I mean is that not how spells usually work retard? For example, using a salt to keep evil shit out, the instant that circle or line is broken, the evil can get in. I imagine the same shit applies. I always looked at the monsters as some kind of variant of Dracula/vampires. They hate sunlight evident by them only coming out at night and hiding in caves during the day. They were turned by the MiY aka Dracy. And can't come inside unless given permission i.e. you remove the talisman. It's why Sophia was allowed into the clinic because the talisman wasn't up yet.

The real question/twist is whether or not it even stops the MiY. The reason I ask is because after Sophia kills the priest, she wanders outside where one of the creatures starts lurking. Kenny shows up and pulls her back inside...but I'm pretty sure the talisman was already up and hanging no? Someone would have to go back and rewatch that episode and let me know but I'm pretty sure it was still hanging up because why would Kenny take it down just to hang it back up when he pulls her back inside? Which would mean 1 of 2 things:
1. the talisman don't effect the Man in Yellow or
2. once you let one of them in, it doesn't matter if you hang the talisman they can still come back inside. I'm leaning more towards 1 because I remember the talisman hanging up and Sophia running her fingers along it when they were in the clinic at one point. So my theory is that the talisman does FUCK ALL to the Man in the Yellow.

Dan underscore's theory being that "everything is a lie here" is cool but it'd be too genius of the writers to pull. Basically the entity in control manipulates everyone, the quest is something the town wants Jade and Tabitha to complete, otherwise the bottles in the tree and all the other clues would have been taken down a while ago. On the lack of Bibles in fromtown: I'm not American, but I notice that in American shows/movies meant to have broader appeal to many demographics, Christian denominational differences are smoothed or not mentioned unless it's some authoral NYC wop flick like Scorcese's. It seemed very strange to me when in season the now dead priest tells Sarah more than once that the Bible has "73 books". That's a very Catholic take, any average Protestant American would notice this line. I believe that churchman victim of MiY as Sophie was a Catholic priest and that if anyone bothers to check the books(possibly his Bible) that were in the car they will find a Catholic Bible and at least question Sophie's story. I think the dolls prove there are other things wrong with the town besides MIY and his contract with the town residents.
Tabitha likely never went back to the town as a child. I think her memory with the dolls was from her original life. The man who threw them in the lake was an original town resident who died before the MIY contract that made the others immortal. His nightmare coming out of the lake also likely predates MIY. This means even before they made their deal with him there was always something wrong with the town, maybe it always made nightmares come to life
