They built their sequel franchise on the safest, least creative foundation you could possibly choose to build. They copied, beat for beat, the original Star Wars film' plot without a hint of shame. They let Abrams roll out yet ANOTHER mystery box story. How many of Abrams' mystery boxes EVER had a satisfying conclusion in the past? And to top it all off, they most likely knew Abrams would only make one movie because it was in his contract, so they gambled on a trilogy with DIFFERENT DIRECTORS for each installment.
