i know its pay to win but theres elements of trek online i really enjoy. but they just went crazy with all the different talent trees (there must be 7 by now), crafting, boff, reputation systems, etc etc its a mess of a UI. If they stuck to a space/ground and MAYBE one end game specialization point system, it would be a massive improvement. I would have thought they fixed this in the last overhaul

I'm sure there's people who think he's hot as there is for everyone but Alaimo certainly doesn't fit into any classic ideal of attractiveness for those attracted by men.

If you're looking for a Star Trek experience without shackles try Second Life. There's no script or railroad tracks so you can start as a brand new intelligence officer, branch out to different timelines, and end up creating a ghost fleet for other officers who don't even remember which timeline is their prime anymore, flying around in an Excelsior class ship with a stolen Romulan cloaking device and wrecking the enemies of all that is good, then retire and build castles in the sand. Or you can stay an ensign and report for duty and press the same buttons every day while senior officers handle the serious stuff.
And it's free.
Check it out after you're done with STO.
>>
>Episode 5, "Level-Five Transporter Accident", A transporter malfunction turns most of the crew into puppets while Spock fights to reclaim the ship.
>Episode 7, "Like Chronitons Through the Hourglass", A space trickster traps the Enterprise crew in a soap opera as Pike mourns a lost life.
>Episode 9, "Once La'An a Time", La'An enters a genuine fantasy world where the fairy tale becomes a personal test of courage and control.

Frank's is straight trash. All the girls there are like autistic mexicans roleplaying as prostitutes charging like twenty real world dollars for half an hour of 'mmmm' 'yesss'. The Island of the Insatiables and some other popular beaches closed recently so all the sex pests like Riker and Jadzia are skittering around looking for new places to congregate.

Pinastri Colony is okay, and it's the first one people find, but it's kind of strayed off into its own canon and uniforms and it's all late DSN and VOY era ships. TWOK is okay, but then you're hard locked into the maroon uniforms and it never ever changes, but the people in that group are really cool.

Trek is like the secret handshake, it's some kind of hobo code if you know where to look for the signs.

The guy who runs Innsmouth is a huge trekkie and has another sim devoted just to creating TOS era spaceships for his group of buddies. One of my favorite expeditions through the mainland was through the snowy mountain region, where I found a city built like twenty years ago and abandoned before mesh avatars were even invented. I found a chess club and broke in, everything covered in a layer of dust undisturbed since Bush was in office, and lit my lantern. On the back wall was a group photo of the people who used to play there and next to that a bigger picture of Spock playing chess. I tried to back out in my boot prints to disturb the space as little as possible.

There have always been Trekkies there. When the grid goes dark someday on a platform where they could do and be anything, there will be people who spend their last second standing on the bridge of their ship surrounded by a crew who loves them.

Yeah just go to some sci-fi cons and start asking around. There's usually a couple Trek group booths. I think UFP or Pinastri Colony finally got listed in the roleplay section of the Destinations tab and they have scheduled ship meetup days. Most groups have two or three ships that play at different times so you find the one that fits your schedule, and they usually follow a larger fleet plot so when you meet other officers at the space station you're all operating in the same reality.
Usually you pick a role like science, engineering, security, medical, etc. Some people choose to be marines and just use the shuttles and weapons to go around blowing stuff up off base. Just do whatever.

I have a love/hate relationship with the TNG Arboretum. On one hand it's a brilliant example of how 80/90s TV was able to rig a 120m2 set to be used for 20 different locations but on the other hand the stage design is some of the worst ever seen on Trek. I mean it, this set lives rent free in my head.

The square-shaped "lake", the fake af "grass", the fact that characters keep referring to the Arboretum as a multi-level space but it's just a redesigned personal quarter, the inclusion of wall lights in the one place that would absolutely not want wall lights, the awful looking plastic plants and so much more. They used it well, every angle possible was used over the course of the show, but it's not a pretty or convincing set.

Simping isn't really my style, unless it's for BF. I met this one chick and she said she does hooker stuff at Frank's, and at heart I'll always be the best intelligence officer in Starfleet and I get curious about these things, so I followed her to see how she uses the holodeck to scam real people out of real money in a totally legal and tax free way. All of the women there knew her and were all playing the same game, and asked if I had a card, they all had business cards, so I showed them my Starfleet badge.

But yeah in about an hour she made about $100 and bought me some new clothes and hair and stuff. They're always really nice people, but they don't know much about Star Trek.

SNW season 4 is okay so far. I like gimmick episodes. It's about the highest quality you can reasonably expect from shitty modern writers.
>>
>>222555586
it is just shaped like an oyster. It's not an ACTUAL heckin' oyster.
>>
>>222555593
After all the garbage they produced (with an exception of Piard season 3 which was nice) I didn't touch SNW so far.
Should I try it? I really can't stand another disappointment.

Where do you stand on slang in trek? I think we are all in agreement cursing has no place in trek. Perhaps O'Brien is screaming 'fucking spoon heads' everytime kieko starts nagging but we dont need to see it. I also think slang has no place in trek. Perhaps words that have survived several generations may be ok. For example the word cool. You can imagine Wesley or even Georgie using it. Picard and Worf not so much. Maybe thats fine. But they arent saying "rad" or "far out" or "'cool cat."
>>
>>222555643
yeah it's fun, not perfect but fun

Friendly reminder the Cardassians are a rip-off of the alien Marc Alaimo played in Arena. Meaning Dukat is basically the Progenitor God of the Cardassian race.
>>
>>222555692
slang and idioms that have been around and are still in use for at least like, 50-60 years at the time the show is made are fair imo. there may be a day in the distant future that no one uses "cool" anymore and it would sound dated but I'll be dead by then so I dont care

It's hard to recommend it. Modern writers are dogshit in general, and SNW is essentially like extremely lower-mid-tier writers writing 80% midly with occasional extreme dogshit or something decent. When the show is done, people will probably create a list of the 10 decent episodes that are worth trying.

>>222555849
Yeah because watching one episode will surely tell me about the quality of the entire show.
Just shut the fuck up retard.

Is there an archive for /tv/ like desuarchive or something? Someone recommended me a star trek podcast here where two guy were watching through the entirety of star trek, but they're doing it in reverse order, so they went ENT -> VOY, etc. and they were partway through DS9, but I forgot what it was called, and youtube search is no help at all, trying to recommend me shit that's completely unrelated or official trailers for the new slop. All I need to do is search threads for the last year or two for the words "star trek podcast" and I'd be able to find it.

Then you can work your way through the many, many negative comments made by everyone involved from actors to showrunners.

janeway is quite attractive but as the show went on her voice got deeper and deeper and i felt more uncomfortable lusting after her but in her youth she was a very attractive woman
which makes me wonder why nu trek seems to cast not only bad actors but also ugly ones. i was looking at the star trek academy cast and they are all ugly. the only cute one looks like she bogged herself
>>

It is generally considered to be the worst or second worst episode in all of trek, only These Are The Voyages gets called the worst more often. The episode has been excluded from reruns more often than any other Star Trek episode and the director was fired before filming was wrapped. It is one of the most discussed and disliked episodes in all of Trek.
>>
>>222556492
I found Janeway more attractive as the series went on because of her hair and honestly probably because after Jeri Taylor left her characterization became more attractive.
>>
>>222556217
I know the channel you're talking about, it had ENT-themeing insofar as each video used a still image of the NX-01 viewed from above, and a minimalistic color outline of both guys in ENT uniforms below it. I can't remember what it was called either.

It was kinda fun, as long as you steer clear of the ERP/slash fic groups.

kek hue ayyy lol lmao roflcopter

From what I remember the society was run by men, but only women were allowed to own land. Thus a man's status in society was tied directly to his wife's wealth, and his wife was free to divorce him at any time and take 100% of her wealth with her. Which is what happens to the asshole guy at the end of episode and how the Enterprise crew resolves the conflict. Sounds pretty heckin' progressive to me.

They bring her back with Time Travel Magic, but she chooses to go back in time and join the crew of a doomed ship whose sacrifice stops the Romulans from destroying the Federation.

>refuses to go into the 1962 Las Vegas holo-program and help save Vic because the holograms wont call him a nigger and refuse him service
What was his fucking problem? Sisko is on record as having watched every World Series game in history inside the holo-suite. Are we supposed to believe he programed the segregation era games to have Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb call him a Coon or that he was forced to watch from the nose bleed seats?

And then he just instantly gets over it and joins anyway, like what was the point of him throwing a fit about all of it for the first half of the episode?
>>
>>222559249

Ty Cobb being a racist was largely an invention of a handful of Jewish reporters that didn't like him. Pretty much every nasty story about Cobb originated from these 2 or 3 writers and sportswriters had enormous power at the time when people were largely relying on newspapers for analysis and even scores.
There was a book written recently which did a lot to clear Cobb's name.
>>
>>222560157
