Tuvok didn't get violent enough for my liking. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills every time they wonder if someone is lying and he doesn't just forcefully mind meld with them to get the truth.

why does sci fi have to be horrible now. it's all very unpleasant.
>>
>>223014434
Those youngins WERE his babies. Where did you think they came from?
>>
>>223014505
It wasn't gore horror world until Ceti Alpha 6 exploded.
>>
Just saw this in an old magazine on how a Q Olympics episode was seriously considered. Would have involved the crew with Q vs an alien team picked by another Q with Schwarzenegger as one of the aliens. Here's the details if anyone cares to read, pretty funny but obviously costly idea.
>>
>>223014497
The mind meld is a two way street though, it's not just harvesting information from someone. Tuvok gets so fucked up after mind melding with Lon Suder that he has to make a holodeck program where he kills Neelix over and over and over again to stop himself from killing the real Neelix once.
>>
>>223014450
Drinking out of pewter is hazardous to your health.
>>
>>223014601
Only if it's made with lead.
>>
>>223014592
He wouldn't kill Neelix. He enjoys being around him, that was proven by Tuvix and also the episode where Tuvok became childlike and lost most of his memories. He found Neelix to be a comforting presence.
>>
>>223014497
I think they did a pretty good job of showing tuvok's suppressed violent side. I thought that episode where belana gets in trouble for having mean thoughts and tuvok finds some junkie to sell some dark shit to was pretty spooky as a kid.
>>
>>223014615
How is it made without lead and still called pewter?
>>
>>223014620
He wouldn't kill Neelix but Lon Suder sure would and Tuvok 's mind meld with Suder gave him those I should kill Neelix thoughts that he wouldn't have had without the meld. I was just saying that the mind meld isn't something that Tuvok could use all the time as some kind of polygraph because he's having the other person's thoughts not reading his mind.
>>
>>223014620
I’ll handle it then
>>
>>223014629
I watched that episode the other day and I was very disappointed at the dark imagery. It was twilight zone tier
>>
>>223014633
Nevermind. I looked it up.
Still, I'd never trust anything made of pewter to be "lead free" with all that is so untrustworthy today.
>>
>>223014633
You make it with tin and call it pewter. You could make it with aluminum foil and call it pewter but it's more believable with tin.
>>
>>223014582
I'm talking not talking about Ceti Alpha 6 solely. I'm talking about the world Trek is set in which has fragile organs and composite and trauma pain flesh sacks.
>>
just finished watching first contact. i kind of wish that the borg queen would've been a result of hugh's individuality being self contained to a single unit rather than the retcon that happened in the movie. meaning that the enterprise accidentally created her
>>
>>223014670
You're probably right about it being too costly to employ it for every situation but I still think the mind meld was underused.
>>
>>223014727
Tuvok was underused in general. Most of his episodes either weren't very good, even for Voyager, or he was teamed up with Neelix for the Odd Couple in space.

It's really getting hard to rank this SNW season in terms of what the worst episode actually is...

Here's my ranking, from Best to Worst:

ep 6: Off-Hour: the disabled ship disaster one
The only actually good episode but bit slow and too long. Love the gravity scene and irradiated/swollen Spock spitting blood almost made me cry.

ep 5: Level-Five Transporter Accident: the puppet one
So bad/dumb that it's actually good? The cutest Trek episode ever made.

ep 1: Valles Marineris: time travel, dinosaurs/Mars one
Low quality effects, too bizarre wannabe "epic" story, lame for not meeting the other warring bug aliens.

ep 3:Human Best Friend: the drunk/high resort/hangover one
Too dumb with everyone acting stupid cause it'd be "hilarous" but at least more entertaining than these:

ep 4: A Case of Chiaroscuro: the black & white detective one
Boring and full of dumb scenes where they instantly figure everything out

ep 2:The Griffin Incident: the haunted ship one
Boring with lame ending

ep 7: Like Chronitons Through the Hourglass: the soap opera one
Slow, dumb and boring feelings episode but it's fake so it doesn't matter or does it?
>>
>>223015165
Clearly you have no idea how much I love Brussels Sprouts.
>>
>>223015331

Seeing Wrath of Khan in theaters was pure kino.

On Tuesday they're playing all 4 movies back-to-back. I'd definitely check out Wrath of Khan if you missed it on Saturday. UpscaleAnon here. Here's a second run at doing a 960p upscale test. I didn't make any modifications to the sharpness or do any anti-aliasing when de-interlacing the DVD source this time to fix the issues with over-sharpness and weird blacks after upscaling. I picked some of the same frames as before including Bashir penis reveal.

If you're talking about how everything in the upscale appears slightly darker, I noticed that. I haven't figured out if it's a consequence of the upscaling or if it can be avoided. I paid extra attention to preserving original color metadata this time around. ffprobe on both the source file and the final upscale encode are:

pix_fmt=yuv420p
color_range=tv
color_space=smpte170m
color_transfer=smpte170m
color_primaries=smpte170m

and when I downscaled and enocded from the upscaled PNG frames I did

scale=1280:960:flags=spline:in_color_matrix=bt601:out_color_matrix=bt601

to make sure that it was explicit the the PNGs were
SMPTE 170M/BT.601.

Basic tennet of management is not to assign a project to someone emotionally invested. Those can and should work on it, but those in charge need to be focused on overall success backed by objectivve metrics, not working towards a personal goal. That's why most actors never get a say in their characters writing unless they've proven themselves to be impartial beyound doubt.

I'm on Season 2 of Voyager. Just finished the episode where Harry Kim gets sucked into a Time Stream and sent to an alternate Earth where his life is great.

Does this mother fucker ever learn how to act? I get that for big episodic shows like this it usually takes the actors and the writers some time to figure out the essence of a character, so the best performances always come later.

But after sitting through an entire season i've realized that is not actually his problem. He simply cannot act. The random extra they pulled in to play his girlfriend is a far more convincing character than he is. Harry Kim is just a wet noodle that memorizes his lines and spits them right back out. They give him a big Comrades In Arms moment with Tom Paris and just don't buy any of it. He had the entire episode to himself and it was terrible, I actually fell asleep halfway through.
