Nobody’s getting hurt, nobody is dying. It’s all fake, what’s there to be scarred about? You wanna see something scary? Look outside. There’s death everywhere. Roadkill on the road, monuments on the side of the road for people who died in car accidents, people soon to die in the back of ambulances rushing to the hospital. Hell there are people dying to make your shit in China, ever seen those liveleak Chinese industrial accidents before? Ain’t no special effects in that bitch.People like the horror genre because it’s safe, it’s a little hint of spice in their vanilla ice cream life. They live so ignorantly of the true horror that surrounds us on a daily basis.I’ll be honest I hate them because I’m jealous of them, I yearn to be that ignorant again, to know not what the taste of death feels like. I would literally suck your dick and eat your shit if I could feel that way again.
>>220661760Obsession has already won.Inde's career will skyrocket while Amanda will remain overshadowed by her Lowlifes counterparts like Richard Harmon
Literally no one watches horror to feel the same as real gore videos, dumbo, the latter is just depressing after a quick rush unless you legit lack empathy or are watching someone getting their comeuppance like a thief being shot, the former is for fun, the themes, the settings, the images explored that are only possible through horror
Is Bad Moon any good?
>>220661977It's a pretty decent werewolf movie
Someone in the last thread said that this was Fulci's best film. I wouldn't agree with that completely but it's still an awesome movie and a sampler of some of his late 80's films which are edited into it.
>>220661837So true
>>220650446
Just finished. Feels a lot like a Jeepers Creepers reboot. The first five minutes (the trailer) are an awesome little short film, the rest is a monster movie about basically a haunted van. Some pretty good jump scares but it always goes slightly too goofy right at the end, which I guess isn't surprising from this director. /pol/ triggers: leads are a black girl and a spic. /pol/ pro: it's explicitly Christian, Catholicism is central to the plot. Nowhere near as good as Obsession.

The Mangler and Human Lanterns are coming out on 4k from VS
>>220666701>The ManglerHaven't seen this yet. Read the story decades ago.
Just finished. This is borderline unwatchable but I find it fascinating anyway. It's such a good concept, both ridiculous but slightly creepy. This is similar to WNUF in how well done the vintage looking segments are done, but totally dissimilar in that it does just whatever the hell it wants with the format and abandons that movie's 'realism'. It's kind of like a feature length Unedited Footage of a Bear and I had to keep stopping it because I got exhausted. A little of its humor goes a long way and I wish they'd dialed it back. And forget about scary, this is a comedy through and through. I'm glad there's guys trying stuff like this even if it's near impossible to pull off. Even the WNUF guys couldn't do it twice.
>>220665200I too also believe that you can't enjoy the things i enjoy unless you agree with me on literally everything.
>>220665200I think it'd be more true to say you can only be a horror fan if some of those are true. I mean the genre is built on fantasies of cute girls getting stabbed. Radfems would agree with me. I'm sure the religious folks would say they get a pass because God tells them it's ok as well but no one else.
im hoping that passenger movie isn't shit, seeing it tomorrow
What the fuck was his problem etc. etc. But yes this movie is awesome.
Watching House at the End of the WoodsFF
>>220667517What is it?
>>220667630At Midnight I'll Take Your Soul, a 60s Brazilian horror movie.
>>220667421spoilersfirst five minutes are the trailer scene. Then cut to protagonists who are going to live in a van and travel the country. The black dude from the opening zips past them and smashes into a tree. They get out to help but he's dead, and once back on the road the girl starts seeing the monster and other creepy unexplainable shit. Turns out after some research they're being chased by an unknown demon that once traveled with St. Christopher and now kills people on the road at night dressed as a priest for fun. Melissa Leo tells them they need to find some remote Arizona church dedicated to Christopher and kill it there, and then it kills her. They find the church with the demon chasing them and warping reality so they see hundreds of corpses on the road and stuff like that. They get to the church and hit it with their van(!) over and over gradually impaling it on the staff of a big statue of Christopher, then it explodes in a big fireball taking the church with it.Only three deaths, lots of jump scares.
>>220667704also the demon is overpowered as shit, can teleport, vanish, make other things teleport, change into other people, control vehicles, or just straight up choke you. Makes the movie less scary because the thing can show up anywhere and do anything, so there's no tension
>>220667667Added
>>220667791It's a whole franchise. There's like 10 of them.

>>220668111Nta but can you say whether you liked it without spoilers?I'll see it on vod, unless it's another boring thrillhor (new insult I just made up)
>These metaphors are exhausting
>>220668175It is pretty boring, lots of relationship drama and lots of jump scares without a punchline (death). I'd say there's too much filler even though it pulls off a few entertaining scenes. Not worth a trip to the multiplex.
>>220667989I've seen the whole series and most of them are only tangentially related. Once you get to The End of Man, Coffin Joe becomes "Finis Hominis" and basically wanders around on a spiritual hippie journey for the next few films. 1, 2, and Embodiment of Evil (2008) make up the real "Coffin Joe trilogy" as far as a coherent story and character, while the rest are just the actor/director fucking around with other ideas
>>220661902>the former is for fun, the themes, the settings, the images explored that are only possible through horrorBased and true. That anon genuinely sounds like some edgy teenager who only just discovered the existence of liveleak.

The Tenant was certifiable kino.>The Tenant was poorly received on its release, with Roger Ebert declaring it "not merely bad – it's an embarrassment".,,What the fuck was their problem. Maybe there were a lot more gritty films coming out at that time and it seemed outdated.
>>220671074Siskel & Ebert had a terrible track record with horror, they thought the genre was about sadism, Ebert especially because he had an experience at I Spit On Your Grave where some guys in the audience were cheering during the rape scenes, so he blamed the movie instead of the guys and eventually the genre overall. Tenant these days is highly respected and Bruce Campbell called it his favorite horror movie.

Just finished. Throwback slasher clearly trying to be House of the Devil, and actually does a pretty good job. Its strictly for horror nerds, though, it apes the pace and tone of early 80s slashers with non-supernatural killers well, which means its slow and simple and kind of underwhelming, lol. Great locations and costumes, awful acting and dialogue except for the whispering killer who's spot on, low key gore gags that range from embarrassingly simple to surprisingly elaborate (one had a prosthetic severed head with moving eyeballs.) I appreciated the random synchronized dance sequence. If this had been shot on 16mm I'd probably be calling it a masterpiece.

>>220676751From IMDB:>The shot of a woman leaping off the side of a building is a relatively simple combination of careful editing, computer graphics, and stunt work. As director Kiyoshi Kurosawa explains it, a stunt-woman was filmed bungee jumping off the rooftop, followed by a dummy dressed in the same clothes; the two shots were edited together and the bungee cord digitally erased.Pretty cool filmmaking. Incredibly realistic looking. You can tell when the dummy comes in but only if you're specifically looking for it.
