Thinking about it, they should've just not worn pips on Voyager. Being such a small crew, everyone would've come to recognize the overall skill levels of each other and a loose command structure would just naturally form. All the pips do is stroke egos and "other" the Maquis.Really they shouldn't have even bothered with uniforms after a certain point and they all should've embraced maximum /comfy/, but I understand for promotional purposes and to let channel surfers immediately know "this is Star Trek" the uniforms had to stay.

Never realized that Mark Twain on Star Trek was Deep Throat on The X-Files
>>220850672That's one thing I liked about Janeway that Q spelled out. Has authority but still has a feminine side. In this scene she is arguing with Q but still can't resist snuggling with an adorable puppy
>>220852108snuggling with a puppy is masculine as well.
>>220852131Depends on the breed. A chihuahua is a little gay
>>220852108AI works like that too. If you’re ever arguing with a chatbot just give it a puppy and it forgives you.
Believe it or not, creating order and coziness is masculine.Look at the Roman Empire. Attention to detail and aesthetics. Order.
>>220852211It's also feminine. It's both, whatever. Me and my wife are co-creators. We both create order.
>>220852211>>220852231Men provide the lines, women provide the coloringYin and yang, a synchronic harmonic resonance between the sexes. It’s almost like they were designed to complement each other and not compete .. no way that’s too far out there man o_O
>>220852055mmmmyes HA! WOO! HA!
>>220852406Personally I think this is all too rigid of a concept. There are probably more famous male artists than female artists. They seem to .. be 'coloring' quite a heckin' bit. Personally, I like to draw lines AND color them. And I like to co-create with my wife. I'm the God. She's the Goddess. Is what it is.

Such a kino eppy. Dragged down a bit by more technobabble than I had remembered, but still great. I'm not one of those "missed potential of voyager" types, but I can't help but wish that it had leaned more into weird TOS-ish stuff like this and less into blowing up Borg cubes.
Is there such a thing as a redshirt (/TOS goldshirt) being a NCO? Or are NCOs always going to be either a goldshirt or blueshirt?

>>220848984started watching tng and im noticing a lot of big name actors randomly showing up, kind of reminds me of columbo in that regard. is it just a season 1 thing or does it keep happening for the rest of the seasons?

It was a violent thoughts at the sound of neelix's voice hazard
>>220853151Anon, they didn't hack anything. They made a copy of janeways mind that was horrifically alright with dying and sacrificed it to the fear monster
>>220853710Same shit
>>220853388Seeing random actors you recognize from other stuff and the occasional big name is part of the fun of the entire Trek, my child.
>>220853710I guess anon is saying that solving with technical jargon is spiritually the same thing, whereas Kirk would've defeated the Clown in a way closer to what Neelix suggested.

>>220862858they do and have always been around. they focus on the parts they can align with for the most part, then there's the schizos noticing patterns and reinterpreting the source material.TOS was about the Federation being an idealized Western democratic hegemony fighting against soviet Klingons and chinese Romulans with Captain Kirk being alpha-male coded, believing in american-style liberty and projecting military strength.Golden age conservatives focused on the military professionalism of Starfleet and Deep Space Nine was especially liked in church conservative circles for obvious reasons.Modern era is generally rejected as woke, chuds often argue that classic trek was about a colorblind, merit-based vision of the future where modern trek discusses identity politics and emotionalism with far less military professionalism.

my favorite dukat scene is the one where he admits to nerys that his wife left him for a better man, then proceeds to tell her about his vengeful power fantasiesIronically, if he had the guy transferred to Breen as ambassador like he planned to do, he accidentaly sent the guy and his ex-wife to the safest place to be when Cardassia falls as a result of his betrayalThe more you think about it the better this scene gets

>>220867633I'm trying but it just feels kinda lame. When they do those end-of-episode-captain-disciplines-character moments it just feels like a cheap imitation of Picard speeches.I think Janeway's hair in the early seasons has some psychological effect that makes me despise her.
