>set in an alternative universe where humans are interstellar space travelers living on a 12 habitable planet Star system
>Have faster than light speed tech
>.........
>No cure for cancer
>Set pieces look like a late 90s sitcom, and no an interstellar imperial spaceship
>Cities look like modern earth, not futuristic
I really enjoyed the series but it's dated af. Definitely didn't age well when you compare it to other Sci-Fi from the same era.

I just assumed anything medical related on that show was due to how limited their resources were

ftl space travel tech and medical tech are very different things
>>
>>221415639
It's set long, long, ago in our section of the galaxy. If you skipped the last episode, that's actually understandable because it was kind of shit.

>no an interstellar imperial spaceship
what does an interstellar imperial spaceship look like?
>>
Rewatched it recently and its still based as fuck. Teh lowtech shit makes it compelling. LAst season isa drag, and Gaius characetr assass ination was severe but all the godliek shit make up for it, New Caprica occupation, Cally suicide, Final Four, just really memorable shit.

Needless to say its LIGHT YEARS away from Legend of the Galactic Heroes, thats literally russian lietrature, quality wise.

Star Wars has no cure for baldness; Star Trek life expectancy is just 120 years; James Cameron's Avatar has anti-matter travel but can't with some bligger cats.
None of this universes have cameras controlling their enemies nor their more important stuff.

American scifi is fucking retarded.

I was memed by you faggots to watch this. Bought the DVD set and everything (used). Couldn't get past 20 minutes of the first ep. Was a supreme act of will to not stop it when [*crack neck*] on the baby in the stroller, it was so goddam cringe. I stfg, you Millennials were a mistake; every last fucking one of you.

The "president" was given a terminal diagnosis back in Caprica. References to other characters losing people to cancer pre-war.
Injuries are treated with modern realistic medicine, not what you would expect from an interstellar light speed civilization.

Probably looks more like something out of Star Trek or Star wars, and not a sea ship from the 1700s.

>and not a sea ship from the 1700s.
He decorated his quarters to look like that you fucking pajeet imbecile.

Kk, but they can create robots smart enough to rebuild themselves and evolve into biological beings with consciousness. They can travel faster than light and use nukes regularly, but no cancer cure?

>>221416265
Are you? They were obviously going for a navy ship look, cuz a lot of sci-fi's take inspiration from naval travel. I.e. XO, Captain of the ship etc. So they model the interior of the Galactica to look like an old ship from the age of Discovery, and the Pegasus, which is in your ship, looks like an actual ship an interstellar civilization would use.
>>
>>221416617
I'm not Indian. Quits projecting you fucking beaner.
The whole ship is somewhat modeled like that because sci-fi's from that era took a lot of inspiration from naval warfare. The Galactica supposed to represent an older ship, hence why it's modeled like a ship from the age of Discovery. But it was a stupid retarded decision when you consider that this is an interstellar military spaceship that travels faster than light.
>>
>>221416760
NTA, but the interior of the Galactica looks more like a modern ship or submarine than something from the age of discovery
