like that.
>>
First time I heard wb yeats and that amazing poem. Cool scene and inspired to have him not fight and just place the book in front of himself.
>>
yeah
