Aegon should have a Robb Stark chopping the tree moment when he finds out Helaena and his last possible male heir died because of Rhaenyra. So when he succeeds and kills Rhaenyra, it'll be a sort of Shakespearean Prince Hamlet or Titus Andronicus moment when he gets all that he wants by destroying his enemy and giving a possible future to his heir and his other allies, even though he himself dies in the end. It'll be more positive and uplifting than tragic, while Rhaenyra (who only wants to become Queen for selfish prophecy delusions) will be wholly tragic and pathetic as an ending, as she deserves.
