This is still the best prequel.
>>220999261>this turd has some corn in itOkay
>>220999261I agree, the only one I like
>>220999261It feels the most passionate because it's the only one where Lucas was expecting people to like it. The last two prequels have this sense of "let's get this over with".
It’s turns to shit like five minutes in when Jar Jar arrives. He really is THAT annoying, but it’s the best looking prequel. It has the most practical effects and it doesn’t completely break the lore because it takes place so far before anything important happens.
>>220999261for me it's Attack of the Clones
>>220999261I too enjoy being a contrarian faggot
>>220999535literally the worst one
the kid makes it worse than the othersbut they were all shitsincerely, midichlorians
>>220999535>>220999585alright fags let's get this over withV > VI > IV > I > III > IIand no, no sequel shit
>>220999694VI > II > III > V > IV > I
>>220999725i appreciate you're another RotJ chad, but the rest of you're ranking is abysmal.
>>220999694Swap the original and Jedi and I agree. Jedi is the weakest OT film.
>>220999782i respect your opinion. I grew up on an old VHS recording of RotJ; the first Star Wars I saw; I always knew Vader was Luke's father. It holdsa special place in my heart. Thanks for reading my blog post
>>220999884It was my favorite as a kid 100%As an adult I recognize Empire is the better made film, but ROTJ has the best ending. All of the originals are excellent.
Attack of the Clones is betterTied for best Star Wars movie with A New Hope
>>220999945>playstation 2 backgrounds mean the movie is good
>>220999966Yes.
>>220999261Yes and yet one who wants to rewatch still has to sit through the interminable pod race
>>220999694>>220999261>>220999725>>2209997805 > 3 > 4 = 1 > 6 > 2I haven't seen the sequels
>>221000164You’re not missing anything. 7 is fine for what it is, a soft reboot, but it’s literally all downhill from there. There’s no point in watching it when the next two suck so bad.
>>220999694V>IV>I>III>VI> *powercliff*>>>>>>>>>>>IIVI is not a bad movie. I like it. But I think sith and menace are better. People cry about Jar Jar but he is both not that bad and not in the movie very much either. VI has so much flop to it that mostly comes from missed potential. Boba Fett "dying" like a punk to a blind Han Solo, killing all hype for the character for absolutely no gain. I get thats the joke of the character, he and his dad both seem imposing and tough but both die like any other goon but it's a lame joke. And for as bad as Jar Jar is the Ewoks are 1000% worse and far more egregious.
attack of the clones Chad here, i just really like those coruscant streets, flying through the skyline, following jango, the fight on Kamino
Too fucking badass
>>221000187Ewoks are absolutely not worse then Jar Jar lmao
>>220999261>pod racing>liam neeson>darth maulHow did people dislike this one?
Phantom Menace was the first Star Wars movie I fell asleep watching because it sucked so fucking bad, Episode 2 was the second one. In retrospect, 2 was worse imo
>>221000341Ok so you're more into like the Mando and grogu movie ok that's interesting.
>>221000403The prequels were universally considered bad for 20 years. No amount of ironic TikTok zoomer revisionism will change that. You people tried to bring back nu-metal too. Sit this one out lmao
>>221000277Look I love AotC, but I'm not going to pretend teen Anakin is "badass"
>>221000439AotC doesnt even pretend hes badass, Dooku clowns on him
>>221000435How dare you, nu metal is not something people my age can just forget
>>221000517Yeah man. Down With The Sickness is an all-time classic. Remember when his mom walks in and beats his ass? Great song.
I wish there were some way to communicate why I like Attack of the Clones.
>>221000439I really like the line but I see your point and i bet he's not meant to be either in aotc
>>221000283I know. They are worse, which is what I said.Jar Jar crimes:>Annoying voice>Trips through an entire battleEwok crimes:>Annoying voices>Use sticks and rocks to destroy ultra futuristic tech designed to withstand lasers>Used in place of far more believable Wookies or anything more creative than wookies but small>Genuinely creepy looking>Add nothing to film, not even thematically, just exist to sell merchI could go on really
>>221000551Give it a try
>>220999261Phantom Edit was alright but it still has too much Jar Jar.
>>221000553I will say, I think there's something likeable about Anakin in AotC. He's a complete dork, but he loves his mom, and he's got game. Also dealing with being in a cult.
>>221000613He’s got game? Dude he acts like a rapist in that movie. He confesses to committing a genocide and Padme looks genuinely afraid. Dude is unstable.
>>220999725V > III > I > IV > VI > II No sequels or spinoffs
>>220999261JAR JAR USE-A DA BOOBA
>>221000629>Anakin>I think you're unstable>And you're acting like a rapist
>>221000683I think that pic is edited to give her man shoulders
>>221000277I like how Mouse and The Woman in the Red Dress are both present in this scene
>>221000683>>221000733what the hell lmao
Phantom Menace is the only one that feels like an actual movie. Attack of the Clones is an incoherent mess, and the cgi has aged terribly. Revenge of the Sith has some cool action sequences, but its really just a check list of things that needed to be explained before A New Hope.
>>221000780none of the prequels had a satisfactory big battle except maybe episode 2 at the last 1/3rd. All the other star wars movies had climatic large scale space or land battles
>>221000780>Attack of the Clones is an incoherent messI see people say this a lot but what's not to understand?
>>221000808Phantom Menace has four. It has the space dogfight with Anakin, the ground battle with the Gungans, Padme storming the palace, and the Jedi fighting Darth Maul.
>>221000871>has fournone of those were well done like the death star attacks or hoth. you got 3 short 1 minute cut ins and that was it for those. the coolest one being the padme and jedi ones
The problem with Star Wars is they blew their load with the first movie and the Death Star trench run. Lucas had pitched a script with about 3 movies worth of material, hoping Fox would greenlight all three, and they initially told him he could do one. So we got the 1977 Star Wars, which was a remixed version of the original draft and had the climax of that original draft as its own climax. This is all fine and good, 1977 Wars is a good movie, but when it was a huge success, and Fox wanted more of that sweet Star Wars money, they went back to Lucas' draft and further remixed it. Hence you get a "Death Star II" in RotJ. It's a situation where I don't think ANY Star Wars movie following that first film will ever have a climax that lives up to that first movie.
>>221000900The parade wasn’t satisfying enough for you?
>>221000863I've seen the movie at least 20 times, and I still do not understand the plot. There are two big issues I have. I have no idea who actually put in the order for the clone army. Was it actually Sifo Dyas or was it Palpatine pretending to be Sifo Dyas. If it was Sifo Dyas, that raises more questions than it answers. And if it was Palpatine, what was his plan for revealing the clone army? Obi-Wan stumbled upon it by dumb luck. And nobody questioned it, nobody went down to the jedi temple accounting department to ask where the money came from. Then I don't understand anything Dooku does. When he captures Obi-Wan, it seems like he is fully invested in the separatists' cause, and he wants Obi-Wan to join him to betray Palpatine. But then this is immediately dropped and never mentioned again after this scene.
>>221001001fuck that parade i dont give a fuck about no parade
>>220999261Nope.
>>221001077This movie would have been watchable if Spielberg didn't shove Ehrenreich in it. The guy can't act.
>>221000979Empire is better, but I largely agree with you. A second death star was dumb.
I don't get it
>>221001050>Sifo Dyasliterally who>I don't understand anything Dooku does“Oops we killed our bad guy in Episode I”
>>221001050>I have no idea who actually put in the order for the clone army. Was it actually Sifo Dyas or was it Palpatine pretending to be Sifo Dyas.It was Dooku, formerly a Jedi, pretending to be Sifo Dyas. Dooku also deleted Kamino from the Jedi archives, at Palpatine's request, to hide their clone army from the peacekeepers who might put a stop to it. >And if it was Palpatine, what was his plan for revealing the clone army?Palpatine was playing both sides, fostering the CIS rebellion against the Republic, and he was pushing the CIS to militarize and threaten the Republic until the common people would cry out for Palpatine to have power. Which is what happens in the movie:The clones don't attack Geonosis because Obi-Wan discovered them, they attack Geonosis because Jar Jar proposed the Senate give Palpatine emergency powers to create an army. And Palpatine (essentially) goes "Oh wow, haha, looks liek we had an army ready to go! Isn't it crazy how we have a war on our hands??"Obi-Wan really had nothing to do with Palpatine's plans, he was going to create the conflict anyway. Obi-Wan just happens to discover part of what Palps was up to.> I don't understand anything Dooku does. When he captures Obi-Wan, it seems like he is fully invested in the separatists' cause, and he wants Obi-Wan to join himWell he *is* fully invested in the Seperatists cause, because he's in on Palpatine's plan to play both sides against each other. His whole role in the plan is to recruit Republic sympathizers into the CIS (including people like Obi-wan), dividing the Republic as much as possible, so that the war does as much damage as possible, so (he thinks) he and Palpatine can gain power. There's also something about Sith always looking for the next moment to kill their master and take over, so maybe Dooku had that in mind too.
The prequels are a singular work of art.
>>221001267They’re incredibly disjointed. TPM sticks out like a sore thumb.
>>221001293Shut the fuck up
>>220999261That's like being the best type of cancer.
>>221001156Empire is better than 1977 Wars on a base level. It's more "thrilling", because of the refined special effects, new music, a more conventional approach to its storytelling and cinematography, and the "epic twist"But I don't know if I respect the idea that it's the "better film"It's not the film that made people fall in love with Star Wars and demand a sequel. And it seems to me like almost all of the problems with the Star Wars franchise, and its current state, is down to people, particularly Gen X, obsessing over Empire, and trying to re-create that magic from their childhood, instead of paying attention to what actually works.
>>221001366for me the snow battle made it much cooler than just a regular battle. plus the AT-ATs
>>221001266I've asked these questions many times over the last 25 years, and this is the first time I've received an answer that makes any sense.
>>221001246Sifo Deeaz nuts
>>221001430>You gotta love those ATATs
>>220999694IV > V > VI > III > I > II (100% objective)
>>221001434The movie makes perfect sense (to me anyway), but I get the feeling people don't like to think about it because it broaches some scary/uncomfortable topics. It's scary to think that a person or group of people might organize an entire war just to terrorize and manipulate the public. Also it deals head on with Anakin's mother being brutalized and probably raped by savages, which *is* something that happens in reality, and that's a reality of life people would probably prefer to bury in their subconscious than choose to face. So, it seems to me at least, people pretend "the movie doesn't make sense" or say "it's bad", when they probably mean to say "it made me unsettled" ... which is somehow perfectly fine for other more "artsy" movies to do ...
yep got super mad at my brother at 7 years old for not thinking the movie was based. And acted like typical gen x referring to the other movies as better.
>>221002557this was after watching it and coming out of the parking lot
>>220999261Its my favourite star wars movie for so many reasons none off the others even come close
>>220999261By a large marginlast Star Wars film to be shot on film.
>>220999261Agreed. Not a prequel fan by any stretch, but Episode 1 is, if nothing else, one of the best looking movies ever made. The mix of practical and digital effects are far more even than the later ones. The set design is outstanding even in otherwise lame places like the Gungan city or just generic open fields. It's also the least one to be shot on film, and it really shows. Outside of that there's a kind of freshness to its world that later entry lack, and Quigon is probably the only character from this era that displays any real character or charisma. Oh yeah, and the podrace was cool. Good scene, good game.
>>220999535same. it baffles me that it's not universally beloved. crazy variation in settings and action, awesome conspiracy subplot, best field battle in the franchise by far, jedi fighting dinosaurs, dooku is based and redpilled.
>>221004689I guess people can't get over the "look" of it, the CGI, the digital photography, etc. etc. This is somehow despite it being far better looking than the slew of CGI laden marvel films that followed in its wake.
>>221000586What is blunt force trauma? People shit on the ewoks because it's a cheesy story line, but humility is all the empire needed at that time. It's juxtaposition threefold for an easy to comprehend meta effect: Endor battle: death star 2 battle; and Luke, Vader, and Palpatine battling and tipping the balance of it all. Lucas had a knack for complex technique done dumb.
>>221004834This is one of the most heavily criticized shots in all of modern cinema. Even when this movie premiered people were complaining about how ugly it was.
>>221004946Yes, and it's frankly emblematic of marvel movies, and desu, (with the exception of maybe TFA, TLJ, and Rogue One) Disney's own Star Wars output. They have relaxed into a lazy and ugly usage of CGI.
>>220999261Open up, anonIt's time to eat your poo poo:::extreme pooping noises:::
>>220997876>>220998107Wrapping up my review, somewhat on topic as a prequel? Finished watching the rest of Rogue One, it definitely picks up in the second half aka scariff. The rebel pilots hit me with a wave of nostalgia, probably gonna rewatch the OGT sometime. Now I'm kind of split because half the movie is terrible but the last hour sorta makes up for it.The funniest part is seeing the andor cast and their "lack of experience," the characters lost all their flair. None of the new characters like Jyn and the asian men stand out that much compared to the andor dudes. Sad to see cassian and krennic go.

>>221001266>It was Dooku, formerly a Jedi, pretending to be Sifo DyasAh, of course. Dooku. Also known as Lord Tyrannus. Also known as Sifo Dyas. I'm sure even you can see why this is retarded in the context of the movie.

>>221011910The real problem is just how the whole plot is constructed is presented to the audience. If they said straight up it was Dooku, this thread would be full of people going>Was dooku fucking retarded? He didn't cover his tracks at all! They were right to say it was Sifo, but they botched the execution on a higher level.

>>220999585>literally the worst oneDepends on the edit. Film is a lot better when dumb sequences are shortened or removed entirely.
>>220999261What was up with Jar Jar anyways? I feel like Hollywood feels that everyone loves comic relief characters but no one I've talked to IRL actually likes it when there's some annoying sidekick constantly breaking the tension.
