Now that the dust has settled... why did anyone ever like this shit?
>>
Cultural zeitgeist leftover from millenial era.
>>
Because it took a wacky, joke-filled tour through many sci-fi tropes. Then season 2 ended and women writers, yadda yadda, show dies.

I liked the first two seasons. But didn't like the third so much. Also it's been like a decade since I watched any so it might all be terrible and I'm just remembering it fondly
>>
I initially watched it because gazorpazorpfield made me laugh. 2nd funniest shit I've ever seen, don't ask what #1 is
>>
because when roiland was writing it it had very funny jokes

The first few seasons are legitimately good sci fi
>>
Because it started off good.

It came about in the last years where
>”Nothing matters, there is no God”
Was genuinely an “””edgy”””sentiment.
It all kinda died with Gamergate and Trump tho as the liberal monoculture shifted from being the offensive ones to the offended ones desperately trying to convince hicks in fly over country to start caring about “decency” and “morality” again.
It was the last real middle finger to bush era conservative America.

Didn't the one dude get kicked off the show and then Dam Harmon took over entirely and it became his weird magically relm show

That’s not even what the show is about so I don’t really understand why it triggers people so hard. Also atheism wasn’t edgy in 2013

I feel like the falloff happened after just a few episodes. Even in season 1 Rick starts to become the insufferable omniscient redditman he's been ever since. It's only in the first couple episodes that there's actually sense that he's an erratic and dangerous alcoholic, and his genius doesn't make up for the fact that he doesn't think things through and might blow up the earth or destroy humanity absent-mindedly. Completely different character from the Rick of later seasons who's always a dozen steps ahead of everyone and is functionally unimpaired no matter how drunk.

Okay I’ll just say it. I enjoyed the citadel of Ricks subplot with evil Morty. Also the space Snake episode.
