It's not that being a science officer is bad, it's that it's not Picard's life. Life is a Tapestry flowing from one major event to another and by changing his life events he's stuck in a life that he doesn't want.

>>
>>220891493
That episode was so poorly executed. The idea was that you shouldn't regret and dwell on past mistakes because they're part of what makes you you today, but it came off as 'you should never back down even it means getting stabbed in the heart'. A single careful decision flipped Picard's personality so he became afraid to ever take any risks.

Realistically it would work the other way, ie. getting stabbed in the heart and nearly dying would make you more afraid to take risks in the future.
>>
>>
>>220891998
I still think being stabbed as the result of reckless behavior would result in you being less reckless afterwards, opposed to being careful and losing your friends for it

I never finished Enterprise, I kinda watched it when it aired but as second screen content while I was playing either Civilization 2 or 3, but I hated that temporal cold war shit and the Xindi crap, I just wanted fucking pre-Federation type stuff. I don't think I ever made it to the Shran episodes, but this picture alone makes me want to give it another go. That's the kinda shit I wanted from Enterprise, guess I shoulda stuck it out instead of being a little bitch.

The Christmas tree means nothing in the 24th century.
>So you’re telling me that during the winter time, people of Earth would buy a giant tree for their living room, decorate it, and then discard it after a month, to celebrate a messiah figure who was born in the Spring?

People would probably celebrate Christmas in Star Trek. Family togetherness, good tidings, etc. Gift giving would have to be different since kids can get whatever toy they want from replicators.

It's already celebrated as a secular holiday by non religious people, and it's already appropriated from at least one pagan religion by the Christians, so the religious aspect doesn't matter.

It's funny how with every True Trek you get a taste of every kind of finale possible.
>TOS
Sudden cancelation with no proper finale.
>TNG
Nearly flawless as far as finales go. Still arguably the greatest series finale in television history.
>DS9
Major flaws but gives enough sense of closure that it's pretty much your typical finale.
>VOY
Has some highlights but overall an unsatisfying finale.
>ENT
An insult to the audience. Still arguably the worst finale in television history.

Star Trek truly gives you the most complete TV experience possible.

On one hand, the smart thing to do would've been to better weave the wormhole story arc with the Dominion story arc so you could have everything converge in one big climax.

On the other hand I'm glad the Damar vs. Weyoun kino is mostly untainted by anyvProphetslop. These 2 minor characters introduced halfway through the series end up carrying the Final Chapter.

The finale should've at least been a proper two parter, it feels like they skipped a whole episode's worth of action AND wrap up
But that's Voyager in a nutshell, they hand you a Star Trek sandwich but it's just two pieces of bread with nothing between them

On the opposite end ds9 dragged out everything far too long. The entire 7th season was a slog I just wanted to end. Behr fell too hard into copying les miserables, pozzing Ferengi and destroying Sisko, Dukat and Bashir's characters. Not to mention that terrible Kira/Odo hookup. TNG is the only Trek series with a strong ending though TOS eventually got its own with STVI.

I really didn't mind the last season of DS9, there are still quite a few good episodes in there, but the latter half did feel a little rushed, Ezri didn't have enough time to breathe (not that Jadzia was a high bar to clear), Bashir got done dirty but managed okay because he's Bashir, and I'm not gonna say anything about Dukat that people haven't said already
We did get Garak, Damar, Nog and Vic goodness, but I wish we got more O'Brien and Odo wasn't stuck with his romance stuff, so aside from the Dukat vs Sisko parts I thought DS9 wrapped up pretty well, considering

The TNG finale is just perfection so I got nothing to add there

Pic unrelated. Belanna had some good episodes that helped explain her character, the death barge on one hand and camping trip on the other. I liked Neelix’ brush with death episode and the chaotica ones, in addition to the usual ones people like.

As for the ending, I think they should have got back to earth/alpha quadrant with 5-6 episodes to go but found it occupied by the borg or something, similar to when ds9 is taken over for a while and the ending of the odyssey or LOTR where’s still work left to do once the protags make it home.

Yes, though first she'd have to give him a good beatdown, bloody him up a bit, build that tension.
Gul Dukat should have gotten a heroic redemption sacrifice death saving Cardassia, obviously.

Why is there such a change in dialogue style from Voyager to Enterprise? I understand its a prequel but a lot of it feels dumb and snarky.
>>
>>220901267
How long do you think it would take Isekai'd Dukat to fuck it all up?
>>
>>220901369
By that point Dukat would fuck it up trying to take revenge on the regular universe when he could've just enjoyed an unlimited supply of evil Bajoran pussy
An earlier Dukat could've whipped the Alliance into shape, then he'd elevate the Terrans in the hope of making them as effective as they are in the regular universe but loyal to him (this would fuck him over later, but it'd be later)

"did Dukat actually do anything wrong?"
A fair question but rooted in sheer naivety. I must remind you of the end of season 7, specifically episodes 19 and 20. If you do not remember, Dukat fucked Kai Wynns brains out. So when we speak of right and wrong, just remember in this moment, he was most definitely wrong. Do not unspoiler this image unless youre prepared to accept this one absolute truth
>>
>>
>>220901502
It's more a question of whether Dukat's weakness for Bajoran women is a character flaw or they're actually just that good
Considering Dukat usually can't do anything wrong and even someone like Odo couldn't resist Kira, maybe he was actually on to something
Leave to a species who worship wormhole aliens to have unbelievable, mindboggling grippy
