Suddenly In The Dark Edition

What was the point of this? Ready or Not was fun but it didn't need a sequel, nor one released so many years later. Its just a rehash but less entertaining, goofier and unoriginal.

It's the square eyes but also the oversized decals, especially the one above the eyes, they combined to make it look like he's got a thick fucking brow. Looks more like a neanderthals hockey mask now.

Just saw an early screening of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man. It felt like he was trying to make his own Terrifier with the amount of violence (which wasn't nearly as well done as in a Terrifier movie), and a full-length film version of that ending scene from Weapons at the same time. That said, it was stupid silly fun. What ruined the movie most of all was the fucking atrocious acting from the main 3 kids. I have no idea how those little fuckers got cast.

I have an idea for a slasher. It’s about a large friend group of very busty Japanese girls (all played by Gravure or JAV idols) on vacation somewhere in Straya, there’s lots of gore, TONs of full frontal nudity, full bush all that.

>>222293686

It's lacking something. After watching all the Italian cannibal movies I realized Eli's homage is pretty bland is in comparison.
>>
>>222294045
He fucked up the same way he did with Thanksgiving, where he unnecessarily tried to put a spin on it instead of just doing it straight. People have been clamoring for me to make my homage to 80s slashers? I know, I'll make it an homage to 2000s slashers instead! Idiot.
>>
>>222293905
Yeah it'd be funny if they came to my house for some reason lolz, imagine that

>>222294000
Yes it's amusing that it causes some seethe because it portrays the tribe as having a culture, they aren't just mindless cannibals and of course the little boy helps out the girl. If anything the audience is set up to want to see the activists punished, or at least the ringleader of them. The spotlight is on performative white liberals rather than this barbaric tribe.
>>
>>222293914
I agree. People like to shit on him but I'm genuinely a fan.

He can be hit and miss, but what's keeping people on the fence about Ice Cream Man is the fact that plenty of people online are bashing it for being "mean spirited" and for bringing Eli's political viewpoints to the forefront. Hearing that it apparently uses AI for some sequences does suck, but I'm going to have to wait and see how it pans out on my own if people are already using the term "worst film of the year".

When the cremation guy was struggling to get the casket off of the platform I thought it was gonna fall over and dump his body on the ground. I liked what they did with him as a deadite, where he would burn things just by touch since he died in a fire. As a concept, sure, but I didn't like the CGI monster he became at the end.

the best ones were the sister-in-law (?) and the father.
Him pulling out a gun and shooting himself in the head point blank 3 different ways was a great gimmick. I loved it.

AI looks better than CGI and has more versatility. There has to be a human creating and refining the AI, so I don't really see the difference between that and someone using blender. If you think CGI has more human input and creativity, they just use premade background packs, lighting effect packs, and models. It's every bit as soulless.

He was never going to direct but they were planning a sequel. The script is online or at least was a few years ago.

>Halloween 3D was to be the sequel to Rob Zombie's Halloween II, written by Todd Farmer and directed by Patrick Lussier. The story would follow the idea that Laurie killed Dr. Loomis and was hallucinating when she thought it was Michael Myers. Michael would disappear only to reappear and take off with Laurie by his side as a murder pair. The two would leave to find their mother’s corpse and dig her out of the ground. A group of teenagers stumble upon them and all are killed except for one who is named Amy. A standoff ensues with Sheriff Brackett being killed by Laurie and Michael Myers being hurdled in a burning Ambulance into a dam. Michael Myers is presumed dead. Then jumping ahead in the story, Laurie is housed with Amy in the same psychiatric hospital. Michael returns for Laurie and a blood bath ensues inside the J. Burton Psychiatric Hospital. This would ultimately lead to a final standoff at a giant festival where Michael plants a bomb in his stomach from his mother’s urn and it explodes. It wounds Laurie and she tells Michael she is not like him leading to him stabbing her in a final attempt before death. She dies and then Michael dies as well while Amy watches in horror.

>The second script was written by Stef Hutchinson shortly after the first script fell through and follows the theatrical ending of Halloween II. It opens at the Nichols home in Langdon, Illinois a few days before Halloween. The son is plagued by terrifying nightmares about the boogeyman and is attacked by him in his bedroom. The mother wakes up to the screams to find her husband dead beside her and she runs into Michael, and he kills her. The story then jumps ahead to Halloween day where we see a retired Brackett laying flowers at Laurie’s grave. It has been 3 years since that dreadful night when both Loomis and Laurie died. Michael Myers’s body was never recovered. The new sheriff Hall checks on Brackett only to find his house littered with cases related to Michael Myers. Brackett’s niece Alice walks in to find the two talking. Jumping ahead in the story we find that Michael Myers crashes the homecoming game where both his niece Alice and her best friend Cassie are. They are chased back to the school where Brackett runs to after Alice tips him off as to what is going on. A showdown occurs where Brackett must choose between saving Cassie or killing Michael. He chooses to save her, and Michael disappears into the night. A confused Brackett wondering why Michael didn’t kill him goes back home only to find a severed head on the Nichols porch which is right across the street from his house. He then enters the home to see the name Alice written in blood on the wall. Alice was Michael Myers’s true obsession and only made it seem like he was after Brackett’s niece. He then tries to phone Alice’s home to no answer. The movie then pans to her slaughtered parents and Alice burning at the stake. Michael Myers watches with his head titled as she burns.

That is 100% AI. The process is he generates still images for the AI to use as a reference, that also involves fine tuning them and tweaking them, and then creates motion graphics for the AI to track when generating the video. Most CGI is pre-made assets. Even Mark Spears uses pre-made assets (popular horror comic artist that uses blender).

>That is 100% AI.
No kidding, the whole thing has that awful slow motion effect and the action makes no sense etc.
Entire CGI films far superior because they're consistent, and contain unique artistry. Example: Tintin. AI cannot recreate minute long intricately planned unbroken action shots for example.

Why I bring this up is to contrast that the real argument is about CGI SFX that fit within live action films with real actors. And your example isn't that, it has the luxury of being 100% AI and say "excuse the slop and just look at the good parts".
I'm not a luddite, I think AI is going to increasingly have it's place. For example the sunset shot at 3:38 could fit into a film fine. But it's the fitting in part that is the problem that AI still has. It's also a budgetary issue - if you put that shot into a film that otherwise is filmed in some guys garage, it's going to look inconsistent.
>>
>>222293162
Honestly, that movie had an insane amount of issues but it was one of the few ones actually *attempting* disorientation and psychological horror. I also give it props for that, but the truth remains that it just wasn't scary, unfortunately.

He's a filmmaker who wishes he was a historian, and it ends up just making him a bland filmmaker. The guy has no vision. The most I'm hoping for is that the visuals are interesting.
Curry Barker also just got extremely lucky with his success and I don't think he has anything genuinely great in him. If he were around in an earlier decade with higher standards, Obsession wouldn't even be direct-to-video quality.

Just watched picrel and it was surprisingly not bad. I was expecting something like Hostel or a worse Shutter Island, but it was much more like a Nightmare on Elm Street film set in a college dorm.
