It’s always weird meeting grown men, especially old men, who never had licenses or drove cars. My neighbour is like 65 and never drove, only his wife drives. When I sort of remarked with surprise he shrugged it off as if he just never wanted to drive. Which is bullshit. No one misses a social milestone and choose inconvenience and emasculation “just cause they never got around to it.”

Driving is the easy part. The hard part is keeping track of road signs, lanes, other cars, looking at mirrors, your speed knowing that you are always a split second away from disaster. Just on my driving school I had to deal with an ambulance in a narrow road with no parking space and some retard who was driving on the sidewalk. Then there is the occasional DUI guy, animal running into the street right in front of you, the asshole who rear ends you or bumps into your car in the parking lot making you wait an hour for the police to sort it out, flat tire, gas costs, insurance costs, washing the car... It's not all convenience.
