thinking about ezri in that little casino getup...fuck my chud life
Made it through season 1 of Voyager. The only character I actually like is the Doctor. Tuvok is fine, Paris is OK, Neelix is fine sometimes other times he needs to stop talking.Janeway is 50/50 I think the writers tried too hard to overcompensate for her being the first female captain by repeatedly showing she's just as talented in any given field (medical, engineering, science) as her top officers are. Where Kirk or Picard might say "are you telling me if we do such-such we can escape this gravity well?" or "is there any way we can reverse polarity on the thing-a-mabob? I don't care if its never been done before, make it happen!" illustrating that they are intelligent, capable Captains who can follow along with the techno-babble problems, but not outshining their specialist officers who still need to do the heavy lifting to get out of whatever danger the ship is in. But with Janeway she's presented as an equal whose collaborating with her officers, or even helping guide them through the problem. Its part of the reason why I don't connect with the rest of the crew, whenever there is a big crisis moment the crew never gets to shine because Janeway is right there to gloryhog because the writer's are afraid to make it look like she's incapable of doing anything.
I just watched the DS9 episodes about Changelings on earth. It starts out as a oh shit we need to defend the homeworld and turns into a well Id rather be undefended than hurt peoples feelings. Terrible episodes
>>222935381Safe and reliable.
>you now remember janeways weird holodeck novel romance bullshitthey really didn't know what to do with her did they
>>222935381It would be pretty silly if a single Changeling was enough to make a civilization abandon its core principles.I thought it was more fucked up that a space alien was allowed to be President of Earth.
>>222935011The shields hugging the hull always made more sense to me, and it's always what I pictured the TOS/movie shields we never actually see doing. That way it's easier to have a small hole in them, and the shields being divided up by different emitters (aft shields, etc) makes more sense than in a perfect, spheroidal bubble. Too bad they needed to go full-CGI to do it and only did it in their last outing in the 24th century(I just checked Insurrection, the shields are closer to the hull, shots only hit the saucer and it looks like the shield bubble that lights up would only cover the saucer rather than the whole ship, so that was kinda at a halfway point)
>>222935495The original plan was to have her bring aboard her dino bf and each episode would feature brief shots of him going to town on her. Full penetration. From behind, reverse cowgirl, all the hits. It would all be very tasteful, of course.
>>222935528It makes sense, just look at that ponytail handle.
>>222935495And then it was using holo-Leonardo as an advisor which was a much better idea but they ran out of money to keep bringing Gimli back so it actually only happened twice

i know troi and seven of nine are seen as the gold standard of beauty in trek but i really dont see it. especially troi. maybe its the betazoid weird eyes or the curly 80s hair but seven is 5x as good looking even without the sex suit.of course they are mogged effortlessly by ezri but who isn't? have we ranked the trek girls yet

>>222935778Hopefully they'd fry her with phasers, crazy or not.
>>222935340She's not the first captain, she's not even particularly highly ranked. I like everyone long ago accepted women captains and saw it as nothing out of the ordinary. Her problem is that the show treats her as somethign spectacular when she should be a person first and foremost. Want to know what's pathetic. Holly Hunter from that god awful starfleet academy show was a more interesting captain then Janeway.

>>222936114How do you improve Worf as a character?
>type 6 shuttle only appeared from TNG season 5 onwards>it was a modification of the shuttle made for Star Trek V, not the other way aroundWhat the fuck, my internal model of Star Trek's history is in shambles, Star Trek V and VI used so much TNG stuff it made perfect sense to me that they'd borrowed the shuttle from the show too...Anyway, I've always thought they were cute and would make for a highly marketable plush toy
>it would seem we're not...worth destroying. I suppose from their point of view, there's no honour in destroying a...worthless...freighter.

After getting into the Star Trek shows over 15 years ago, I finally got around to watching the 10 movies recently. The TOS movies are better than the TNG movies but tbqh I wasn't really blown away by any of them. There are random TOS 'sodes better than all of the TOS flicks, and if I were to rank them alongside every episode of every show I'm not sure if any of them would make the top 100.The TNG movies aren't *as* bad as Third Reich Mike made me think they'd be. Generations feels sloppy and Kirk's death is awful, First Contact looks really nice but has a stupid script (the Zefram Cochrane part is ok; Borg Queen sucks), Insurrection is the closest to feeling like an episode but a mediocre one, and Nemesis is mostly bad.My favorite out of all 10 movies is unironically The Final Frontier because of how much it focuses on the Big 3.
>>222936653>Borg Queen sucksThey created her because the suits felt the Borg as they had been were boring space zombies and needed an individual face for audiences to react and relate to.
>>222936682
>>222936682People like to react negatively to this as though Locutus, from one of the most highly rated episodes, from the most iconic "what the fuck" cliffhanger of the show, isn't the Borg already exhibiting a capacity and apparent need to have a similar, "higher than a drone" class of representativeHell, he even got a name when the queen herself didn't
>>222936395make him job less
>>222936887So he just hangs around on the bridge, not sure what to do with himself?
>>222936887Competence in his field would help. Every security breach Worf gets ragdolled. Every red alert, Picard never permits Worf to fire at obvious threats.
>>222936395Add wacky sound effects when he gets injured.

>>222937011Clearly the audience is crying out for a Section 31 sequel. How the fuck did that get comparatively so many views?
>>222935503>I thought it was more fucked up that a space alien was allowed to be President of Earth. He was president of the Federation, not Earth
>>222938259Who fucking knows. I find Lower Drecks more interesting because these dipshits were fucking everywhere but it turns out barely anyone actually watched the show.
>>222935011Divide and conquer, oldest doctrine in the book. It's not about being undefended, it's about having something left to defend. The Dominions whole deal is that they are scared to shits by the idea of solids checking their swiss bank accounts and Epstein connections, they are not conquerors for empire, but out of fear of exposure, so their methods involve turning their subjects into brainless consoomers (Vorta), drugged out fanatics (Jem'Hadar) and nationalist chuds working against their own best interest (Cardassians). A Paranoid Federation kept busy with drop-fed conspiracies and terrorist attacks erodes from within.>>222935503It's about eroding trust and sowing dissent.
>>222937451>what happens when “all is not well” inside Starfleet and aims to win over non-Trekkies.Those better not be another villain who feels betrayed by Starfleet and is taking revenge

>>222935781Simpsons man doing stand-up comedy gif
>>222936846Whether Locutus is some new experiment toying with individuality or just standard protocol for creating an ambassador of sorts when assimilation begins is left ambiguous. Locutus also isn't shown to have any personal desires beyond what the Borg Collective wants. The Borg Queen is just straight up a person with the lame desire to have a mate and we're supposed to believe that out of the trillions of people they have encountered, our main characters just happen to be her ideal choices.Plus they say she has always been there so it's a retcon, too.
>>222937082they kill you for that
>>222937451>explores what happens when “all is not well” inside Starfleetthe show has done that dozens of times and it didn't suddenly interest people who don't like Trek. you're not "exploring" shit.
>>222938259Being a movie probably attracted a decent chunk of non-Trekkies just looking for something to watch. Also wouldn't be surprised if the name drew in some DS9 fans who aren't active online and thus unaware that the modern writers didn't understand S31 at all, giving them public buildings and fleets.
>>222939789Movie S31 doesn't feature fleets and secret prisons, that's Discoverys version
>at some point Roddenberry had an idea for a show where Vulcans make first contact but they look like this and as a result humans don't trust them
>>222938259It's Nielsen ratings, extremely unreliable ballpark figures in the age of streaming. Their method only counts data collected from Smart TVs and set-top boxes (What they call the "Glass"), don't have access to first party data for any of the major streaming providers. Various Networks as well as the NFL have publically called Nielsens methodology flawed and interest-based but since Nielsen ratings USED to mean something they're running their company on reputation alone.Interpreting Nielsen data is on par with reading the future from bones.
How do you go from this...

>>222935495I always thought it was a shame that the holodeck scenarios from the first 2 seasons just completely disappear. Added to the vibe I get that the Seven era was ashamed of the Kes era, as also seen with the gag about Kazon being unworthy of assimilation.
