there is nothing to be gained from more streaming series. peeplus can be carried by sports now that they have UFC.
film in theater is the next step and it will probably be another lame TOS reboot.

Explain to me how this episode depicts harmful racist stereotypes.
The Ligonians are cultured, civilized, well-spoken, ceremonially driven.
>>
>>220609951
I bet it will be adding an AI gimmick to TOS and TNG episodes. The next logical step since they can’t come up with new stories and characters that click with audiences.
>>
>>220609989
tom was always assigned as backup for sickbay but yes kes would have been there to help.

alright I'm watching the DS9 Racism episode now. So far it is a fun episode.
>>
>>220610162
Racism isn't fun, anon.
>>
>>220610030
It’s not just about Paramount +. They can get by on sports, Yellowstone, and Spongebob.
Paramount wants Star Trek to be a forever IP like Loony Tunes and Mickey Mouse. And as we were discussing a few threads ago, the CIA sees ST as a goldmine for social engineering. They’re not just going to let it die after a decade of regrettable streaming shows.
>>
>>220610003
computing power is still a thing. he can teleport, doesn't need sleep, is directly interfaced with the ships medical database. Two EMH running at 50% or less efficiency and precision sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.
>>
>>220610183
I am not talking about the Racism. I'm talking about seeing all the DS9 characters in these old timey appearances.

>>
I think people give way too much credit to nutrek when they call it social engineering or brainwashing or whatever. These are simply a bunch of retarded, disposable, forgettable shows made by a bunch of nobodies for the sole purpose of filling out a streaming service and keeping the investors happy.

that one EMH is a marvel of precision engineering, all the points I made require immense computational power. An additional Holonurse would've been great but that's another good reason why not to make the EMH split, additional actors on set that cost money and the more EMH you bring in the more the same actor must act out the same scene differently again and again, costing money, time and extensive work from everyone on and off set for a gimmick that adds very little to the story.

DS9 was quietly pumping out some of the best episodic sci-fi ever. When most of America was watching slop like Ally McBeal and Home Improvement. We took the 90’s and early 00’s for granted.
>>
>>220611483
DS9 had a decent following while it aired. It was certainly less niche than other sci fi at the time.
>>
>>220611526
I’m sure it did but I also heard they had to bring on Worf to save the ratings. The show was never going to be as newcomer friendly as TOS and TNG.
>>
Riker liked Worf but Picard didn't really
>>
>>220611596
Did you miss the parts where Picard risked his life for Worf in the Klingon capital?
>>
>>220611566
They set out to make a show that would be the exact opposite of TNG (since they were gonna air alongside each other for a couple of years). Naturally, that turned a lot of people off, but it cultivated a good sized fanbase. Just nowhere near as big as TNG.
>>
>>220611668
That was political
>>
>>220611596
initially, yes. riker was pretty much the only one who didn't treat worf as a token or a nuisance, including worf himself who was still schizo torn due to his life story to that point. it took time and many adventures for the crew to grow together as a family. But yeah, I got the same impression from Picard at the start. Picard seemed generally unhappy with his crew assignment, buncha undisciplined kids with no sense of culture or manners.

I feel like they kept writing the Bajorans to be jews in Nazi Germany analogues but Berman had to keep being like no they’re their own thing until he just gave up. Like whenever they need the Bajorans to be a jew parallel they just ignore all the preceding lore and like the federation (Bajor) is apparently cool with pursuing friendly relations with the nazis, inviting them to the station, doing joint ventures, etc

A groundbreaking show, Star Trek Academy takes the franchise in a whole new direction that had some fans worried but
now that we have grown to know and love the characters, the statement the show makes is becoming more and more profound.

Fans are coming out strong for the new shows with real excitement and the metrics are reflective of that.

Star Trek is being magically reimagined with big new ideas and concepts and we're loving it.

Starfleet Academy is hitting all my trek spots.

Going into this season, I was excited. By the end of it, I was blown away.

no idea, never watched tas. lore inconsistencies are a dime a dozen in star trek, memory alpha tells you what is considered canon, beta for licensed works and gamma (i think) is for fanfics and the likes.
progenitors came back into play in the last season of discovery, revealing that they inherited the tech used for seeding life from a previous race themselves.

Thrints and Kzinti come from the Ringworld series by Niven, who adapted that TAS episode from one of his short stories. Thrints went extinct, save for one that was stuck in suspended animation for 1.5 billion years in "World of Ptavvs". I don't recall how long ago the progenitor race was supposed to have seeded the galaxy.

They're gonna give him ANOTHER deal and he'll make MORE garbage and they'll still call you a hateful bigot if you don't like it.

I don't get why people don't get this: this is the new business model, this is how they make money now, not by making a product people want to see, but by producing enough slop keep bullshitting the markets into believing they're viable companies which pacifies uninterested global pension funds and obliges index tracker funds to keep buying/holding their stocks.

So long as they have absolute control over *actual* viewing figures, all they need are just enough watches to put out some bullshit made up metric about Most Watched P+ Sci-Fi Show In March 2026 with enough fanfare and they can keep going, keep borrowing, keep merging forever. And if the grift ever falls apart, so what? All the execs have iron-clad golden parachutes, and they'll just walk across the street to the next corporation and do the funny handshake with their buddies there and get a new board position, or production deal, or division lead job.

Customers aren't the customers anymore, investors are, and most investors don't care about anything so long as Line Go Up.

Rewatching academy for the third time now and from what I can see so far the only phasers they gave are attached to the "internal" saucer section. they use those in the klingon battle during Vox in Exelso anyways. what's wrong with cursing? tos pushed as far as they could under restrictive laws, tng toned it down, ds9 had a lot of it going as far as they could again. klingon and romulan swearing are a staple of the franchise, again, mostly to avoid censorship.
