The Last Jedi in theater was the last Star Wars media I engaged with. This is the equivalent of Sony re-releasing Morbius because of memes. Season 1 and 2 were well received because it was back to basics approach. The show set up Mando as the reluctant leader to possibly have conflict with the Empire and Bo Katan too. He had the darksaber But season 3 pivoted to cartoon plots and making him a loser. Guess what, if there weren't huge gaps between seasons and this film was about Mando retaking Mandalore in some big epic adventure accessible to non show watchers whilst still being enjoyable to show watchers, it would have been a big success. Instead this was marketed towards cucked Porg loving sequel cucks, mama Mandalorians (there was a trend of women treating Grogu toys like babies on social media) and cartoon lose social media obsessives. They confused the memes and Mando discussion on social media about how "heckin' wholesome Pedro Pascal, the internet's bisexual loving uncle" is, with actual popularity. Get fucked.

I just saw a reviewer theorize that they have so many cameos not because of making easter eggs but because they had too little budget left that they just couldn't afford actors and had to get the director's friends to stand in. They said all pilots and basically all people who appear are off-screen staff from the tv series.

The trouble with star wars is that it's simultaneously too big, and too small.It's too big in that there are actual textbooks written about star wars lore. Photobooks of props with descriptive text explaining it. Books filled with cross sections. The people making star wars don't even know these sorts of things exist. They will never be able to match the energy and passion of someone that actually enjoys star wars enough to get invested in that sort of thing. And it shows.Then you have the problem of the universe being too small. Mando did a great job of trying to expand the universe and while it did get dragged back into the alpha plot of Luke and that sort of shit, at least it tried to branch off.The property needs new ideas, which their creative staff don't have. And their biggest problem is they rely on callbacks to appeal to longtime fans, without having done the homework people have spent decades studying.
