>>222125765In terms of horror, does the Scream franchise bring anything new to the table except for "being meta"?
Great news, /hor/!!!As part of its De Palma Summer program, Alamo is screening Phantom of the Paradise, Carrie, and Blow Out next month! If (You) like any of these, go get tickets before it's too late and you're forced to sit in the corner of the front/back row!https://drafthouse.com/movies/de-palma-summer
>>222125816They are, for the most part, fast paced, entertaining whodunnit slashers. They brought plenty new to the table in the 90s if you compare it to the slashers released in the 90s before it and had great deal on all the slasher films that followed even outside of the 'meta' aspects - killers became faster, more personal in their brutality, and mystery was front and centre.
>>222125821holy mackerel
>>222125765My local outdoor cinema is showing this tomorrow, and the tickets are cheap. Is the movie really that bad ? I think I'll go anyways.
95 days til Halloween
Deadstream is pretty funny
>>222125980That's dedication.
Just finished watchingThere are now SEVEN idiots who like this movie
>Mike Flanagan's next project is a Warhammer 40k series for Amazon Prime
>>222125816Yeah, very solid films but the last one was slightly above mid.
>>222126070Indeed it is.
>>222125940Are you woman?
>>222126158I am man saaaar
>bro got caught watching a horror movie on a security camera during his first night shift"paid to do nothing" dream ruined
>>222126125>the last one was slightly above midI was surprised at how good Neve Campbell and Courtney Cox looked given their age ... which I don't even know desu, but it must be above 50. Anyway, by know we know the formula and we know what to expect. A killer toys with his victims before he murders them. In the end it turns out that there were in fact 2 killers and they were close to the 1st victim and always "someone you don't expect to be a killer". I get that they want to introduce the franchise to new (young) viewers. But I having seen the 1st one admit I only saw the 7th one because I had nothing better to do that evening.
>>222126251>Neve Campbellsaddest tits in Hollywood
>>222126251> I was surprised at how good Neve Campbell and Courtney Cox looked given their ageThey looked terrible. They played really safe with this movie and it wasn’t that memorable and there was no wow factor.
>>222126300I was more disappointed with the last one, Scream 6. The one that played in NYC. (Was that New York City? It wasn't even so memorable that I know for sure.)
>>222126383The nyc one had some peak moments though.
>soulmate>even the poster looks soullesshitting digital this Saturday

>they are still making dozens of Obsession threads every day
>>222125816The scooby do whodunnit aspect, duh
>>222125816What do you bring to /hor/?
>>222126070They really got the goldilocks zone of that kind of humor.Dashcam is also funny, but got punished for landing in the chud zone.
>>222125765I don't care I liked it
any horror capeshit other than Blade and Spawn?
Favorite proto-proto-slasher?

>>222127401The Mummy's Shroud has a bunch of slasher aspects
>>222125765>watch Cure yesterday>kino>decide to watch Pulse since everyone on the internet recommends it>absolute garbageI got memed. Some of the worst acting, horrible writing and dialogues, boring as shit for the last 60 minutes, random meme scenes, goofy melodramatic music kicks in randomly at a few spots, filmschool tier blocking.I really can't wrap my mind around how one could in a few years go from making a beautifully crafted film to thisThe only highlights where the stanky leg ghost scene, and the creepy whale sound is also neat
>>222127565Looks like an 80s heavy metal album cover
>>222127619>this is now the oldest movie I have ever watched
rewatched ringu 2 for the first time in like 20 yearsit holds up

>>222126114>Mike FlanaganDROPPEDthe only good thing he ever did was cast that one big eyed girl in those hill house series
>>222130921His filmography is very feminine.
>>222127837You're either a Cure person or a Kairo person. I've read the same post with the opposite reaction.
bros im watching #MissingCouple and the man in this supposedly heterosexual couple seems so fruity and gay that it's literally not believable. this is a first for me. I tried looking up the actor but he's literally no one
It is great to be retired. I get to start watching movies in the evening instead of being stuck in rush hour traffic >>222131456Oh, this movie was okay.
>>222127837Pulse is a sentimental film, if you're a douchebag memelord you won't get it
>>222130352evil dead 2013 is a 10https://www.youtube.com/shorts/JvEIrHnrYVk
>>222125816i liked the first one, second one was okay, never saw the rest. are they worth watching?
>>222130177>tattoosdropped. even deadites are disgusting trashy whores in 2026. they made this character so all the trashy whores in the audience could YASS QUEEN her
>>222131542>sentimental film>dude commits suicide while friend is looking for the collective homeword>next scene is the three retards stading, one is looking down and other ask "s-sakura-san? is it about anhero-san?" with the worst deliveryYeah I don't see it. They were all fucking awkward but it's not regular japanese awkward
>>222131607not really. 3 sucks, 4 is better but is made almost a decade later, and the ones with mexican bitches are completely derivative. and the new one blows. so no, the first two are the only good ones. now it's just for sluts who want to goon and think about being raped by guys in ghost face masks and they make no gripes making it obvious
>>222131736you sound autistic. it does a good job exploring the relationships between these people and that's foreshadowing for the guy to go looking at his buddy's apartment later because he's affected by the suicide. your only gripe is that the line delivery is awkward in a movie you likely needed captions to understand in the first placebut everyone is entitled to an opinion
>>222131741i vaguely remember reading that the newer ones are a little more gore focused or something? maybe I'm mixing my memories up
>>222128983My man Adam Wingard knows what's up.
>>222131844yeah they try to up the ante with the jenna ortega ones to varying degrees of success, give em a shot if you want a modern version but a lot of it is just member berries nostalgia mixing the old cast with a new crewthey're good if you wanna goon to jenna ortega and the hot chick from anora
>>222131607imo yes they were way better than I expected since I'm not who dunnit fan. Scream 3 is the weakest though so you have to get over that.
>>222130177her breath smells like balls and shes mocking me with it
>>222125816Can't think of anything.>>222125867>mystery was front and centreThat goes back to Gialo and proto-slashers, and proto-proto-slashers like haunted house murder mysteries.
>>222126765she could shit on her own head
>set up sequel to Evil Dead Rise>next movie is a prequel set in the 70s So after Wrath (the prquel) are they doing a Rise/Burn team-up? Does anyone even care about the Rise/Burn leads?
>>222132681>Does anyone even care about the Rise/Burn leads?Probably not. Rise was well recieved but forgettable and Burn flopped. People seemed to like Mia from the reboot but it's been so long now.
>>222132711jane levy as mia really was great in the reboot, underrated even. the other two were run of the mill and forgettable final girls
>>222132748I agree
>>222132681I think wrath ends with the evil dead (2013) prologue
>>222133138that would be cool actually, that prologue scene was sick
>>222126671I know this is an unusual, nay outlandish suggestion for Posession fans but, you could try watching more of Żuławski's filmography; a few of them are even horror related!
>>222133281kek
>>222125816Nah, by the 3rd movie they start getting stale. Very same-y
>>222133036>>222131566I run this channel, I think my next analysis video is going to be about the 2013 reboot and how much I love it. it really is up there with TCM 2003 for me in terms of horror remakes. was faithful to the original while modernizing the franchise and spawned two great sequels nowI don't think people give it enough love and appreciation
>>222126670M3gan spinoff dumped onto streaming after M3g2n flopped
>>222126634they've done this movie literally a hundred times now, even megan fox has done this movie at this point
>>2221316073 wraps up Sidney's arc really well and has a few great scenes of suspense, but the movie has no bite and no violence. Columbine happened, so the studio retardedly forced Wes to show very little blood and to make a goofier movie in tone. 4 was a return to form. It has the most vicious kills of the franchise to this day and Ghostface's VA sounds even more twisted and menacing. It does feel like a retread, with Sidney getting chased yet again for the 4th fucking time, but the killer's motive was awesome in this one and the commentary on modern horror is fun.
>>222133281I've watched the she-demon sex shaman/mummy Szamanka that was alright. as well as 'The Most Important Thing Love' which, man if you thought Posession was pitched histrionic in places Love is that cranked to 11 for the whole runtime and will really make you question if this is actually an appealing trait. in the context of drugs crime and love of course. Tons of that handheld sweeping camera movement with some decent productions sets.itt would most recommend period piece 'The Devil', just marvelous to behold from the opening scene
>>222133450I think 4 was a highpoint as well and it was always odd to me how it was released so long after the original three and so far before the jenna ortega reboots. emma roberts was great in it too
Any horror critics/essays on YouTube worth watching? Need something to play in the background at the gym.
>>2221316074 is good I'd say 1 > 4 > 2 > 3 > 5 > 6 = 7

Hey y'all, it's Slasher Dungeon! Horror film discussion, movie clips and Survival Horror video games. 80s Slasher supremacy.Follow me on Instagram!
>>222133723Prob not everyone’s cup of tea because it can be very boomer-y at times but I like to listen to The Thing With 2 Heads, which is hosted by a guy who represents several horror actors for conventions and a guy who does special fx for movies (he sculpted the Myers masks for the recent Halloween Movies). I like the episodes where they actually interview people like Tom Holland (Fright Night director) and Nick Castle.

>>222132711>Rise was well recievedOnly because it was new and "different". Once the hype fell away it was regarded as the shit it was.
That’s it, you’re going into the Slasher Dungeon!
>>222134687I'm gonna say it, Rise is popular with normies for a reason. it's normie schlock with a tatted up goonerbait lead that they marketed endlessly into the groundthat's why all the marketing was focused on her, it's just goonerbait>>222134700now you're the one spamming retarded shit, I'm glad my channel makes you seethe so much
>>222125867>>222125816One thing I liked about the Scream movies I saw is that the killers usually are getting bodied half the time when they're trying to get a kill. Falling down the stairs, getting shit thrown at them and knocked over. It's not so much that they were shown to be human in that way it's that the people being killed were allowed to be human as they died. They weren't just retards screaming, they were fighting for their lives and you're given hope as an audience member that they might survive because that's only supposed to be reserved for the final girl. Of course, it stopped mattering when they made scream a franchise that had continuing main characters that couldn't be killed, but I think this really worked in Scream and to a lesser extent Scream 2.
>>222134687This. Rise was wokezlop.
>>222134722Just seemed like an era for shit to be blown up and completely disappear. Hence Burn more or less bombing in comparison. Romulus is going to be the same thing.
>>222134880Oh yeah, Romulus was completely forgettable and just standard nostalgia slop. It looked great but that was all it had going for it
>>222134880Romulus was slop with an ugly African character.
>>222134911which is why normies praised it. same with Rise, all the marketing was focused on the milfy lead and teasing people with mommy goonerbait so normies lapped it upall woke anti white male slop
>>222125980Based
>>222134700I just started the second day of my retirement, I don’t want you spamming this general with your channel.
>>222134880I think everyone got what Romulus was immediately. It's a greatest hits nostalgia film with a cute lead.Covenant, now there's a film that was totally forgotten.
>>222135409that's a troll, I posted my channel when someone asked for youtube recs with a bunch of other channels and he's mad about it and spamming that shitso don't think it's the owner of the channel doing that cringe shit

>>222135659it's probably the same guy who was pressed earlier, it doesn't bother me. I just feel bad for the thread being shit up with this shit, sorry guys
>>222135618Nta but you have been posting your channel multiple times in each of the previous generals. You probably don’t notice it cause some generals are multi days and you post a few times a day and then it is many times in one general.
>>222135694I know I don't post more than once in a general, but again, go take your meds and stay mad. you aren't the /tv/ sheriff, report me if you're mad and stop shitting up the thread whining about a post no one is forcing you to engage with
