To the anon in the last thread that recommended Hausu...wow. What a movie. I'm obsessed. Is this weird dream like (and kind of anime in real life) aesthetic something typical of 70's Japanese movies or is an artistic choice for this movie specifically?

Just finished. In the running for the worst slasher of the 80s for sure. Late 60s: an american serial killer is executed; late 80s: his spirit is in England for some reason, picking off Catholic schoolgirls having a slumber party. Just right off the bat, the premise makes no sense. More important, you can't see shit in this movie! It's set entirely at night in a building with no electricity, and I don't think they even tried to light it properly. The girls are cute but you can't see them. There's some gore I think, but you can't see it. There's a big rat monster but you can only kind of see it, because it's eyes are glowing. Complete waste of time. This was my fourth school themed slasher in a row, though, and amazingly, ALL FOUR began with some tragedy during the 60s before flashing forward to the present day.

>>222951998Yep, I get the barely related intro scene, it's kinda (shitty) tradition at this point, and it servers the purpose of introducing the evil. But not only in Burn it was absolute shit because it was retarded zero purpose bait-and-switch because they brought back the recognizable character only to never mention her again, they did it again at the very very end in the scene that 99.9999% of the audience will never see (because we want edgy but afraid to do that) and that can't serve any purpose at fucking all because it's not related to the movie at fucking all and it's the damn end, so it's not even a "switch", it's just a "bait" for nothing because I'm sure as hell even if they bring her again in next movie, it will be just a shitty unrelated memberies cameo for 10 seconds again. But otherwise yeah, bretty damn good.

Just finished. Very repetitive and boring slasher where some friends go to fix up an old mansion where a murder took place 40 years earlier, but start getting picked off by the ghost of the old woman who committed the murder. In the first fifteen minutes they manage to have four scenes where someone finds a door stuck and struggles with the lock. More of them come later in the movie. They're supernaturally trapped in the house, unable to break any windows or doors down, and as characters get killed, they come back to hunt down the still living ones as well. There's some okay gore and no nudity. Troma gave it this campy title, the original was The Dead Come Home.

My favorites were movies like Last House On the Left and I Spit On Your Grave, and I thought horror at the time was boring and commercial. I've softened on them since then, if I'd seen this at the time it would've just reinforced my perception of them. This is so fucking girly and every character is a piece of shit. The kills are tame and infrequent. There's no nudity. The plot makes no sense and the killer reveal is one of the most anticlimactic and stupid I can remember. Return to Silent Hill is the worst film to come out this year.
damn, now I wanna rewatch Mimic 2. I remember it being alright 25 years agoand The Fly 2 is sick, people have been underrating that movie forever.
>>222984859Mimic 2 is hot ass
>>222984911does that mean it's good or bad?
>>222983541yes.you have to actually watch it to feel the dread of seeing a dude make mistake after mistake with a weird ass gf
Imagine if she was your mom lole
>>222985325*hole
>>222947595The "alien" in this WAS actually the devil or a demon right?
>>222984911Now I'm actually convinced. But I need to rewatch the original first. Pressing play now
>>222947595>Picnic at Hanging Rock>The Curse Of The Mummy's Tomb >The Woman in Black >The Gorgon>The Wolfman (2011)>The Creeping Flesh>The Devil Rides Out>The GhoulThese last two take place in the 20s but most of the characters are English Aristocrats that it feels more timeless.
>The Devil Rides OutThat's a good-ass moviealso used as a cover by one of my favorite bands. I saw the movie way after hearing them and remember just>Oh shit, so that's where they stole it from?lol
>>222985906>but most of the characters are English Aristocrats so it feels much more timeless in that sense.is how i meant to say that lol
>>222947370Finally watched Undertone. Awful, boring piece of typical A24 wank.
any horror films that helps coping with loss of too many stars?
>>222985978>Movie was spearheaded by Christopher Lee because he simply wanted a movie where Jesus unambiguously defeats Satanretards still call him some kind of occultist to this day
>>222986401He's fine though?
>>222986530it's not over until the fat lady sings

>>222986401He's not dead, just had too many burgers
>>222987957>too many burgersNo such thing. J. Wellington Wimpy ate more burgers than anyone and it never killed him.
>>222988028And that bum never paid a dime!
This movie is straight fucking cheeks and for some reason 2 fucking hours long. But damn it looks amazing. It legit looks better than most every Hollywood movie I see coming out these days. Now, time for Mimic 2
>>222950756God, he’s just the fucking worst. You can just tell that he’s spent his entire life being handed everything. He’s been making movies for around a quarter-century, has never improved his craft in any noticeable way, and always drapes everything in a “It’s bad on purpose” layer of irony because he knows he lacks the talent to make an actual earnest attempt at a horror movie, and the only thing that saved him from making shit for Sci-Fi Channel or Asylum is that he’s friends with Quentin Tarantino. I’m convinced that’s the only way he got the likes of Jamie Lee Curtis and fucking Cate Blanchett to be in a goddamn Borderlands movie of all things.I can’t tell you how much it hurt my soul to watch Joe Bob verbally suck his dick on that Mother’s Day episode of Last Drive-In like he was the reincarnation of Alfred Hitchcock or something.
>>222947549The fact people are unironically praising dogshit like this is the reason why horror is a joke these last decades
>>222988472>picking your foot up that high while walkingWho does that?
>>222984493I forgot that actually came out finally. It facilitated the Silent Hill 2 remake, so I at least appreciate it for that.
Any haunted house movies similar to paranormal activity? In the mood to binge some haunted house movies.
>>222981201Same, except actually I just got a 3 day ban for replying to fixfag
>>222988501>BorderlandsEven Leigh Whannell NOPE'D the fuck out of the commitment early on. He saw the writing on the walls, which was probably massive corporate control over the project. Instead, went on to make another Insidious movie and the cyberpunk GOAT that was Upgrade.
>>222984493Putting aside the terrible CGI, I thought it had a lot to like in it. Might even be one of my favorites of the year.
>>222988610Well there's a ton of sequels. Also check out Grave Encounters.
>>222985563No, it was an alien
