>Clark (Chiwetel Ejiofor) is a divorced, alcoholic failed architect who now owns a failing furniture store, and finds a portal to a Backrooms level called “the complex” in the store’s basement.>Clarke manages to sketch a map of the complex, which he shows to his therapist Mary (Renate Reinsve), but she doesn’t believe him.>Clark recruits his employees Bobby (Finn Bennett) and Kat (Lukita Maxwell) to go into the complex with him to get video proof.>They find a hole in the ground and Clark lowers Bobby into it with a rope around his waist. A creature attacks Bobby in the dark and Clark and Kat are unable to pull him up.>Clark disappears, and Mary goes to the store to look for him. She finds the portal and goes into the complex, where she finds people fused to the walls and furniture.>Mary finds Clark, who snapped and wants to stay in the complex forever to escape his shitty life. He killed Kat because she wanted to leave and warn people, and prepares to kill Mary as well.>Mary flees, Clark chases her, and they encounter the creature that killed Bobby, a monstrous version of Clark’s pirate-themed store mascot, Captain Clark. It bits a chunk off Clark’s neck and drags him away to his death.>Mary is rescued by scientists in hazmat suits and taken to a military lab. A scientist, Phil (Mark Duplass), explains that the government has been studying the Backrooms for years and has been unable to figure out what it is, only that it is infinite, comprised of multiple layers, and inhabited by monsters.>After interrogating Mary and determining she is a loner with no immediate family who will come looking for her, Phil puts Mary back into the complex both to keep her quiet and to monitor her as she attempts to navigates it.>The implication is that the mutated people Mary encountered where others the government did this to, and she will ultimately become one of them as well.
lmao major flop incoming
>>220612701K I N O
>>220612701This can’t be real, a Hollywood horror film that doesn’t spend half the run time doing exposition on explaining everything about the creature or setting? I’m shocked
The first 2/3rds is literally House of Leaves. At what point does inspiration become copyright infringement...
>>220612701Reminds me of that shitty Chernobyl Diaries movie, even the ending is pretty much the same.
Sounds like a fun watch
>>220612774No it's not, also House of Leaves is the shittiest piece of shit I've had the misfortune of reading in a long time. Serves me right falling for plebbit propaganda
>>220612774>House of LeavesIs this bots or just reddit cucks saying this everywhere this film is mentioned?
First pirate who did nothing good
>>220612701>waow it's da ebil poo poo monstah from level 613242 of da baggrooms :DDD
>>220612871>>220612881Because it literally is>Navidson finds a weird impossible structure within his house>Becomes obsessed with it>Eventually hires a group of explorers to record video and attempt to map it out>A monster stalks them in the dark>One of them gets lost and goes insane>in the trailer for the movie they even show specific stuff like him measuring the rooms and finding them to be impossible dimensions ala the bookThe only real difference here is the scientist shit tacked on at the end. In fact, I think you're a group of shills/bots working overtime for A24 to avoid public perception of the film turning negative.
Kane Pixel sucks
>>220612701>the Captain Clark Still Life bites the neck of Clark's neck>other leak says it took a bite out of one of his shouldersDoes Kat's head get stuffed into a fridge?
>>220612982The monster in that shitty book isn't even real, and virtually every exploration horror movie/plot has had atleast one of the crew going nuts, so its more like House of Leaves ripping off a well known trope and moulding a piece of shit storyline out of it
>>220612701I'm not gonna watch the nigger rooms movie
>>220612982No one cares about your shitty book.
I have nu-horror fatigue. Gonna watch some Karloff klassics instead.
>>220613116>>220612921>>220612738Can’t wait until this becomes the biggest release of the year with anons continually spamming threads about it for years to come and all you faggots will pretend like you were on the hype train the whole time
I saw a black guy and women on the images of this movie so i'm not watching it. Simple as.
>>220613039The original backrooms post on /x/ was directly copied from House of Leaves.Thats the whole point of the implied monster, a minotaur, that you hear but never actually see.
>>220613039It became a trope because of Blair Witch and House of Leaves you fucking zoomer retard. They were released at basically the same time (1999/2000) and had a huge influence on horror going forward.
>>220613132Whatever helps you sleep at night, Kane
>>220613155Source?>>220613187House of Leaves hasn't influenced shit, nobody cares about House of Leaves, stop trying to pretend House of Leaves is some niche horror product that's had a hidden tangible impact on the genre, it simply hasn't and the real horror in reading that book stems from the fact that you paid to read it
>>220613263>stop trying to pretend House of Leaves is some niche horror productI'm actually saying the complete opposite. It's not niche at all. That's why it has such a massive influence.
>>220612701>everyone diesConfirmed another blumhouse-coded slop
>>220613379blumhouse slopkino confirmed???
>>220612701I expected it to be shit, and it's somehow even worse. That's fucking terrible sounding, and I enjoy trash.
I don’t like the evil government faction angle, I liked the async from the shorts where they’re just like a normal group of researchers
>>220613350Massive influence on what? The concept of a dark mysterious and shape shifting labyrinth literally originates from Greek mythology in the BCs, House of Leaves just uses this mythology as a plot device for it's brain dead relationship drama. Plebian redditors saw some wonky text formatting and decided to collectively deem that piece of shit book as an experimental master piece, doesn't mean it actually is.
>AYO>*smacks lips*>DIS SOME LIMINAL SPACE TYPE SHEEIT>*shucks and jives*>WE IN DA BACKROOMS NIGGA>*steals your wallet*The actual leak is much better
>>220613554this sounds extremely scary
>>220613546filtered
>>220613546>first instance of something is the most influentialYou're an actual retard.
>>220613546Massive influence on the 4chan post that started the entire genre. You should try to DM the anon that made the original sōyminal spaces post and grill him about his influences you dumb fuck.
>>220612701Sounds awful I hope this movie gets a 5/10. I only like async sending Mary to her death.
>>220613155>The original backrooms post on /x/ was directly copied from House of Leaves. It was Fringe actuallyhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1RR71E8x6Ahttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvM2ah83JJAhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DKaur3RmREhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eDKS0aBLFMhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1LD3RcsObkhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcRWm0gzzI4https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnRyUL7_sCU
>>220612701>scientifs randomly reveals Mary all about the backroomsLmao, this trope again
>220613600>>220613641>>220613644>NOOOOO NOT THE UPSIDE DOWN NON CONVENTIONAL TEXT FORMAT IN MY HECKING MASTER PIECE PSUEDO HORROR SLOP>IM GOING INNSSAAAANNEE
>going with the backrooms monster shityeah this sounds like garbage
>Hello?
>>220613765I hate House of Leaves because the junky schizo chapters are boring. I still dont understand why that book gives you conniptions.
>>220613698love that show
>>220613915can you hear me?
>>220612881I vaguely remember reading the first chapter of House of Leaves and finding the main character annoying and degenerate but maybe I'm remembering wrong or was overrreacting
>>220614225House of Leaves-fags get pissy when I say this but you can literally just read the sections on The Navidson Record and skip the rest of it. All you really need to know is that the events of the tape are being filtered through a schizo and an unreliable narrator so what can be interpreted as real within the context of the story is up for debate. Not saying that the Johnny Truant stuff can't be fun, just that it isn't necessary for the core story.
>>220613039Big mad lol
>>220614225Don't listen to that guy, none of it is worth it, not one plotline. Well except for the crazy mother's letters I guess. But everything else is just soap opera dogshit padded with insane amounts of pretentious filler meant to represent each POVs mental decline. At its core it's just a relationship drama between a middle aged couple, and its a chore to read, you could spend that time instead gooning to anime girls and it'd still be more productive.
>>220614555If that was your big issue with the book you should have stated it from the start because I actually agree with you. The boring core of it was gen x ageing drama.
>>220614599Idk which one you are but there was one guy subtly shilling for the book and trying to market it by claiming it somehow influenced aspects of modern horror, that had to be debunked. There's no redeeming quality to that book and the majority of its fanbase is infact women, a fact I never bothered to uncover because the books plot sounds interesting in a condensed summary version
>>220612701>when im in a ruining my setting by adding shitty monsters competiton and my opponent is the Backrooms
>The implication is that the mutated people Mary encountered where others the government did this to, and she will ultimately become one of them as well.Backrooms 2 confirmed.
>>220614693>>220613884This has to be bait.
Will this be the new minecraft meme?
>>220615111More FNAF than Minecraft, there's a fanbase unironically interested in Kane's Backrooms story.
>>220615144I hope this gets at least some good new videos about the backrooms to be made instead of just slop.
>>220612777>Chernobyl DiariesMan that is a shitblast from the past...i only remember because it have the best jumpscares ever.
>>220613081stay mad cuck
>>220612701>After interrogating Mary and determining she is a loner with no immediate family who will come looking for her, Femcels are people too amd they’re harmless, why does everyone hate them so much?
