>>221716704>For the first time ever I saw the Scotch in their natural habitat, and it weren't pretty. I'd seen them huddling in stations before being loud but… this time I was surrounded. Everywhere I went it felt like they were watching me; fish-white flesh puckered by the Highland breeze; tight eyes peering out for fresh meat; screechy, booze-soaked voices hollering out for a taxi to take 'em halfway up the road to the next all-night watering hole. A shatter of glass; a round of applause; a sixteen-year-old mother of three vomiting in an open sewer, bairns looking on, chewing on potato cakes. I ain’t never going back… not never.
>>221716777>they're in my eggs!
>>221716832One of the best shows ever made.
>>221716878I got cancelled partly because they shot it with authentic 80s equipment which made it really expensive.
>>221716900Makes sense, it was released too late. But still nailed every part of 80's cheese horror.
>>221717043Airwolf? It was an American show, but maybe you just got it dubbed in German. We dub everything. Everything except for Monty Python's Flying Circus and Fawlty Towers.
>>221717122Yeah might have been Airwolf. Would be strange if we got the German dub with Swedish subs though lmao.

Still slogging my way through Tales From the Crypt. We’ve reached the point where the writers seem to have run out of good ideas even for the cryptkeeper bumpers

Just finished watching I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025). It was so bad that I have to rant for a minute. First of all, it wasn't even their fault that the guy died. He literally swerved off the road by himself. Why not just go to the police and say you saw a car accident? There was nothing at all connecting them to that accident. The dialog is nothing but constant throwbacks to the previous films. Hey guys, remember that time Jennifer Love Hugetits said "What are you waiting for?". It's fun once or twice, but it's non-stop. We get it. Also, what the hell was the deal with the cover-up between the police and church? Like when they lock the two women in the interrogation room. This point goes absolutely nowhere. And finally, making Ray the killer was also stupid as fuck. Muh male trauma amirite sisters. It's better than a zombie though, I guess. Overall, dogshit film. However, I did like one line, when the new cast is saying fuck this let's get on a boat and hide on an island and Ray says something along the lines of "For reasons I won't get into, I would not do that".
>>221720187What a megaqt.
>>221720187>Mario 64-ass soundtrackJapanese movies in particularly I've noticed are like this. They sound like Final Fantasy games, it's charming imo.
>>221720289Oh, and the last line of the film, when she says "Oh by the way, Stevie is still alive." Why?!?!?!?! So fucking lazy. We fucking saw her get blasted by Ray. Did they really think they would get a sequel?

...I don't get it. Why is the witch so blodthirsty? Why are her servants all fucked up? Why everything? Why was he weakened when he opened that vent? Why not kill him? Did Tenebrarum want to initiate him into her covent? Why? Dude strumble on everything, and when facing the villains, goes "I don't know you". He's like a child not understanding anything that happens around him, we see people dying left and right, and he goes "oh, my sister disappeared, that's weird".I'm so, SO confused. And damn, this is so insanely violent, I felt sick watching some of the murders. Still not as bad as Suspiria, the first murder in this one immediately announces you what you're in for.I'll probably skip Mother Of Tears, I heard this one is really hardcore, with cannibalism, sodomy, and punks. So, I finished "Kastanjemanden" / "The Chestnut Man". It wasn't horror (even though Google had recommended it to me as such), but a psychological thriller. With some blood and the murders were pretty scary. I liked it, it was pretty good, I can recommend it. Be aware though that it's Danish with subtitles.I will now continue with a Swedish miniseries - "Glaskupan" / "The Glass Dome".
>>221740059Not really horror but if you are into mystery/sci-fi i recommend pic. It's a Finnish/Swedish production. At least you won't have to listen to the abominable grunts of the Danes but instead the angelic hymns of Swedish and the beautiful sounds of perkele.

>>221740713You will be fluent soon enough. If you are the German anon, do you see the similarities between our languages (Swedish)?
>>221740861Yes, there are many similarities. Understanding spoken Danish or Swedish is almost impossible without having learned the basics, reading is better. I watched "Häxan" (1922) for Valborga night and was surprised how much I understood. At least of the parts that played in the middle ages. The last part is set in modern times and the title cards were more difficult to understand.
>>221740989Yeah Swedish changed a lot the past 100-150 years, old Swedish or medieval Swedish was probably more in tune with the German language at the time. Are you one of the northern Germans or one of those yodeling bastards from Bavaria?Northern German might explain your interest in the North Germanic languages.

Any horror movies in which the main character is blind? I've come up with an idea for a horror movie with a character like that and i'm wondering if it's doable
>>221741489I guess. I don't see the point of it but to each his own. The time wasted on that could be spent watching dumb monster movies instead.
>>221741340I am West German and I can understand Dutch. I was interested in foreign languages when I studied at the university, but those were sort of side projects. You could sign yourself up for basic language courses in the afternoon after your regular lectures. Some very popular courses like Italian were impossible to get into. Others like Polish or Arabic always had free seats. Swedish, Danish or Norwegian weren't offered unfortunately. It was a technical university and languages were a leisure time programme, like sports. They offered languages for which they could find tutors. It's a pity. I think that had I learned basic grammar and vocabulary in any of the Skandinavian languages, I might have got far and learned the rest by reading books or watching TV shows on my own. So I've only got a glimpse of those languages by doing what I do now, watching Netflix series with subtitles.Danish is hard to understand, they seem to swallow half of their words. Norwegian looks like Danish with slight differences in spelling and with a "Swedish" pronounciation. And Swedish is its own thing, but with many similar words. I have observed for example that the definite article is appended to the noun as -en or -et, and -s at the end of a verb seems to form a passive in all three languages.

I can understand some when it's written.Believe me no one understands the Danes, not even other Danes. Ironic thing is that both Danish and Swedish have the same roots of east norse, compared to Norwegian and Icelandic who are west norse.>It's a pity. I think that had I learned basic grammar and vocabulary in any of the Skandinavian languagesOh yes, Germans learn these languages pretty easy i think, they are by far the best speakers of Swedish at least when it comes to people that learn it as adults. Still have that German accent but it's fine, certain charm to it.Out of curiosity do you understand any of this, or does it sound like ancient thai to you? It's various dialects of Westrobothnian, the most northern of all the Germanic languages, spoken in Northern Sweden and parts of Finland. Tack!
>>221742393Fair, even a lot of Swedes don't understand it.I think the Norwegian thing has more to do with getting away from both the Danish and Swedish influence on the Norwegian language. Sweden and Denmark fought many wars over the control of Norway and a result of that changed their language over time. Why it sounds more like Swedish but looks more like Danish. All Nordic countries have a lot of dialects, many crossover ones too like Elfdalian/Älvdalska (bordering Norway).Westrobotnian is also a mix of east and west norse.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDZffUVUl_gVery old, they still used the runic alphabet in the 19th century.Gern geschehen!

>>221742777Everything has to have that shot of a girl smeared in blood now
>The Asylum shoots most of their movies in less than 7 dayssurprising but also not
>>221742968I read in an interview they spend at most 6 months to finalise a film (pre, post and filming). Also that they have always made a profit on all their movies. Why they continue to shit out z-grade trash movies. It is a money maker for sure.
>>221742968>small crew>small cast>limited number of locations>minimum amount of takesIt easy to get done instead of the bloated Hollywood way, where I assume most of the time is camera setup to make sure the green screen is perfect.
>>221742760German also used to have many dialects that weren't mutually understandable at all. It started to change when bookprinting was invented. Suddenly books could be printed in numbers that would have to be sold on a larger maket then just the neighbouring towns. The Gutenberg Bible was sold with loose sheets of vocabulary for the different regions like the north and the west. Later came Napoleon, conquered much of the land and called it all "Allemagne". Suddenly people started to believe that what were 39 different kingdoms, dioceses, counties and city states could be culturally united. Dictionaries were written based on the dialect present in Middle Germany, a grammar was constructed based on the tempora and cases of Ancient Greek and Latin. When Napoleon left, he left the northern half of the German countries to Prussia and they had compulsory school service. The new Modern High German was introduced there as the language of teaching and in the north and the west it had to be learned as a foreign language. That's why pronounciation of German is the most clean and understandable in the north and west. The southern and eastern parts didn't bother learning the new language, it was close enough to their own dialects, so they mostly kept their dialects and just learned the spelling. That's why Bavarians, Suabians and Saxonians may be hard to understand, especially for foreigners.
>>221743083Pretty much the same story for all of Europe. The Nordics were also made up by a bunch of smaller petty kingdoms, tribes etc that later unified and got a more centralised language, slowly killing off the uniqueness of many of the dialects (sadly).I only know Bavarians by their yodeling and the Jodlerköning himself Franz Lang. Huge loss for the world when he passed. May he yodle for eternity in Valhall.
Is there a horror movie in which animated rotor blades from a helicopter steal a cow from a barn and just fly with it over the fields or did i dream it up?
>>221741763Alone (2020) directed by Vladislav Khesin. Low budgie jank. It also features Bailey Coppola (yes, from the Coppola family you're thinking of. Nicolas Cage is his uncle)
>>221736435That one is pure kino. Funny but it's really obvious it's filmed in the same place as One Cut of the Dead.
>>221743270There's a funny sketch from Radio Bremen (north Germany) from the 1970s, "Jodelschule". It's about a night school for grown ups where they learn yodeling as if it's Latin, complete with blackboard, vocabulary and grammar, so typically German and serious that it's utterly absurd. At the end of the class a homemaker wife is interviewed by a TV team and she tells them how she's getting her "yodel diploma" and then "she's got something" should hard times come.Very dry humor, but also a very German way to make fun of a German thing.
>>221741763See No EvilThe joan crawford segment from Night Gallery
>>221738174>>221741401Now the real question is, who will they get to play Freddy
>>221743536Sounds fun lol. I doubt i'll find a subbed version of that. Unless the Swedish state run tv channel archive has it for some weird reason. Yodeling is serious business though. Simultaneously one of the most beautiful and hilarious things that exist.
>>221716704Op pic reminds me of this
>>221743423Sounds kinda like the golem servant thing from November.
>>221743964so it wasn't a dream after all lmao. Not rotor blades but similar shape

Just watched Late Night with the Devil. Thoughts? Reading?
>>221745058Missed opportunity. Could have been horror kino of the year but it was too goofy. Whenever it had the choice between scary and comedy horror it picked the latter.
>Candyman's not okay>Chucky's sort of okay>Alien's okay>Predator's okay>Jason's okay>Michael's okay>Pinhead's okay>Ghostface's okay>Carrie's okay>Pennywise's okay>Leatherface's okay>Finally, Freddy's okay
>>221746316Dourif was just talking about a new Chucky film in the news. He'll probably be 80 by the time it comes out (god willing), maybe they'll try to set up the end of Chucky in the film.
Also>A crime scene leads to horror in The Cycle, the latest from director Jordan Downey ( The Head Hunter, V/H/S/Beyond) starring Deborah Ann Woll >When the body of a man missing for thirty-six years is discovered at the scene of a horrific crime, it’s up to his estranged daughter to unravel his dark past.Comes out in October
>>221745258I think it wasn't goofy enough. Could have went farther with the concept, it felt too restrained outside of a couple scenes.
>>221717584Kino but I think I liked Milk & Serial more desu.
Every major franchise reboot will be woke
Favorite movies of the year? Besides the obvious trio of Obsession, Backrooms, and Hokum that everyone will recommend.
>79 days until Oct 1
>>221745058Great idea, mediocre execution. They needed to go all in on the 70s talk show look and theme, and figure out the second half of the film better
>>221747054>PrimateJust because it's the kind of high concept genre film that I want more of and the strong parts were enjoyable.>Return To Silent Hill>The Mortuary AssistantBoth videogame adaptions that are trying to appease so much lore they become surreal in an entertaining way.

omggg ok i think i figured out why i can never stay on /hor/ for more than like 15 minutes before i close the tab because its actually kinda depressing?? like i know nostalgia is fun i have stuff im nostalgic for too but holy shit guys we're literally living through one of the most exciting periods horror has had in forever and somehow every thread ends up being about the same 5 movies from the 80s again. i know freddy is cool. i know jason is cool. (a bit exaggerated) i promise you i know. but i dont think buying your 14th freddy mask to hang on your wall when you're like 50 years old is a personality trait i think thats just mindless consoomer goycattle behaviour at that point. its weird because horror is like the one genre that actually feels alive right now theres weird indie stuff getting theatrical releases, foreign horror is huge, mainstream studios are taking chances again, people actually care about directors instead of just franchises for once and yet /hor/ acts like the calendar stopped in 1988. i almost feel bad because its like everyone is trying to recreate a feeling they had when they were 16 instead of just letting themselves get excited by something new. maybe thats just what happens when you spend too much time online tho i have no idea. i think every hobby eventually reaches the point where half the people are fans of the thing and the other half are fans of remembering the thing and i cant tell which group is bigger anymore. anyway maybe im wrong maybe i should just buy another jason mask and finally understand what enlightenment feels like but i dont really care even though i like to pretend everything matters and is super important
>>221748116I start making my October watchlist in May. It's already about halfway filled, a lot are recs from these threads I haven't seen before. I always start on the first day of fall.

>>221746786It was too long, started meandering towards the end. Obsession was a little repetitive but still felt tight.
>>221748390Just downloaded, hopefully will be gud.
>>221742777I didn't realize they were still making this. I lost interest when they said they wanted it to be a coming-of-age story inspired by Dawson's Creek, Smallville, and Buffy. That was announced around 20 fucking years ago now.
