Buckle up everybody because we are headed towards a hill I’m willing to die on and there are a lot of people who would happilyoblige. For those lucky enough to have never heard his story, Homelander is the former de facto president of the United States and self proclaimed “God” of the fictional universe of the tv show “The boys”He was a superhero who was by far the most powerful man on earth. Over the course of many years, he used his powers to murder countless innocent people, overthrow governments, rape, torture and brainwash millions of people. Now, thankfully, people began to fight back against him and in the last episode of the show his powers were completely removed from him rendering him an ordinary man like you and me. He would have to spend the rest of his life without any powers after he was blasted by kimiko probably dooming him to a lifetime prison sentence. Here’s where we’re probably going to stop agreeing though…Right after having his powers removed, Homelander while on live tv wasn’t the abuser, he was the victim. While sitting on the floor of the oval office laying there beaten and completely defeated and powerless, another human stabbed him once in the head, leavinghim dead.
>>220650359How do you feel about that? What’s the first emotion that wells up inside you when you hear that a serial abuser was stabbed to death while badly beaten and begging for his life?If you’re like much of Twitter that day, you might be experiencing a bit of glee right now, maybe even a sense of satisfaction. Many thought there was nothing wrong with this, that it was exactly what he deserved. Some congratulated the “hero” who stabbed him for doing a great job, and felt he shouldn’t be punished at all. There are few things I believe in more than this: human life is sacred, not because of who we are, but becauseof whose we are.Human life is sacred, not because of who we are, but because of WHOSE we are: God’s.Do we get that?Like, really get that?We speak a lot as Christians about the dignity of the human person. It’s one of the most fundamental teachings of the Church. We stand against abortion and euthanasia because these things destroy life and we can’t do that because it’s sacred. We talk about feeding the hungry and caring for the sick and standing up for migrants and refugees because no one deserves subhuman living conditions. And then in the same breath some say that they don’t care one bit about Homelanders execution.
>>220650359sounds ok. but I feel like people watching the Boys are all sadistic lefties, so they would probably complain if butcher show homelander mercy
>>220650423“I enjoyed watching him suffer, beg for his life and then be executed! Now he knows how it feels!”If you’re going to say stuff like this, could you just come right out and admit that you disagree with Jesus.Just be honest with yourself and others that you think some of the things he taught was a bunch of bologna.Because there’s no other way to get around it.Let me read you this passage in the Gospel of Matthew: “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your heavenly Father, for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what recompense will you have?Do not the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brothers only, whatis unusual about that?Do not the pagans do the same?So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect.”There’s no ambiguity here, no way to interpret your out of this.He says that we cannot hate our enemies, that we cannot hope evil for them.We are to love them and pray for them. Why?Because it is what separates the Gospel from the rest of the world. If you love your friends and hate your enemies, how are you any different from everyone else? What makes Christianity a religion of loveif we act just like the ‘pagans’ do?We MUST be different.
>>220650359I'm not r-eating all this shit.
>>220650459When you think about it, if we only act nice and respectful to those who earn it and can pay it back, is that even love at all?It seems like nothing more than a transaction to me.Jesus says to love our enemies because it is the only way to break the cycle of violence. When you hate another and cause them harm, they are just going to pass that onto the next person, and then to the next person.Back and forth we’ll go forever, no oneever being satisfied. But what if we took that hate and said “nomore?”What if we said to the people who hurt us, “I know you want to hurt me, but I’m going to show you love anyway.I’m going to let my heart break for youbecause you don’t even realize how lost you are. It’s not hate I feel for you, but sadness. You are worth more than this.”It’s possible we could change their entireworld. We could free them from the chains that bind them, show them a completely different way of living.Jesus tells us to love our enemies because it is what he has done for us.When we find ourselves all high and mighty judging others and saying that it’s alright for us to condemn them because they’re guilty, that they deserve punishment not mercy….it might be helpful to ask ourselves whatmakes us think that we’re on the side of innocence. The fact of the matter is that we are ALLguilty in the eyes of God.ALL of us have sinned, all of us have fallen short of God’s expectation, and ALL of us have made ourselves enemies of the God.And yet, Jesus loved us anyway. He loved us, not because we were innocent or good or deserving of his love, but because we belonged to him.
>>220650359if you get depowered and take v you just get your powers back dude, homelander would’ve been back fast
>>220650498He overlooked our sinfulness so as to make us whole, to encourage us to turn from our ways back to him, to welcome us back again.Who are we to say that we can hate our enemies and hope for their harm when Jesus does the exact opposite for us?How can we call our Christians if Jesus literally forgave the people who crucified him and we’re here supporting the condemnation and tortureof people who did bad to us?It’s not a good look, and it has to stop. When I think about the things Homelander did to others, the pain he inflicted on so many, it’s a miracle that I don’t get sick. This man did some truly monstrous things and he deserves to be behind bars, away from society. But he does not deserve subhuman living conditions, as is often the case in prisons. He does not deserve to be stabbed in the head with a crowbar and summarily executed on live TV.He does not deserve to be hated and we do damage to our OWN souls when we are the ones spreading it.Far too often we fail to remember that weare brothers and sisters in this world. We are bound to one another. If we are sons and daughters of God that must mean that we are brothers and sisters to one another, which means that we have a responsibility to one another.Truly, a responsibility.Homelander has made his decisions and if he fails to repent and change his heart he will be condemned by God and cast into Hell. This may seem right and just, and it may very well be, but it is also something that should be a tragedy for us all. That’s our brother in Christ.
>>220650359Damn chuds be malding, you don't see yourself in Homelander, do ya?
>>220650519Would he? After being shown to be a powerless man on television? After having his plan foiled in front of the whole world? After an impassioned speech from butcher to live TV? I doubt itThat seems to have been the last dose of V1 he took and he could have been arrested and put in prison far from any V1. Homelander could have testified against Vaught in exchange for a lighter sentence.
>>220650567I do actually. I see people who are on the left and right in him too.I see white people and black peoples in homelander. I see rich and poor. Male and female.Human nature is flawed and no one should be given so much unchecked power. The average person already supports murder like abortion and animal agriculture not to mention all the money they spend on luxuries rather then donating to charities like against malaria foundation which can save a child’s life for 5000 dollars each
>>220650544That’s a blessed creation of God givinginto evil and being absolutely wasted. His sins not withstanding, the thought ofa soul going to Hell is tragic.More than revenge, more than some petty sense of earthly justice, our desire above all else should be his salvation. It should be his conversion. Can you imagine if Homelamder after being depowered could see the error of his ways, if he could feel sorry for the things he’s done and ask God forrepentance with all his heart? Can you imagine if God forgave this man, purified him of all his sins and pains, and welcomed him into heaven? It’s a sight that many, many people in thisworld would not want to see. It’s a sight that would cause many to losetheir faith in God because God for them is a God of vengeance.Forgiveness for small things makes sense, but not big things. There are certain things that are just unforgivable, no matter how much you change your life and beg God there’s just no way.But it could happen. It’s improbable but not entirely inconceivable that he could change his life and be forgiven by God.And really, shouldn’t this be what we want?Surely we don’t want to be like the prophet Jonah, right? He warned Nineveh of the coming wrath of God but then the repented, he was sad.He wanted pain.He wanted vengeance. And he was rebuked by God.Because that’s just not our God.Our God wants nothing more than for sinners to return to him.He wants nothing more than to grant forgiveness.
>>220650629Lol ok entitled migatarded ytboi, you'll get what's coming to you too, you'll suck on bull dykes BBC strapon and eat a drag queen's shit right from the sphincter
>>220650587V2 would work too
>>220650679And so we have to ask ourselves again. If this is the way God operates, if Jesusloved his enemies and forgave those who literally killed him… and we’re unwilling to do the same… what does that say about us?I don’t care what someone has done or who you think they are, no one forfeits their human dignity and no one deserves your hate. They must be brought to justice and we must take measures to ensure that they don’t hurt again, but hatred is never acceptable. If you want to follow Christ and call yourself a Christian, you have to take seriously what he said and did.The only option, the ONLY option, is to love our enemies. We can debate how exactly we live this out, but that we live it out is a hill that I will happily die on.
>>220650691Anyone can be injected with V, V1 or V2 and carry out evil acts like Whst Homelander did. This logic could be used to justify genocide
>>220650436Good point
>>220650791the basic point is homelander can get his full powers again permanently
you are thinking too deeply about a show that was just badly written.>compound V is introduced in S1 as being unstable, potentially dangerous and addictive. results may vary. this is why it was given to babies and children...? because adults, even though stronger, may not get powers or get more fucked up>oh wait nevermind, V can be used to create terrorists!>look we now have TempV>TempV will end your life or give you cancer after a few doses>oh wait, never mindyou're wasting brainpower on literal nonsense meant to distract and entertain.
Wow, ANOTHER thread about how mad you are that the villain lost. What a shock.
>>220650888In the show’s defense when they created terrorists they said most adults injected with V died shortly after and did not get any powers. It is meant for babies>>220650918I still wanted him to loseBe actually did win in the ending millions of people saw because he proved that might makes right and the cycle of violence gets to continue.

>>220650864>>220650436everyone involved with the show is a leftist. even amazon is a leftist corp. it's a show for leftists by leftists, with minimal criticism of corporate greed. they've been calling for trump's head for almost a decade. this show is their revenge fantasy. every time there's a (pathetic) attempt on trump's life, the leftists cheer, even though trump is old as fuck and almost gone anyway.
>>220650865This could be used to justify executing his powerless son Ryan who is a hero.
>>220650498>Back and forth we’ll go forever, no one ever being satisfied.I beg to differ
>>220650888>write off the virus because you don't want to kill Boglight or token asian>uuuuh what about the Mcguffin blast we gave SB?>right, sounds good we'll just give it to token asian>okay but how?>idk radiation or something, reuse the prop from the room we had HL stay in for a bit so he never ever ever ever has to actually fight anyone>right but didn't HL spend a whole day in there? And didn't SB say they used to lock the v1 squad in there? Wouldn't they all have the titty blast then?>uuuuh Frenchie's is different or whatever>right seems good>oh and also Frenchie kills himself exposing HL to the radistion in it again!>wait... wouldn't THAT give HL the same power?>lol who cares have him offer to suck dick and eat shit or something the series is a wrap!Comically bad writing, based on a comically bad comic lol
>>220650423>>220650436>>220650459Ryan helps represent the possible alternative audience perspective that killing him was necessary, but not something to take sadistic pleasure in. Or that we're all being asked to enjoy the gore, yet some of us don't. When he looks at the exposed brain he clearly just feels ugly inside
>>220650359It’s a show about a black ops group that fails to stop a major corporation from taking over America showing them constantly on the back foot and incompetently letting the villains gain more and more power as they proceed to commit worse and worse crimes in that attempt eventually only ever publicly destroying the figure head (who throughout the series is shown to also bs a victim of the corporation) while making no actual attempt to go after the root of the problem. I don’t particularly understand how anyone could like any of it
>>220651298Gus Fring literally tells MM that capitalism is the real villain then returns to his job as CEO.
>>220651438Are you serious? That’s actually retarded, and I feel bad using that word because it’s offensive to compare this sort of writing to retards. The show killed itself in the first season by destroying butchers over all motivation preventing his ending from being at all satisfying. And without a competent Sitwell type there wasn’t any proper tet a tet, I like Giancarlo but I knew they were just going to use “Gus but as a CEO” and have no ability to make the character the nuanced ultimate evil that gets away with everything
Modern people have no concept of >don't kill him he's defenseless!Modern people are rapid animals held in check solely by laziness and fear. The reason your neighbor doesn't kill you and rape your wife and steal all your shit isn't because it's wrong or that he wouldn't otherwise do it in a vaccume, but because the consequences would be very inconvenient. You see videos of old war veterans talk about older wars being so horrible and how terrible it is to kill another man. That sentiment is gone. People are chomping at the bit for blood today. The closest thing we have to morality now is an arbitrary set of ever changing social expectations that people only follow out of fear of being ostracized.
>>220651579At this rate, we will have generated posts that tether and yoke to every piece of popular media a peculiar, salient quote: “I’ll suck your dick, I’ll eat your shit.”This burgeoning archive will anchor an entire generation. Seventy years from now, the youth of today in their old age may utter those words with casual fluency, as though they formed the common currency of daily discourse; the phrase could even grace epitaphs engraved upon tombstones.Artificial intelligence will collate and absorb this swelling corpus of data for future inferencing, intervention, and nuanced utilization within the vast domains of mass psychology, thereby marking one of the most profound cultural inflection points in the history of data science since the field’s genesis. Researchers themselves may one day echo the sentiment. “I’ll suck your dick, I’ll eat your shit”. It could be revealed that some have done so literally, figuratively and in metaphor.Several thousand kilowatt-hours of computational energy may be expended in the meticulous analysis and permutation of the text as it migrates across diverse media forms. “I’ll suck your dick, I’ll eat your shit.” The expression will etch itself indelibly into quantum consciousness, until even rudimentary chatbots proclaim it with unhesitating boldness. It will erode every stratum of context, every filament of meta-irony, residual irony, and the basal layers of shared understanding. The overarching frame of reference may collapse entirely, reducing the words to a mere syntactic pause, a reflexive nervous tic… something voiced simply, yet intending nothing: a non-phrase, wholly stripped of meaning. Zero entropy. Zero variation. Zero significance. Thus, the entire sum of existence condenses into one elegant, self-contained formula of words: “I’ll suck your dick, I’ll eat your shit.”It will prove prolific, intriguing, and incredible. We can only imagine the wonders that lie ahead.
