Started watching hotd S3 since I heard it was better than S2. It's crazy how this show can jump from being a 7/10 to a 3/10 depending on who's on screen. Up until this season I found both Greens and Blacks insufferable but in S3 Greens have so much more charisma than the Blacks it's ridiculous. Except Alicent (who is just an honorary Black at this point anyway) and to a lesser extent Aemond (Harrenhall is where good characters go to have shitty arcs, I guess). Daemon is the only interesting Black to watch but unfortunately he has to share the screen with a slew of entertainment thieves. Everything about the Dance is downstream from that, and there's simply no way of writing it so that Rhaenyra is both competent AND sympathetic if Harwin is their real father. This makes her untenable as a main protagonist as she has no redeeming qualities.The correct choice would have been to confirm they ARE Laenor's and they DID manage to have some fag on faghag sex at least three times that resulted in conception, but the realm doesn't believe them because they already distrust a female monarch (and a male consort). It would emphasize that Rhaenyra IS willing to sacrifice in her personal life for her duty as Queen and compassionate by setting Laenor free from a life of sexual degradation and unending hostility from the court.
