Can someone here who watches cartoons explain why Cars 3 was bad?
>>
>>220624789
Cars 2 sucked. That was the "making the retard sidekick the hero" Pixar era
>>
>>220624864
They all suck
>>
>>220624877
at least the first one had the "life is a highway" song
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdEc5kiPkLU
>>
Cars 3 is fucking kino though.
>>
>>220624864
Turning it into a spy thriller was quite the decision.
>>
>>220624877
Part 1 was nice. Characters were kinda cute.
They only good thing about part 2 was the weezer song

Whole movie was about Mcqueen training to beat the black car, then at the end he didnt even race him and passed the torch to the annoying yellow car.

If he at least beat the black car AND THEN passed the torch, the ending wouldnt have been so terrible.
>>
Remember when Cars came out and everybody pretended it was the first bad Pixar movie?

>>220624789
It's only "bad" in a very specific way...
>>
>>220624789
the first Cars is probably the worst film of Pixar's golden age.
Cars 2 are 3 are worse, but not by much. They're both 6/10 kid movies.
>>
>>220625777
>the first Cars is probably the worst film of Pixar's golden age.
For me, it's Up. Yes, the opening segment is great, but the rest of the movie isn't that good.
>>
2>1>3
>>
>>220624789
because it came out when i was already an adult
>>
>>220625876
Pixar were overhyped, Disney's Bolt or other forgotten normal fare was as good as everything except Wall-e and maybe Ratatouille or Incredibles. The rest is all 4-6/10 kiddysl*p.
>>
>>220624789
The only good part of Cars 2 is the OST. Doc Hudson died? Let's just gloss over that. McQueen enters a worldwide racing league? Nah let's watch Mater go on hijinks.
Cars 3 at least understood what kind of movie it's supposed to be.
>>
>>220624789
>explain why Cars 3 was bad?
I remember the female car/Lightning’s assistant wasn’t a racer.
but she did one training course and then beat the high tech car that whooped Lightning’s ass.
dunno how she was able to do it but that instantly ruined the movie
>>
>>220625876
The animal humor got old way too quickly, but the villain was good since it made sense for him to go crazy and he was a good foil for Karl to not get obsessed over one thing.
>>
>>220625619
cars are white supremacist so I won't watch a movie that glorifies them. checkmate. she's joking though isn't she.
>>
>>220626517
Yes. She's making a funny.
>>
>1 and 3: Randy Newman
>2: Michael Giacchino
>>
>>220626857
It's only smells
>>
>>220626200
I think the reason why Pixar got so much hype is because they had their big breakout at the same time Disney's 90s renaissance was coming to an end.
>>
>>220625442
You get that the point of the movie was about aging past your prime and accepting you're at the end of the road, right? Lightning couldn't beat Storm no matter what he did, he wasn't fast enough anymore. Point was he needed to accept that. Beating him would kill the movie's message.

You'll get it when you hit your forties.
>>
I'm pretty sure thinking Cars and A Bug's Life were the best Pixar movies and not caring about Toy Story at all was my first cinematic contrarian opinion
>>
>>220626200
Incredibles, Ratatouille, and Inside Out were all good. The rest is slop for kids and stunted adults.
>>
>>220626857
>final words before being burned alive in your EV
>>
>>220627286
Inside out was horrible.
>>
>>220627237
so it's an evil cuck pill movie for losers
>>
>>220627237
How the fuck does a racecar kept in pristine condition age
>>
>>220624789
Cars 2 actually tries something and has some amusing parts. Cars 3 is a redo of 1, but much much worse with an unearned passing of the torch plot.

>Beating him would kill the movie's message
No, it wouldnt. He could still beat him by the skin of his teeth, and realize that someone even better than the black car could show up and beat his ass, and decide that he would rather retire and pass the torch in a moment of glory, than retire as a loser or die during a race.

>>
>>220624789
the problem is that its just the first but with lightning in the veteran position instead of the young rookie, but doesn't want to fully commit
also doesn't help that the original ending was much better

>>
>>220625876
Finally someone else fucking says it
As soon as the dog shows up you may as well just turn off the movie
>>
>>220624789
Cars 3 is pretty evil. It is the opposite of 1 and 2 in that it has a more anti-rural perspective, and it encourages you to just give up and give everything to the next generation.

The alternate ending where he wears docs paint should have been the real ending.
>>
>>220628352
>encourages you to just give up and give everything to the next generation
And it seems to be communicating this to Zillenials, who are still in their prime. They are already being prepped to accept not being the target audience, and to be OK about being ignored.
>>
>>220627726
>biggest additions to the grid

As a Dad, Cars 3 is actually unironically my favorite of the series. I'm aging and some of my relatives are reaching the point where they are starting to have health problems and some have even passed away. With my kid I am frequently trying to share many of the experiences that my parents gave me as a child, and the central theme of Cars 3 being passing the torch to the next generation really hits home for me personally. It doesn't feel like a movie designed for kids, but more for the adults to reflect on how their prior generations have shaped them and how they can contribute to future generations in a positive way as they themselves are starting to pass their prime. The part that gets me the most though is when McQueen learns how much Doc was proud of him, that he was saving all the news articles about him... Maybe it's because I didn't hear it enough from my Dad, or maybe it's because I've gained the perspective to learn how important it is to openly share with my own son that I'm proud of all his wins. Either way, Cars 3 hit me emotionally more than probably any other animated movie from that era.

Cars 2 is an absolute piece of trash though.

>>
>>220629218
Sounds like I owe Toy Story 3 a watch, then. I tried to watch the first one with my son and he got scared at all the Sid scenes with his fucked up toys (rightfully so) and we still didn't go through the rest of them. I do recall seeing the second one and recall it being pretty terrible.
>>
>>220629335
toy story 2 was shit but the third one was good

How do cars have sex or do 9/11?
>>
>>220629400
they dont
>>
>>220629423
But they do in the cars universe so they should be able to upgrade their engines as well.
>>
>>220629447
They do terrorism and fuck? Anyway, you're agreeing with what that other anon was saying about cars not aging.
>>
>>220629475
Yeah the twin towers are missing from their version of new york implying there are muslim terrorist cars out there marrying go karts and running over europeans at christmas festivals.
>>
>>220629513
I don't think Europe exists in the Cars universe it's rated PG.
>>
>>220624789
Shite movie. Imagine if they made a Rocky movie where Rocky spends the entire movie training but he gives up before the fight and lets his trainer fight instead. Aha expectations subverted

I'm sorry but your son sounds like a huge bitch-made vagina, I watched that scene when I was 5 and didn't get scared and I'm a huge coward IRL, your kid won't survive high school.

cars 3

If McQueen simply got upgrades to beat Storm, at what point would he just be a completely different car?
>>
>>220624789
Having seen each of the Cars movies dozens of times, sometimes multiple times in one day, very recently (I have young children), I can weigh in. Cars 1 is a self-contained, good story; it's Doc Hollywood, but with cars. The hot shot gets stuck in a small town, gets humbled, learns his lesson, and uses that personal growth to "win" in the end. It teaches kids a good lesson, has some subtle humor for the parents that have to watch the movie, has good animation, good music. It just works. Cars 2 isn't actually that good of a movie. it's a Return of Jafar sort of thing. If you're a kid who just wants more of the characters you like it's fine, but parents will get bored. Still, it's clearly kidslop made for kids. Cars 3 meanwhile, actually is a good concept for a movie, just not for kids. It tells a story about growing older and knowing that eventually you will have to pass on your legacy. The problem is it spends 80% of the movie doing Car 2 levels of slapstick and kid jokes but tries to have a serious story that only will appeal to adults. Kids don't want to see a story about Lightning McQueen not being the best, and parents don't want to see the demolition derby scene again. It's just very mismatched.
>>
>>220632434
As long as he keeps his penis he's still McQueen.
>>
>>220624789
the second one sucked. making fossil fuels the bad guy in a movie about cars was a completely retarded decision.

Cars 3 has to be the most forgettable Pixar movie. It was not even 10 years ago and I can't remember a single thing that happened in it.
>>
>>220624789
Are you confused? Cars 2 is the bad one.
>>
>>220624864
Cars 2 sucked/was mediocre but it didn’t actively hate the source material.

>>220624789
It’s a movie about lighting getting emasculated and defeated and how he was never good in the first place. Who would enjoy that?
In fact, 3 has the storyboarded ending of Lighting participating and winning the final race but instead he’s too weak and shitty so a cunty, unlikable Ellen Degeneres car is better and Gooder than lighting ever was and she gets all the glory. Imagine being a kid and a fan of cars and seeing that. I was mad and weirded out when I was 30 watching it ffs. jewish movie.
Reminds me of Homelander or Joker, same energy.
>>
>>220628083
Pixar got a call from MOSSAD to shut this down and change the ending like attack on titan. Can’t have young boys watching this become too moralized and happy.
>>
>>220629513
>running over europeans at christmas festivals.
but there is no eurocucks to run over in Cars universe
>>
>>220629331
She's a more modern race car anon.
