Obsession is for 'people' who never experienced an above average horror movie in their lives (drooling in front of a screen and "consuming" doesn't count).Backrooms is for ADHD kids who consider being in a more or less normal room alone without a smartphone the ultimate form of torture.
>>220932125Both are slop.
>>220932125>>220932147Both Cody Leach and moistcritical said Obsession is the best horror movie of the last 15 years at least. And Charlie also said Backrooms is a banger and he hated the games. What experts do you have on your side?
OK, I just finished "Dracula Has Risen from the Grave" (1968), and its ending explains why Dracula is stumbling around with a golden cross stuck in his chest and nobody else about at the beginning of the next film "Taste the Blood of Dracula" (1969). Dracula is also under water and under ice (in the middle of summer, all trees green) as he was left in the previous film "Dracula Prince of Darkness" (1966). Not in a moat, but ... eh. I feel Risen from the Grave is definitely a weaker entry in the Hammer Dracula series. It's mainly about Paul's and Maria's romance and the merry student live in jolly old Keinenberg with some Dracula scenes attached. IMDb says "This was Hammer Films' most profitable movie." - I wouldn't have guessed so in a thousand years. It's not bad, but it's not so great either. The two girls are lookers. IMDb says Maria (Veronica Carlson) got the role not because she could act but because she was a bikini model and the producer saw her in some commercial and wanted her. This was of course decades before Harvey Weinstein and #MeToo.
>>220932427what's your ranking thus far?
>>220932125both better than "Smile" and "A Quiet Place" and "The Conjuring" that zoom zooms fucking loved.
>>220932427>she was a bikini model and the producer saw her in some commercial and wanted herBased and as it should be.
>>220932483I won't be watching the last three "Scars of Dracula", "Dracula AD 1972" and "The Satanic Rites of Dracula" now as I've seen them 6 months or so ago. From those I liked "Dracula AD 1972" best which I know is probably a controversial opinion, but I found the peek into early 1970s youth/hippie culture weirdly interesting. "Dig the music, kids!"From the ones I've seen in the past days I like "Taste the Blood of Dracula" best and "The Brides of Dracula" worst - the rest are in between. If you watch them chronologically you can follow how they start out with the Dracula novel, tailored down to their limited budget, then get better and more confident as the series goes on, and then I suspect something changes at Hammer as you see different names for producers, directors, make-up, director of photography etc. in the titles. The movies are a comfy watch. First Dracula films shot in colour, which in the 1950s made up 10% of the total production costs alone. The interest of the studio lay more in commercial success than in artistic vision, but that's OK. You've got to admire them for what they turned out on a shoestring budget in the early years.
Here's that one Exhuma prequel comic I mentioned the other day, in englishhttps://rokaricomics.com/manga/blind-devotion/It’s not really captivating or well-illustrated, but I thought I’d share it anyway
>>220932691AD 1972 was definitely better than Satanic Rites. There's also Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires, but it's mostly a KungFu movie rather than traditional Hammer Dracula. Cushing is back, but no Lee. I prefer the early ones, Horror, Brides and Prince over the later ones, but they are all entertaining in their own way.
>>220932691>Dracula AD 1972Peak camp.

>>220932034I wish we got more creature feature/creature horror films. idk how normalfags would rather watch another step for step horror film about demon possession or ghost hauntings. Like i'd much rather deal with that than a man sized spider trying to wrap me up & liquify my insides.

>>220934550Genuinely great chart with lots of variety.
>>220935227Genuinely the only movie I've seen in the last 6-7 years that made me sick to the stomach (in a good way). I'm completely immunized to gore through 4chan's cross-cultural osmosis (seeing random real life gore pics and webms). None of the cringy "goriest movies you will ever see" worked either. But something about Mad God just works, through the combination of the atmosphere, the direction and the soundtrack. Also saw the... what was it called... August Underground trilogy in this timeframe. That just made me cringe at how hard the fatty tried to impress his fellow horror fanerinos and how his movies were just an excuse to grope hooker tits. And then there's this one movie whose name I forgot with really shitty 3DCG, that self identified as "shit horror" or something like that. It was an anthology where in the first part some kid kills his parents then gets fucked by a dog. That was the closest to making me feel sick, but it wasn't because of the imagery but because of the weird voice acting from the dog I think. In terms of writing it was about on the level of Toothless Tarl's "splatterpunk" stories.

I wasn't a fan of Backrooms. Props to the set design and I enjoyed the found footage style stuff but everything else failed to hit for me.I went in blind but I hear it's more enjoyable if your familiar with the lore. Once it's on streaming I'll give it another shot with lore context.

What the fuck?It goes against everything what everyone says>oh no they are just scared little babies who avoid humans at all costs!Basically, I understand it as the spider trying to challenge me, like it's trying to asset dominance over me. There used to be a spider that hung out on the ceiling right above my bed. It was too high up to swat away (old southern house) and it would always wait until I stopped focusing on it and then swoop straight down on one web strand, flare its legs and fangs at me, and then shoot back up to the ceiling after I screamed. That's all it liked to do, it didn't even have a web. I think eventually it got eaten by a gecko

>‘Hollow’ – Sydney Sweeney Starring in Bold New ‘The Legend of Sleepy Hollow’ Movie Adaptation>“The novel is a bold reimagining of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, told through the perspective of Katrina Van Tassel. Reframing one of literature’s most iconic heroines, the novel positions Van Tassel not as a romantic prize, but as the central figure in a dangerous mystery and seductive supernatural love triangle.

Handling The UndeadMore of a drama than a horror I’d say, but certainly horror elements. The proximity and vulnerability regarding the undead creates unease, but the slow boil really never comes to a roil. Personally I would’ve enjoyed seeing some of the greater implications facing Oslo, but keeping it to 3 families helps keeps a narrow focus and the viewer invested in the familial drama. 6.5/10, certainly worth a watch.

Did anyone here see Passenger? It came out a couple weeks ago and went pretty quickly. However, I thought it was pretty decent. It did a good job of building tension, even though it relied a little too much on jump scares, it was just scary enough. I was engaged throughout the movie, even when it was revealed what the villain was. Plus it was the exact right length, which is HUGE in a horror movie. It has it's problems, which are typical to average horror movies, mostly simple logic based stuff. I honestly had as fun of a time or better, with that than Backrooms and certainly with Obsession.
