Disney were a girl brand, wanted to buy boy brands (Marvel/Star Wars) and unfortunately allowed certain politics in as well as production pressures because of how well the MCU was doing completely fuck up every attempt they made. It is the classic case of, in trying to make something with universal appeal, they made something that appealed to no one. I don't just think it is politics, I think writing attitudes around avoiding tropes and ideas don't help either. Couldn't get simple narratively satisfying hero arcs because that's a trope.
