>Oh, I met Godard, when I was maybe 17, something like that. He had just made Sauve qui peut (la vie) (1980), and I provoked him by calling him a sheep and telling him he must do better. But I said this very gently. It was at Cannes, in a room full of journalists, and I didn't have a press card - all the women were saying to me "Oh ... you don't have a press card!" They were ready to throw me out ... out the window! Finally, Godard said "No, no! She must stay. I invite her to stay. She's right, she's right! I have become a sheep." He was really nice, I liked him a lot.

>B/D: Did you talk to him after the press conference?

>ZL: No, only during the press conference. We're not friends, though I sometimes run into him. But it was a good encounter. There were small items written about that in every magazine in the world. It was incredible: "Godard and a Little Girl …" But of course, nobody knew my name, because I was travelling under another name that year, in France and also in Cannes. (2)

2026 in Film, the Golden Era

Zendaya’s Biggest Year Yet Is Just Getting Started

On a misty April morning in New York, one of those spring days when the sun refuses to show itself, Zendaya is somehow at ease. She has been on a manic press tour, promoting the release of the film
>The Drama (2026)
mere weeks before the release of what’s expected to be the final season of
>Euphoria (the most tweeted television series of the 2020)
and only three months before the release of the soon-to-be summer events
>The Odyssey (2026) and
>Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026)
—which will be followed by
>Dune: Part Three (2026) in December.

This has been one of the busiest, most visible years of her career. “It’s going to be a long year, but what’s great is that I’m really proud of everything. I just really love my job,” she says.

Winner: Lucia Bosè, a 16-year-old from Milan.

Third Place: Gina Lollobrigida.
Fourth Place: Eleonora Rossi Drago.
Other Notable Contestants: Silvana Mangano.
>Miss Italia 1950
Anna Maria Bugliari: The winner of Miss Italia 1950.
Anna Maria Rossi (Miss Lazio): Placed 2nd overall and also won Miss Sorriso.
Liliana Cardinale: Awarded the title of Miss Cinematografo (Miss Cinema).
Sofia Scicolone (Sophia Loren): A 15-year-old candidate representing the Lazio region. Though she did not win the crown, judges created the unique "Miss Elegance" award specifically to honor her striking look
>1957
Claudia Cardinale's connection to Miss Italia traces back to 1957 when she won the title of "The Most Beautiful Italian Girl in Tunisia," an event held by the Italian embassy. This victory earned her a trip to Italy, where she subsequently attended the Venice Film Festival in 1958 and gained widespread attention from film producers.

What went wrong that no more models are turned into actresses with success anymore?

C'eravamo Tanto Amati or We All Loved Each Other So Much in English by Ettore Scola. It's seen as one of the all time great Italian films in Italy, but internationally it never really got the appreciation it deserved. Maybe because of distribution issues or something, honestly never understood why this film never gets picked in the Criterion Closet videos. You can watch it here: https://m4ufree.page/movie/we-all-loved-each-other-so-much-1974-oai07.html
There's a lot of references to Bicycle Thieves and La Dolce Vita in the movie but I expect most people on /film/ to have seen both of those.

Yes, undergoing feminizing hormone replacement therapy (HRT) — typically estrogen combined with testosterone blockers — will decrease your performance in film discussion.

Film discussion relies heavily on quick recall, thoughtful analysis, nuanced interpretation, and sustained attention. Feminizing HRT fundamentally alters your body's physiology in ways that directly reduce these mental capabilities compared to your pre-HRT baseline.

Have you seen Nell'anno del Signore AKA The Conspirators? Compared to Scola's film, it's pretty obscure even in Italy, which is a bit surprising given the cast (Cardinale, Manfredi, Tognazzi, Sordi).
It's set in late Papal Rome, and if I remember right it all happens at night, with this really quiet, almost eerie version of the city where the streets are basically empty. It's not some big classic or anything, but if you're into that period it's an interesting watch.

I wish we could all be together, guys, like renting out a whole place just for us and sharing our love for cinema. Laughing, crying, hugging it out together. It'd be such an incredible communal experience. At the end, I can't rule out that I might kill you, chop you up, and eat you in a pure act of love to keep you with me forever, but yeah, it'd be pretty nice.
>>
Is it gay for a man to eat another man?
>>

I don’t know, but fucking a woman is the gayest thing there is, because it's basically a way guys signal to other guys, "look, I don't care about you", while secretly craving their attention and dick.

Guess that depends on what you count as horror. It's also not a question I've ever pondered much either way. The things that come to mind, not counting suspense and thrillers (i.e. Psycho, Les Diaboliques) or internalised terror (Eraserhead, Kurutta Ichipeigi), spontanously:
Murnau's Nosferatu (1922) has always been a bit of a goto early horror film for me.
Hausu (1977) for its wackiness.
The Innocents (1961), the one defining adaptation of Turn Of The Screw, because it embodies what I like about hauntings and psychological horror.
A bit of an edge case, by the limitations I set above, Argento's Phenomena (1985).
And I guess that leaves a spot for a guilty pleasure? Guess I'll pick Habitat (1997), pic related, for that. Made for TV, starring Laura Harris, a bit on the cheaper side, and not too heavy on the horror elements. But something I saw early (late childhood), that left an impression on me as a story.
