with FR they had fantastic reviews and publicity and audience response and practical effects and actual max character and tom hardy still on the roll
it about broke even
so what's the next step of their master plan?
increase the budged by a shitload, make it a prequel about a side character woman, no max, absolute garbage cgi shitfest, uncharismatic cast and so on, INCREASE THE BUDGET BY A SHITLOAD YEARS LATER WHEN THE GENERAL AUDIENCE KEEPS DWINDLING
what the fuck were they expecting
>>
>>221104622
Budget isn't attendance, dumbass, Fury Road pulled a bigger audience than most R-rated movies. Fury Road or John Wick aren't popular because the public liked their budget

Maybe you were dropped on your head a lot but more people watched and apparently enjoyed Fury Road than the 2010s John Wick movies, and budget means nothing to the public. >>
>>221104362
Fury Road was kino, I saw it in theatres twice.
Conversely, I still have not seen Furiosa because it didn’t look good. Attaching the name Mad Max to a film is not enough to make the film look appealing.

You're not missing anything. Furiosa is torture porn-lite, has incredibly shit pacing which makes it a boring chore to watch and looks ugly to boot. The revenge exacted to the big bad in the final pay-off was lame and gay. It's a movie that didn't have to be made and its existence diminishes the MM universe.

Fury Road in monochrome is the best movie ive ever laid my eyes upon. Furiosa sucked but Fury Road was a masterpiece.
>>
The budgets for Fury Road and Furiosa were insane The next movie itself MIGHT break even but wouldn't be a big hit so I'm not sure if any company would be willing to fund it. Unless they see it as a prestige thing like Jeff Bezos spending a trillion dollars on Rings of Power. Maybe a deal where the sale of the IP is tied to an agreement to produce Miller's final film.
Whoever buys it will 100% ruin the franchise though.

Fury Road was a massive critical hit, and is one of the best movies of the 21st century, but it did underwhelming numbers in cinemas. It only became profitable due to DVD and Blu Ray and that market doesn't exist anymore. Furiosa just flopped hard as fuck so I don't blame them for being apprehensive. I thought it bombing spelled the end for Wasteland but at least Miller is open to shopping it around so we will see it.

It's close but yeah. I think Furiosa had more obvious problems, but overall it was a better film. Fury Road

I remember being kind of pissed when the rewatched Fury Road a few years after catching it in the cinema, and realizing that the soundtrack wasn't mostly metal and DOOF-rock, but a conventional action movie score.
>>
>>221104906
>Fury Road was kino
Eh, yeah, mostly
Miller BRAGGED about having a "feminist advisor" on set, and you can clearly see the impact. The "who killed the world?" nonsense was pure cringe (Uhm, maybe the world was killed by stupid women voting for sociopathic men who promised they wouldn't ban muh aborshun?).

It could have been better. but the rot had already set in AND Miller was openly virtue signalling about it. Even though Furiosa looked like shit, I'd already decided against wasting my time with it long before the webms popped up here.

The film industry is dependent on a young audience to keep it afloat, and the audience today is sick and tired of all the boomer slop (((Hollywood))) has been pushing for decades now. They want new films that their generation can embrace as their own, they don't want the shit that belonged and identified the past generations.

This is why the youtuber films got support while they tossed the star wars film in the trash, where it belongs.

Did you miss the point of the film. The feminists in the film were just as doomed to fail along with Immortan Joe and his gang.

She was one of Warners producers and was called in because the relationship between Hardy and Theron was a boiling point. Things got easier after Theron got a woman to talk about. All male producers just shrugged it off. Even Miller admits in the brilliant making-of book Blood, Sweat & Chrome he didn't get the feud either and downplayed it.

Miller made the movie for women in a male-dominated genre and men were almost 3/4 of the audience.
>Furiosa gets a B+ CinemaScore like Mad Max: Fury Road. Males are present at 72%, the 18-34 crowd reps 55% of the audience, and Imax and PLFS rep 54% of the weekend gross. The movie is playing in the East and West, with AMC Lincoln Square so far he highest-grossing venue in the nation with $77K.

I’ve had this crazy idea about taking Mad Max in a mystical direction, sort of like Stephen King’s Dark Tower series. The idea revolves around consensus reality, and with the bulk of humanity gone, the world and the remaining people have become more mutable. In this conception, Max is a quasi-immortal personification of the World Before, a dispenser of justice and order who has become such because he’s tied to and haunted by the past that chases and haunts him. Other characters, like Immortan Joe, have embraced the chaos of the World After and are changed by it. This also explains the kids at the Oasis and their weird idiosyncratic language. They’re essentially the Lost Boys, immortal like Max because they’re also clinging to the past (Captain Walker) and the belief it will come rescue them.

Goddamn, it's just like those Gunnjeets and Superman.

Look, in the US theaters get half, overseas it varies from 25% to 35%. Plus, there is marketing, and for big movies they spend something like half or more of the budget. So the movie you posted costs 168, but let say they spent 80 in marketing, that's 248. 66 domestic, you only get 33 you now have a 215 debt. 102 wordwide, cool, that's about 35, I will make 40 just for you. Your movie still costs 175, that's no win.

This. He's honestly the highlight of the movie.

The original film was that cheap because Australia just looked like that and they could pay the actual biker gang in beer.

Furiosa actually shows the worldnof Mad Max. Fury Road is literally 80 minutes of a desert and big truck.

This man is correct, Maxi Pad: Menstrual Road was an embarrasment. At least Furiosa had a smitten of originality in it without castrating the former MC and making a feminist over-long recreation of Road Warrior except worse in every single conceivable way.

furiosa killed all the goodwill fury road had garnished

This is cope, I call it the Tarantino effect. Making a film so retarded in it's messaging that your fanboys will psy-op themselves into thinking it was based and not at all a what it actually was, a shitty film that was promoting shittty things and shitty ideals.

huge like my turds

like last of us 2 and the last jedi, furiosa retroactively ruined the franchise past and future.

That was literally Fury Road. Immortan Joe controlled a reservoir that was the only source of fresh water in the Wasteland.
