I'm 32-years-old and have never had a girlfriend. This movie pissed me off because it reminds me that women piss and shit just like we all do. How do guys handle it? Having sex with their girlfriends knowing that they dispense fecal matter from their assholes and urine from their pussies. Disgusting. What's even the point?
>>
>>220683209
Haven't seen the movie, but I definitely wouldn't mind it.
>>
She was a straight up bitch who strung him along the whole time. She never told him she was sleeping with his friend — even though everyone else knew. She loved the attention and enjoyed having him simp over her. She knew he had a big crush on her but deliberately kept it quiet because she didn’t want him to move on.
That’s some cold, manipulative, bitchy behavior. She knew exactly what she was doing and got off on secretly humiliating him while keeping him on the hook.
Fuck her. She got exactly what she deserved.
>>
>>220684038
It's a disgusting lie. Of course women don't piss and shit. They are beautiful angelic creatures that bless unworthy brutish men with their mere attention. One looked in my general direction and smiled once. It was the greatest experience of my life and I'll treasure it always.

This movie is actually worse than you think.

You can just tell it's some allegory about women getting into a relationship with a guy for whatever selfish reason, and how it's like some kind of a 'living Hell' for them to go through the motions with a man they don't really like and continue to pretend they like him. Then it's somehow all his fault for not reading her mind, noticing her passive-aggressive 'signals', and sacrificing his own interests to release her.

Not even kidding. That's obviously what this is.

A woman's wedding vows, promises, and other shit she said to convince you that she loves you too, just so she didn't have to spend her nights alone, had someone to pay her bills, or wanted to get married before all her friends did - they aren't her fault in her own mind - they're yours. You wanted her, wooed her, and locked her in just like you used a One Wish Willow to 'make' her do it.

She wakes up one day and ACTUALLY BELIEVES you somehow tricked her into the situation because you're an evil, selfish, uncaring man, and that justifies her doing any crazy shit she wants to get back at you and make you end it.

That's the truly scary horror here. That this shit actually happens to men IRL.

You best start believin' in the crazy delusions of women laddy - you're in one!
>I mean most of you aren't, but even if you do get into a relationship it will be some shit where she's 'settling' for you because you're not Chad.
>>
>>220684836
Lmao dude, one of the first things that cross my mind wwas that literally most women throughout history have been married off to some guy they're not truly in love with and most of them have just dealt with it throughout history. Vilarious, that this is depicted as some like, truly horrific hell like she has 0 love for this guy. So the experience of being forced to love em is just like apparently the worst thing on planet earth
>>
Women compress their waste down into a cube. Once a month they eject the cube, which has come to be known as their "period", the cramps and bleeding are from the cube-extrusion, as it has sharp corners. The fiction of "uterine lining being cycled out of the body after building up all month for no reason" has been constructed to conceal the female waste-ejecting process. Think about that from an evolutionary perspective, why would the body spend resources building up the lining of the uterus when there was no babby even in there? It doesn't make any sense, it would be like if your teeth fell out every month to make room for new teeth. It's a waste cube.

Because the film shows us that Bear only wants out because the social consequence of his wish has become greater than the social gain of dating Nikki, not that he cares about the real Nikki.

>>220687289
No it's not a monkeys paw type thing. At least, not inherently. Bear's problem was the wish itself. I mean, it probably could have made her fall in love with him without being psychotic and without giving her a dual personality, but I guess it's a fuck you from the wishing willow for messing with someone's agency.
>>
>>220688345
Apparently the Willow couldn't completely destroy Nikki's will. So it was like forcing her to love him against her will and that was what she was fighting against?

Idk

>>220688037
>Because he got killed by nikki
Yes in a karmic way
>>
>>220688345
>but I guess it's a fuck you from the wishing willow for messing with someone's agency
You had it right up until you wrote this. No man, the problem was within the wish itself Bear specified an actual intensity of love. "I wish nikki freeman would love me more than anyone in the entire FUCKING world."
Freaky Nikki was constantly experiencing a supernatural level of love and infatuation that's normally not humanly possible and so far away from where original Nikki was (in reality, she had unexplored feelings for Bear) that it resulted in a new distinct entity emerging that supplanted her original personality.

>>220688535

It's degrading for the woman, men are not worth that much attention.
>>
>>220689750
>Then again, I already got my wish. what do I care if other people know about it
The more people know the more word gets around. Next thing you know you have scalpers buying up all the wishes jacking up the prices, then the government gets involved and starts limiting who can have wishes, then you'll have Temu quality wishes that are actual monkey paw situations.
It's a slippery slope
>>
>>220689937
Yeah, but I've already got my wish, so I don't care if the price of other people's wishes goes up.
>>
>>220684836

>>220690097
what if someone wished to undo your wish, smart guy?
>>
>I wish that I was the most handsome man in the entire world while still retaining some physical characteristics I identify as "me" and that I live an unnaturally long life
One of the rules says you cant wish for immortality but I bet wishing for a longer lifespan is fine. You could say that contained two separate wishes but if it's invalid I just wont be able to snap the willow and will have to try again presumably like when Bear tried to make a second wish, or it only does the first wish so I just become perfect looking with a regular lifespan. You could easily cash in on your looks so a decent sum of money would come eventually anyway. It's dumb and boring to wish for currency
>>
>>220690185
that is just so incredibly unlikely
>smart guy
yeah watch this
Why would someone waste their ONE wish on negating my wish? The hate required to do that is incredible and I don't have any drama in my life.
Why would I tell people that I made a wish, ever? Except for maybe someone I really trusted

Also I think the concept of wishes being available in a store to the public is fucking absurd if you think about it for two seconds because someone could just wish for the world to end or something dire along those lines. SO, there intrinsically has to be a sort of whimsy to the whole situation. Magic fuckery going on to where anything good or bad that happens to you is relatively localized.
>>
>>220690274
I mean your wish isn't entirely contained within your experience. If someone gets affected by it they could undo your wish out of their own self interest. Unless your wish is entirely altruistic or intangible like "I wish I was good at carpentry".
>>
>>220690274
>>Why would someone waste their ONE wish on negating my wish? The hate required to do that is incredible and I don't have any drama in my life.
you must be new around here lol
>>
>>220690407
>If someone gets affected by it they could undo your wish out of their own self interest.
You need to offer an example if we're gonna discuss this.
Anyone can do anything, but if we're talking about likelihood here (someone with an average IQ), their wish would not negate your wish but would instead put themselves in a better position.
Say you were a dumb teenager who wished to be the most popular guy at your school and your friend learnt of the wish and got jealous, depending on how he worded the wish it wouldn't stop you from being popular. For example "I wish I was more popular than anon" that wouldn't stop you from being popular, you'd just be #2 popular now. An interesting idea would be what would happen if they made the exact same wish as you word for word. You cant both be the most popular person at school. And you cant both be equally #1 popular because that's not what you wished for. Would it be by determined by order of wish date maybe? The new wish overrides the old?
>>
>>220683284
congrats, thats how women worked before the modern era.
>>
>>220690550
your example was good enough to prove my point. Better yet two rival highschool football players wishing they won the tournament. Since the store clerk says you can get someone else to undo your wish then he who wishes last wins. So if you already made your wish it becomes your problem
>>
>>220683599
Or simply add a trigger word
>I wish she became so obsessed with me when I say the word "nigger" and saying "nigger" again will stop her obsession until I say "nigger" again
Easy
>>
I would suck her pussy and eat her shit.
>>
>>220690755
The point of my post was to demonstrate that you would both still be in a better position post wish than before which was not your position.
>Since the store clerk says you can get someone else to undo your wish then he who wishes last wins
No, that doesn't follow. I was speculating with that idea but that's all we have. Wishing to specifically negate a wish and wishing for the same thing which introduces a logic problem are not the same thing.
>>
>>220690588

The air was charged by the distant call of the night bird.

His face was obscured but, I knew he was looking at my chest.
Each side stretching, recently matured to different sizes.

‘Hansel? Come lie with me like the old woman taught us when we were children.’
I said.

He closed the door and leaned against it.

‘You’re not my wife, Gretel.’
He said.

‘I’m more than your wife…… I’m your sister!’

Hansel flinched, and reached for the doorhandle.

I knew he would not leave this place.
He would relent, and choose to be inside me like he had many nights before.

If not, I would flay his meaty forearm, roll it like a stick of licorice and insert the flesh between my legs.

Hansel is my soul.

A love, only the branch of a willow tree could conjure.

Brother… you will be inside me tonight.”

The discussions about this movie are insanely retarded. People, especially on Reddit, think Bear is this rapist who possessed a girl with a demon so he could violate her consent! The movie is actually a decent horror film with some respectable jump scares thats really about how young men are so afraid to court women, even when they clearly like them, they would rather a magic genie make the woman fall in love with them. I assumed this was "real" Nikki bubbling to the surface subconsciously through her writing.

The subtext of the poem is suggesting Nikki loved him like a brother which is part of what is creating dissonance between her and "freaky Nikki" she's revolted by the idea but compelled to act due to the influence of the wish.

>incel gets the girl
>realizes they're insane
Pretty good premise. A shame that the discourse surrounding the movie is "he demon raped her", which sure is what happened in the movie. But in real life BPD women actually act like this.
>>
>>220695148
Nope, she had unexplored feelings for him. Actress herself confirmed it, but the movie made it very clear.

First off the guy you were replying to originally is a completely mentally ill moron so I agree what you said that she wasn't "stringing him along." My reply to you is just me disagreeing about her not having feelings for him. She did.
The actress helped Curry craft the character of Nikki btw. I'm sorry if that upsets you. I said the movie made it very clear and I'm happy to be more specific about that.

>I cant talk to anyone else about this stuff except for you
Nothing substantial on its own, but I'll include it because it hints at deeper feelings for him.
>No one knows when I have a crush on someone
This falls in line with the "ewww" moments. Nikki is very guarded, as is Bear. It's shown in the movie that despite his crush, Bear doesn't actually know much about her and vice versa.
>Do you like me? Because now is the time to tell me.
I'm paraphrasing all these quotes the best I can remember but it's something along those lines. This is the big one.
She's literally being as forward as she possibly can be to someone who very obviously likes her but hasn't said anything yet. She's giving him the chance to ask her out, because she would have said yes. Girls dont ask that question to bully you and immediately say no. They just wouldn't ask the question. If you think they would, Nikki is not that type of person.
>>
>>220696061
I think the movie framed certain things in a way to muddy the water a little bit, like when she said that she likes a guy with feminie qualities after he orders a gay drink.
>>
>>220695954
>>220696061
And by the way, the movie is only better for this being the case. You're literally playing into the reddit narrative of "this movie is about a nice guy loser who took advantage of a woman who never would have slept with him." No, a layer of tragedy to the story is that she would have given him a shot. She liked him. He didn't have to make a wish.

Holy fuck no, I'm having flashbacks to a girlfriend I had for almost a month when I was 19 and she almost got me killed.
>be me
>at a music club
>cute goth girl comes over
>an old school friend of my friend's girlfriend
>we flirt, she's really into me, I drive her back to her place, we fuck
>but she's REALLY overdoing it, basically narrating all of it, overreacting to everything, just really off-putting
>finally nut and she says "I hope the condom broke"
>should've realised then she was insane
>she got more and more clingy with each passing day
>broke into my house saying she forgot something there but she actually took my hoodies and some photos of me
>she started using MSN to threaten all my female friends into blocking me
>I met up with my sister and this crazy bitch keyed my car thinking it was another girl
>decide to break up with her
>she starts having a fucking breakdown
>grabs a knife and threatens to kill herself
>I get it off of her and she runs to the window
>not high enough in her block of flats to die from jumping but she still claims she will
>eventually backs down
>I go to leave, and she gets in the car with me and refuses to get out
>only wearing her dressing gown
>I say I'm driving her to hospital, she clearly needs help
>we stop at traffic lights
>she starts screaming and waving at the car next to us
>says I'm kidnapping her
>guys get out and start getting aggressive
>I drive off, they follow
>she's laughing like a maniac saying I'm going to get what I deserve
>pull up to a police station for safety
>the guys are still there
>they're still aggressive
>police are luckily there and calm them down
>I tell the police the whole story
>the guys apologise and leave
>the police take her in for me
>she goes with them, telling them I raped her and beat her and threatened to stab her
>they have to take the accusations seriously and detain me as well
>only got released because they had a file on her from previous "boyfriends" she'd gone mental on
>>
>>220696181
The thing 4chan never mentions about bpd girls is they can get a lot better. Basically just ending up as pretty normal, slightly needy, very loving people. It doesn't even take long term meds, it's mostly just therapy
>inb4 "therapy"
It works for this. Therapy in this context is having someone impartial that can question them when they get crazy ideas and recontexualize what they're feeling. The impartial observer element of a therapist gives them a safe environment to do this.

>Therapy in this context is having someone impartial that can question them
Therapy absolutely does not help when they're having a meltdown. Therapy may help reduce the severity and number of meltdowns, but they will absolutely still happen.
>>
>>220696293
I think the lesson is to let someone kill themselves when they threaten to, and to simply say "Ok" and walk away. Seems like that would've solved his problem?

anyone here played the coffin of andy and leyley?
after they killed Sarah and started burying the body together I really got that vibe. Bear is a similarly weak willed pushover as Andy who will always just take the path of least resistance in his codependant relationship, no matter how extreme that path becomes. there's an alternate ending where Bear didn't get pushed over the edge by Sarah's death and instead they have to go on the run and he's trapped in this relationship
>>
>>220696293
It wasn't intended to be a one night stand at the time, just a really intense and rushed start to what I thought was going to be a relationship, because she seemed cool and quirky, it was just like the mask started slipping once her clothes were off.

>>220696377
Assuming she actually would've done it, instead of just threatening it for attention/insanity, that is. If I had just left, all I would've had is a now pissed off and potentially violent stalker still coming after me, looking for new ways to try to fuck up my life. If anything, I was lucky she got in the car that night and it ended quick after that.

using the power of the magic "love me more than anything" spell it should have been possible to train her.

"Don't do this or I won't love you." now in order for her to adhere to the magic curse she has to never do certain things.

But noooo, we just have to have the monkey's paw curl and can't show anyone being capable of working out how to easily defeat it because it was written to appeal to the basedcuck modern men that watch "horror" films to try and feel like real men.

>>220696667

>The wish could take away your arms and legs.
What the fuck made you think this. That line was included to not just morph into a perfect looking human who otherwise looks nothing like me which would cause huge damage to my psyche. Physical characteristics means maybe my eye color remains, the general shape of the mouth, a birthmark, things like this.
Before you argue about misunderstanding "physical characteristics" and that it was a bad choice of words, that's not the end of the wish, I say "that I identify as "me" right after. And given that the general wish is to make me the most handsome person in the world I assume that would probably include all of my limbs attached.
>Maybe, but it is pretty safe.
It is. I dont know why you would say that though. Based on everything else you've said you should be arguing that the money falls on you and kills you or it's in jamaican dollars or some bullshit monkey's paw interpretation that you're applying to my wish for no reason. Get off my back pal

Yeah, I think that’s the film’s only major flaw. It has a lot of strong individual scene ideas, but doesn’t always know how to connect them. A lot of it feels forced, though the scenes themselves are good enough that you can mostly look past it.
>>
>>220696808

Realistically could a 5ft woman on a ton of drugs headbutt through a cars window and then remain consious and beat someone to death with a brick? Does freaky Nikki have super strength? Yeah, that part confused me. I also didn't really get the hospital scene after she best herself up at the party. Did Nikki refuse to be hospitalize? Or did the paramedics not want to take her in? Realistically the police would probably think he beat her or something.

Loving more than anyone in the fucking world implies she loves bear more than she loves herself. NikkNikkii doesn't care about her own health or safety.

Also you can't just max out love and leave everything else the same. The human mind doesn't work that way. You max out all emotions, hence the wild mood swings.

by far the most unsettling movie i’ve ever seen. seeing both halves of myself depicted like that. “i’ll be anything for you.” “please kill me she’s sleeping i beg you.” holy fuck. having a fp doesn’t always mean you love them, but it does mean you feel like you can’t live without them. i’ve been w guys where i hated them but i couldn’t choose to stop thinking ab them or trying to find any way i could to speak to or be around them. even now with my boyfriend/husband who understands to the best capacity he can and never makes me feel bad for feeling or acting “crazy” the scenes about boys night and banging on the door were awful. the guy who made it either has to have bpd or his significant other. i sobbed the entire way through.

Yes. The modifier of love based on his wording of the wish is what messed things up, on top of the immoral act of the wish to force someone to feel somethng so intense, or forcing anything at all on them of course.
The wish was "I wish nikki freeman loved me more than anyone in the entire fucking world"

Another example is Sarah seeing Nikki at the party. Why not just hit him up and say that girl you are in a weird abusive relationship with is freaking out. Instead she acts completely unhinged and then casually asks to hang out at the park.

yeah, I've already seen a bunch of idiots head-canon that actually the wish reads your mind and accounts for your personal insecurities and your verbal wish doesn't actually matter
and that's all retarded bullshit that is not even hinted at in the movie
>The wish was "I wish nikki freeman loved me more than anyone in the entire fucking world"
yep, and because the guy who wrote the movie seems to be a virgin or something, the first thing she does is show up at his house and say "UH MY DAD'S DYING CAN I STAY WITH YOU PLEASE" for no reason instead of "hey, what's up, wanna hang out some more?" because the movie does not follow it's own rules, it wanted to be a movie where loser gets "punished" for daring to take away a woman's autonomy, but in a strange almost sexless way where none of it actually adds up
the movie is called obsession
they should've just made him wish that she was obsessed with him
but he specifically used the word love and nothing she does resembles love or even "toxic" love or even really "obsessive" love because the willow just disregarded what he said vs. someone who wished for money
because the willow wanted to "punish" him by ruining this girl's life by possessing her with a weird inconsistent alternate entity swaps places with real nikki at random while real nikki is like somewhere else or something

that's the bad writing I mentioned, to be consistent with their rules the monkey's paw should be easily defeated. It's part of the fun of the "thought experiment" you can do with these sorts of films. Any horror film where "the baddie just has a million powers and an everything proof shield and can't be beaten" are just pointless and gay, "ok well how would you beat something that can't be beaten?" well...you can't...that was a short and boring thought, almost like that shouldn't be the focus of any story, the focus should be on an interesting way to beat it.

>>
>>220697276
Because if you're not retarded you literally can't turn your brain off that much and bad writing is offensive to ones intellect. It's an involuntary reaction. The only thing more annoying is faggots trying to excuse and justify obviously illogical shit.

If Kurt Russell defeated the 'Thing' by doing a little dance and farting in its face, that wouldn't make a very good movie would it? at least not a kino horror film anyway. Then if someone tried to justify it by saying, "Who says thing aliens can't be killed by farts - it's alien, so you can't prove they don't", that wouldn't make the film any more satisfying. Just make you look like a retard who is entertained by anything, starting with jangling keys.

Now stop sounding like a retard and get off the fucking Internet.
>>
>>220697340
his decisions are irrelevant when the premise is faulty
he makes the wish and then the second she's under its influence she's acting like harley quinn or something with a secret plan to murder him for a bag of jewels he has hidden somewhere but she's also a bad actress who can't maintain her fake interest him for longer than 25 minutes at a time, and he just ends up being uncomfortable and inconvenienced until she hurting herself and others, but that doesn't happen for a while

>>220697361

>>
>>220697382

>>
>>220697322
I remember and I'm pretty sure that was Ian too, if I were Bear I wouldve said no and made Sarah take her while I explained what was going on to Ian (Ian would hopefully see this as reasonable since he previously accused Bear like I mentioned)
>>
>>220697423
Do you not understand how the evil dead demons act vs the one on this movie?
>>
>>220697391
I don’t really think the premise is that faulty. The idea is that the real Nikki is still in there. She’s just battling against this new overwhelming urge she has to override all her other instincts and love Bear more than anything. So it’s this interesting idea of how consciousness even works if one part of it is programmed against the instincts of the other parts.

I mean, it's like if you were forced to believe in something you consciously didn't believe it and yet your body was instinctually wired to pursue that
>>

too bad the set up was "I wish she loved me" and not "I found a book of evil magic and cast a spell to make her love me using google translate but some of the words were in cthulu speak so I don't actually know the full extent of what I did"
>>
>>220697335
>think she was possessed by a demon
Typical headcanon justifications where you literally have to make shit up because the writer didn't do their fucking job properly.

It's like pareidolia where you try to match what your seeing to the closest possible match, so okay a demon might explain it I guess. But does that mean a demon is up in the ceiling dropping a billion dollars on his buddy too? Does that mean the willow thing works on demonic magic? Was his buddy getting killed by the girl the monkey paw result of his wish?

Go ahead, make up whatever answers you like to explain it.

That kind of fuckery can be used in a good way by a good writer, but not the clown who wrote this shit. It's not clever or thought-provoking, just annoyingly inconsistent and totally insufficient. I don't care what they say either. They want you to think you just saw a clever film, but you actually didn't.

Hard disagree.

I think what’s more interesting with the wish is that it’s very literal, and that’s why it’s horrifying. If the evil itself was malicious, it would undermine the point that forcing someone to love you against their will is itself evil, which is what the movie was going for
>>
>>220697513
>possessed by the world's worst succubus, anon
>he wished for nikki to love him
Because she wasn't possessed by a demon dude she was having her will/consciousness modified by the wish. There was no demon, the only "demon" was this entity rewiring her brain to love. The director deliberately said they were not doing that

Well, I think you're being very literal and ignoring that the director just obviously wanted to take it in a specific direction to explore. I mean, if you were just going with the angry demon version it would just be an Evil Dead movie and less interesting and unique. No one really knows what would happen in this scenario so I don't mind seeing this angle, and I can watch it without nitpicking it to death.

I don’t see the internal-logic problem. The wish doesn’t make Nikki calmly and healthily love Bear. The "love" forced onto Nikki is extreme and manifests that way. That's the logic.

People do crazy things over love in real life like stalking, murder, suicide, psychotic breaks, etc. So why would the supernatural version have to look like some sweet, well-adjusted girlfriend?
>>
>>220697913
my favorite part is someone in this thread said it wasn't like the evil dead but they literally have her face turn spooky and demonic multiple times
>>
>>220697616
What this rando anon just wrote after thinking about it for 18 seconds would make it at least make some kind of sense: >>220697472

The pity is that it doesn't need that much of a tweak to fix the problem, but at best they're trying to have their cake and eat it too somehow, or sadly more likely at worst, they think they can just go to some perfunctory effort and create some kind of masterpiece.

It's a thing with faggots these days to think they can deliver shallow shit and expect you to take it as read that something more meaningful just happened.

You see it with Zoomers when they apoligise. "I take full responsibility, I was in a dark place ... ", which means nothing and they don't actually take any responsibility at all or accept any consequences for their actions in fact. It's just a learned simulacrum of an apology.

In the same way that shit is a non-apology, shit in this film is non-writing where it's just a pale copy-of-a-copy-of-a-copy of the superficial aspects of better horror films with monkey paw shit. Like they'd watched better films about ambiguous wishes going bad, and totally missed the real point in any of them because they're too retarded.

It's like if I decided to make a film in the Western genre, so got myself a horse and a cowboy hat, but I never actually knew or understood anything about the Old West, gunfights, or that movie genre at all.
>so I just need two guys to stand at the ends of a street an shoot at each other after some sort of staring contest, right? That's how it works?
>>
>>220697930
>So why would the supernatural version have to look like some sweet, well-adjusted girlfriend?
she didn't really act like ANY kind of girlfriend at all
the first thing she does is come up with a weird unnecessary lie to get "close" because the demonic posession/brain formatting/bimbofication mindbreak hypnosis/wish compelled desire isn't very good at following his wish for some reason
>>
>>220697961
>It's a thing with faggots these days to think they can deliver shallow shit and expect you to take it as read that something more meaningful just happened.
See I do agree that the movie is not as deep as people praise it for. I just think it's a well executed horror film and can look past that. The scenes, cinematography and acting are the juice, not the philosophical depth imo.

a movie like this should've had her act like a bubbly, overly clingy but normal girlfriend for like a week and then things start getting out of hand when she spazzes because he's 5 minutes late coming home from the grocery store or something

The movie delivers has some kino moments. I don’t think nitpicking a Monkey’s Paw concept is fair, because it’s entirely speculative and subjective.

I’m sure you could nitpick most movies to death if you really wanted to. What a worthless reply.
If your wish for someone to love you, and they show up at your house almost immediately, they should
1) try to fuck you
2) try to kiss you
or
3) begin flirting in any sort of way
they should not, however go into a sob story about a dying relative that serves no purpose and only exists to be later discovered as a lie so you can have a scene where nikki spazzes out in a restaurant (but none of the extras actually care so there's not even any real drama)

the fact you had to use the phrase "unhealthy attachment" in order for your point to make sense, kind of proves us right that it isn't love.

It goes back to what I said about the line he says being wrong, that fundamentally breaks the whole monkey's paw wish premise of the film.

Had they had him say "I want her to be obsessed with me" (you know, like the fucking title) then it would just be a case of "stupid character says stupid thing" which is a boring film we've seen before but at least internally consistent.

Instead they went with "love" as the line and that breaks the rules of the film, so now it falls into the badly written, not thought through properly, slop category.

Let's take the Jim Carey movie, 'Liar Liar' as an example.

It's a simple premise, and there are times in that film where they obviously fuck up and he tells lies, or says something that is factually inaccurate. Your brain can't help but notice if you're paying attention. Nobody gives a fuck though because the rest of the movie is great, and it's obviously just a small lapse, (probably a result of Carey doing so much improv or whatever). Shit happens. That's not the problem.

This is more on the scale of the kid making a wish that says, "I wish Dad couldn't lie about coming to my birthday", and then we see Carey uncontrollably telling the truth about shit unrelated to the kid's birthday at all, but sometimes being able to lie, even about shit related to the kid's birthday - sometimes.

That wouldn't take away from the good aspects of the film in a vacuum, but it sure as shit would leave the audience confused and questioning everything that happens after. It would fuck up the story and payoff more bigly than it even deserves. You'd be distracted the whole film trying to figure out 'da rules'

Then if you had some idiot on the Internet try to argue the wording of the wish was fine because we don't know exactly how kid's birthdays wishes work, it was a demon, or pretend it was otherwise consistent somehow, as if the writers didn't totally screw the pooch, that would just annoy you.

Further, it would be a damn pity that they managed to fuck up such a good concept and performance in such a stupid way, when it could easily have been fixed and done so much better, because you can see the result when a simple concept like that is actually done right.
>inb4 I hate Jim Carey or that movie, therefore you are wrong

I've never said it's demonic possession, because it's never been demonic possession. The movie makes perfect sense and we've had a lot of good discussions in the threads the last 3 days talking about it and I'm sure you were a part of 0 of those.
This thread was good and then halfway through a bunch of shitposters came
>and I've been saying it's retarded here the whole
You've been calling a movie retarded for 3 days?
>>
>>220683209
>extremely hot girl is friends with group of losers
>she's also fucking the fat one
Most unbelievable part of the movie.
>>
>>220698736
Why dont you come up with something to say instead of the same bait post over and over?
>>
>>220698667
I think the movie follows its own internal rules fairly consistently. It establishes what the wish does: it rewires a person against their will and fractures their identity. Once that’s established, I don’t see how the movie fails to follow that rule. Demanding that the rule manifest differently because you’re too autistic to accept it is just retarded.

>the movie makes perfect sense
How about you and the rest of the fags who won't remember this movie in 2 months decide how the phone call worked
>thinks last Thursday means two days ago
Are Eurocucks already living in Sunday, or are you just retarded?
>>
>>220698696
>I'm a sexless zoomer like the director so I'm fine with this movie about romantic obsession only having one short fully clothed sex scene
no kidding
>>
>>220698765
>It establishes what the wish does: it rewires a person against their will and fractures their identity.
that is basically what happens, but the movie does not "establish" that
what if I wished for someone to die? or to not die?
how the willow grant but not really grant those wishes for me

I feel like based on your guys logic every story concept can only be told in one way. Like here's only one true literal version of it. So, Lord of the Rings, Spider-Man, there's only one way to tell those stories.
If they don't follow the truest urest form they are invlaid and I just disagree
>>
>>220698886
Yes, bad writing does take me out of a movie.
When the Wishmaster needs to collect people's souls, he tricks them into making vague or stupid wishes
>I want to be beautiful forever!
>*turns you into a statue*
When the director of Obsession wanted the dumb virgin loser to be punished for his objectification (I guess) of Nikki, he did not come up with a well written scenario through which that would occur, and yet still had it occur
>I wish this girl was in love with me
>*girl suddenly acts like a murderous 8 year old*
>>
>>220683209
Ok but who was phone?

Guys why didn't Bear's wish detail the entire rest of the script including scene direction? That would have made the movie actually make sense.
I am very smart

You're whining because logic and truth only works one way. Like a faggot who thinks they can pull the "my truth" bullshit.

There's still a gazillion ways to tell a story that's internally consistent, it's just lazy to whine about not being able to use the infinitude of ones where it isn't, as if that's somehow 'not fair', and the audience is somehow obligated to just swallow it.

If Captain America suddenly started flying by farting, you'd have a few perfectly reasonable questions, and wouldn't easily be satisfied by bad answers. That's because there are rules and limitations by which his powers work. It's not a bad thing, it forces good writers to really think about what they're doing with that character.

>He's still arguing it's a monkeys paw situation
Alright, I'm done. I tap out. This is going nowhere.
>>
>>220698944
wasn't the entire point that wishes that go against human will end up twisted? what is badly written about that? she didn't want to love him more than anything so she went nuts.
>>
>>220698951
It's very funny this is actually a valid question one can ask for this movie
>>220699114
I gave up talking to them 2 hours ago anon. Props to you
>>
>>220699114
Sorry, but when the monkey's paw brought the couple's dead kid back as a zombie, it made perfect sense
Maybe you should try learning the lore of buzzwords you're throwing around

>replying earnestly to spergs on /tv/ of all boards
lmao
>>
>>220699102
Im "whining" (not really) because you guys are insufferable midwits you think latching on to a an argument is valid criticism. You guys are just focusing on the wishes logic and whether it makes sense based on subjective definitons of love and how the wish would even manifest without talking about any of the other shit that makes the film good. It's literally a minor part of the film that doesn't really ruin the experience unless you're rainman
>>
>>220699122
>didn't want to love him
>still acts insanely jealous and hurts herself and kills people
having your cake and eating it, too
>>
New, I guess >>220698686

>>220699122
Because it's like wishing for a billion dollars and the 'monkey's paw' giving you a billion pesos instead. That's not what you wished for an there's no clever loophole - just a fuck you.

So why wouldn't the Wishmaster just slash the throat of anyone no matter what they wished for and say, "Hahaha surprise! I gave you something bad you didn't wish for at all!"

Because according to the rules of the wishes he can't. He can find a loophole to fuck you though, if he's clever enough. Just like you can find a loophole to fuck him, if you're clever enough.

Wish Willow shit just isn't. If everyone dropped dead they second they made any wish because 'lol demon' that would apparently be a great movie too by your reckoning.
