Is George Lucas the ultimate "what if?" in film?
After American Graffiti, all he ever did again as director was Star Wars. We never got to see what he was truly capable because he wasted all his talents on some shitty sci-fi space operas
>>
Indiana Jones?
>>
hes a genius businessman and toy maker. Everything in star wars was designed to be a toy. The sheer variety of aliens and characters is to justify more toys, same with space ships.
Its diabolical really.
He made his fortune and retired

I'd call him a one-trick-pony as I love Star Wars but I also think American Graffiti is amazing and groundbreaking so it doesn't really apply I guess

He also helped create indiana jones

He was free to make whatever movies he wanted after Star Wars. He voluntarily chose not to because he didn't like directing, he liked playing with expensive toys and coming up with other ideas that other people would implement.

Like imagine if Ridley Scott stopped directing after Blade Runner, everyone would imagine he could have made a dozen more masterful sci-fi epics, instead of the slightly above average directing and random good film for the rest of his career.

If Star Wars was a flop he probably would have just continued his work as a special effects/production tycoon and occasional producer/writer

I wonder how different Raiders would be as a movie if George had directed it instead of Steven?
>>
Star Wars is dead the Last Jedi killed that franchise move on

He pushed the absolute limits of movie technology with each star wars movie. He made a bunch of movies which have been discussed by people daily for 50 years. His influence on cinema is beyond your comprehension.
