its crazy how the past 26 years of Star Trek has been complete ass. all the good shit came in the 34 years before
>>22309890060 YEARS AND THIS MO-FO STILL GOIN
Getting sloppy on the enterprise must be insane.
I might be genuinely missing something so if I am, fill me in. Why havent they done a low budget TNG/Voy throwback series yet? 24 episodes on a new, absolutely bottom tier budget with nothing but Shakespearean and theatre unknowns. Flat lighting, carpet in the bridge, bring back the hotel vibe. Theres no way this doesnt make a insane amount of cash, people have been waiting since Voy for this. So 25 years? I am sure theres some nerd, probably in this thread, with good enough taste in scripts that he could be a showrunner. Im definitely sure theres at least 3 autists with folders full of episode ideas. This isnt even taking into account the super trekies on their forums. So you have to question if its more than they dont want to. Because they are clearly able and there's a demand.
>>223099840They are making a horror game.
>>223099948meh they always misunderstood horror in original trek I don't have high hopes
>>223099967Same but at least my queen will appear.
>>223099840It's my fault. I've been too lazy and have been procrastinating on releasing my thinly veiled trek fanfiction that will lead to me becoming a big time hollywood writer with the proper connections to become a showrunner. I assure you that as soon as I get my alcoholism under control I will get working on recreating real Sar Trek.
>>223099840You don't know what you're talking about and you have no eye for detail. The production values of TNG and Voy are far, far beyond what they're doing with nutrek. They don't have the capability to do something comparable to even TOS, much less TNG era stuff.
>>223100211I'll have a full 1080p episode soon to share. I'm just working on refining the quality of the deinterlaced source I give to the upscaler.
>>223100002Ebin
>>223100267no you're wrong, its basic shit. they could do it, they just rather have pike acting like a wine mom and gay spock twerking. its just like every other show, we got taken over by a social movement these people arent fans
>>223100389I fucking hate modern feminist writing but some episodes of TNG where also cancer.
>>223100389Yeah you're retarded. >>223100306Voyager also has 5 seasons on laserdisc.
>>223100148You seem to be under the misunderstanding that I'm beeffies or another female with which you are obsessed. I am a simple anonymous man, who has developed a questionably effective long term plan to save star trek though web fiction. My drinking problem is unrelated to hers and I am more of a liquor man with no fondness for wine. However I still work to delude myself with a potential future as a professional writer, seeing the fruits of my mind made into reality. At my heart I know I will never be a creator of note, have no chance of becoming a steward of Trek, and will inevitable amount to nothing.
>PAnon meltdownYeah he's retarded.
>PAnonabsolutely no clue what this guy is talking about, sounds like a nu trek fan tbqh
>>223100547Your posting pattern is very recognizable. I'm just asking you to stop being so argumentative, the adults are trying to have a trek discussion and you are telling people to fuck off for no reason.
>>223100322Why didn't anyone stay behind on the 37 utopia world to help rebuild humanity and expand the gene pool? Janeway had already proven she wasn't going to compromise her high and mighty personal principles to get the crew home faster, even when they had the opportunity to cut their total travel distance is half. Which is saying something when the estimated voyage was 75 years at Maximum Warp non-stop, which is impossible to do, meaning a realistic travel time was at least 100 years, meaning most the crew wont survive the trip anyway. Why did they chicken out on taking the entire premise of the show seriously, and instead treat it like a chore they were forced to pay lip-service to?
>>223100424I wasn’t addressing anyone specific or with any ulterior motives. I’m very direct. Obtusely
honestly the ending of Voyager and the fact they ended it so abruptly really soured me on it. they couldn't have shot in san fran for one day to wrap up the show?
>>223100896>A noted critic of the writing and characterizations on the show, Beltran had several gripes about the final episode. He complained that the episode was written with a lack of care, too quickly wrapping up some well-established story arcs. Additionally, Beltran theorized that the episode was written out of frustration over Voyager's audience ratings, stating about the writers, "They took it out on us by saying, 'This show's no good. Let's get it over with as quickly as possible so we can fix it for the next one.'" Beltran also rhetorically asked about the installment, "This is what we're going out with?" and claimed the episode made him feel vindicated about his belief that the writers were "idiots," saying it was unfortunate that the fans were "going to have to sit through it."
>>223100710My apologies, I tend to become verbose six drinks in. I have been meaning to look into the director of Obsession after watching it a few weeks ago. Personally I thought the movie was predictable and ultimately quite mediocre, but I can't deny the impact it seems to have had among the general public. My current plan leans more literary, as I lack the financial privileges of a film student and am locked into the hell of retail. However, I fear that my own biases and inexorable state of mind will prevent me from ever creating anything with the wide market appeal that would be needed to attain recognition from that powers that be.
>>223100972You’re about to give me a brain hemorrhage. Idk if he has a degree or not that’s irrelevant they grinded sketch comedy on YouTube and did stand up to stay alive. Working their craft. You don’t need anything other than a camera and another person. And your script of course
>>223100972Their comedy sketches were often sci-fi premises. Before you give up again
>>223100802You would think Insaneway would be under obligation to help thousands of humans. They already had alien tech, it would only take a few years to bring them up to Starfleet standards and create a Delta Federation outpost, with dozens of delta flyers, runabouts and shuttles sufficient to rape the Kazon and Videans.
>>223100954>On the other hand, Beltran also cited this episode as a highlight for showing some personal aspects of Chakotay's life, particularly the relationship with Seven of Nine. This is the same guy who said the Prime Directive was 'fascist crap'. He's just your typical actor who gets mad when his character doesn't get more focus.

>>223101471In 2401, Commander Ro Laren and two security officers took the Gorkon from the Intrepid to the USS Titan. Ro insisted on the shuttle as she did not trust the transporter operators on the Intrepid. After sharing her fears of widespread Changeling infiltration of Starfleet with Admiral Jean-Luc Picard, Ro departed on the Gorkon. En route, her security officers, who had been replaced by Changelings, planted a bomb on the shuttle and transported to the Titan. Unable to disarm the bomb in time, or beam away due to a transport inhibitor, Ro piloted the Gorkon into the Intrepid's port nacelle, giving the Titan an opportunity to escape.
>>223101535She should have died on Voyager IMO opinion but at least it was some closure.
This is the 3rd or 4th episode in a row where they specifically mention only having an hour to do something.
>>223101421It's AI slop what do you expect.
>>223100306Apparently because of a change in workflow, it's purported that only seasons 1-3 of DS9 and seasons 1-4 of VOY have visually superior LD releases and for seasons 4-5 of DS9 and season 5 of VOY the DVD release is superior. It would be interesting to make a comparison of the later season LDs vs DVDs. Since we'll never get a true HD remaster of the two series we can only hope someone will make definitive transfers of the best LD/best DVD releases.

>>223101117How big was the colony by that point, 5,000? 10k? If they had the time and the tech they might've made a small fleet of ships to carry all the humans back to the Alpha quadrant, if they hadn't been happy on their own Delta quadrant planet already.
I've seen every episode of TOS at least a dozen times and still forgot there was an Andorian in The Gamesters of Triskelion.I always think of Journey to Babel, Whom Gods Destroy, and The Lights of Zetar.
>>223105826>This isn't breeding material.
>>223106108>Fifteen generations later, there are more than 100,000 humans living in three cities on the planet. It's official, Janeway is retarded
Can you imagine the sheer amount of bickering over the thermostat on a Federation starship with a diverse crew from many different worlds?
>>223106336I imagine many ships in starfleet were staffed by mostly 1 species that was most local. Especially if they had more extreme preferred environmentsThe Enterprise is the flagship though so was more diverse.
>>223106108pop was over 100k in 3 cities. they didnt have any spaceflight capability. would take years to bring them up to speed with starfleet. can help them more by finding a shortcut to earth and coming back later

>>223106268Considering she has no children, no. She isn't.
>>223106336It's probably standardized to human standards around the temperatures of what constitutes an M-class planet, to avoid that sort of bickering. If you're an alien in the Academy that prefers a specific kind of environment and can't stand the Earth environment, you're probably only going to qualify for special services in a special environment. Maybe working as a Starfleet representative to your own homeworld or something, in some capacity, or if there are enough of your species, sure, they could make a 'weird gaseous people ship' or something. But it's not they're going to be ambushing these aliens with a sudden unreasonable demand. They'll know they'll have to be able to suffer an Earth-like environment because that's where the Academy is.
>>223106364starfleet is like nato. despite claiming many members starfleet is really only human (USA) and vulcan (west euro) all the other aliens run seperate fleets and theres never a reference to an all tellerite or andorian starfleet ship like there is with vulcans.

One thing I always notice about TOS is how although it may seem "cheesy" and "dated" these days, it completely took itself 100% seriously. It was earnest. It wasn't a comedy, although they had comedic episodes. It also broke the sci-fi mold in the 1960s; it wasn't a kids show like Lost in Space which really was just a comedy. People respected Star Trek.So why is it now, 60 years later, a series that may seem goofy and silly shouldn't be allowed to present itself in a serious manner? Why is sincerity seen as "cringe"?
>>223106998How did you know?
>>223106444it's not his picture he only saved it from twitter or facebook
>>223107028First of all, TOS isn't dated>Why is sincerity seen as "cringe"?this is a defense mechanism because people are too insecure. be it in real life or writers of tv shows and movies who are too scared of making something real and having people call it shit so they hide behind irony and detachment. but people are becoming really fucking sick of this trend I think and it's starting to come back around to sincerity being cool
>>223107297>First of all, TOS isn't datedI know it isn't that's why I put it in quotations, because a lot of retarded people dismiss it as such
>>223107297>First of all, TOS isn't datedLol, lmao
>>223107435NTA but the stories aren't dated. The sets and the effects are dated, if you watch the non-remastered version anyway. But is that really what makes a show modern to you? A shitty, digital look and a lot of lens flares and flashing lights?Sure, there might be the odd line about women or something that is individually dated but that's like getting a small rock in your sandal when you're going to look at the Grand Canyon. Are you going to bitch about the rock in your shoe the entire fucking time or are you just going to shake it out and appreciate the beauty?

ENT is way more dated than other Berman Trek.
>>223107435Don't speak for me, faggot>>223107297The thing is, the irony-pilled attitude predates even Tranny Decks and other modern slop. It started with the baby boomers. I saved a post on TrekBBS where some 70 year old faggot blamed the 90s shows for killing the franchise because they "took themselves too seriously", and he pointed to "Kirk fighting the rubber lizard man" as an example of what Star Trek SHOULD be... but he forgot that, in the context of the episode, it was a serious life or death struggle between Kirk and the Gorn, and only a lead brained idiot who bought into pop culture jokes would think of it as being purposefully goofy/silly.
>>223107562Maybe the "so bad it's good" audience or something? Or is Michelle Yeoh just a draw and asians will watch anything she's in?
We talking about sincerity again? David would be so pissed about them not letting you smoke weed at a tennis tournament. RIP King.
>>223107508This one TAS episode takes itself seriously, despite the stiff animation. Probably because the short story it's adapted from is good and they didn't really change much.
>>223107628>It started with the baby boomersi don't think it started with them. the boomers on TrkeBBS have literally no original thought in their head. that guy you saw making that comment is just repeating what he saw some zoomer say and because he wants to seem WITH IT, he repeated it. the bbs geezers are a very special kind of retarded.

>>223107754Yeah, especially in the last episode of TOS.

I hate boomers who do this shit.
>can't watch a 60 year old sci-fi series but can watch a 50 year old sci-fi animeMaybe I am retarded tbqh.
>>223107886You are.Anime being foreign offers another layer of separation from its sincerity which gives your addled post-ironic brain a little more comfort and makes it a little more digestible. TOS is too familiar, it's just Americans speaking English so you find it dated and off-putting and corny in its sincerity. To be honest, this is a pretty common phenomenon and how a lot of westerns are able to digest anime themes easily and agreeably where they'd find the same themes off-putting and cheesy if in a western show. Things like loving your comrades, your friends, being willing to sacrifice yourself for them, all of that stuff which is so common in anime and so alien to us.

I just dont accept Skrain as being Dukat's name. it's "canon" I reject the same as Trelane being a Q. it's just retarded and wrong, sorry
>>223108870Compared to modern norms, I guess. But personally, I think modern shaky cam fight choreography is also dogwater piss terrible these days where everyone knows kung fu. There's something charming about Kirk using weird pro-wrestling moves from the 1960s Also, Trek was pretty expensive and always high budget, or right on the edge of being high budget. The lizardman outfit is iconic. Either way, you're focusing on the wrong things.>the idea that a giant alien lizard man who makes retard noises is actually totally just like us is unbelievable. Here is where you go completely off the rails, though. The gorn doesn't need to be "just like us," he just needs to have sentience and the ability to reason. The point being that aliens might very well be completely hideous and otherworldly to us but still be sentient and still be logical and still have order to their thoughts and all the same kind of cultural idiosyncracies that we might have -- just entirely alien and different to our own. However, it's a safe bet that regardless of those differences, a creature like the gorn would resent being exploited for laboratory use.Would it help you understand the episode if he had an asspussy on his face or there were some Darmok memes to make it easily digestible for you?
>>223109343You're right. Star Trek should be irony-poisoned like Lower Decks and Strange New Worlds. You've convinced me.

>>223109661a win for all trek-kind
>>223109586That's not my point. Tapestry is considered one of the best episodes of Star Trek ever. But if the aliens in this episode (and thus Picard, portraying one of those aliens) had huge bat ears, unicorn horn and anteenas steaking out of their heads, and their skin was purple, don't you think it would undermine that episode? The story you want to tell is important, but so is the presentation. You can't talk about important topic like say sexual assault, while dressed like a clown and doing usuall clown tricks. It kinda ruines what you're trying to do. Just like the cheapness of "Arena" did.

Now that it's been 60 years, or 40 or considering syndication, are they EVER going to restore that episode that they censored back in the 80s? The one with the spear that gets chucked into a redshirt? That spear could originally be seen sticking into him and didn't have fog at all.

No other character in Star Trek represents individualism as much as Ro Laren so letting the player feel the weight of their choices would make it a more immersive Ro Laren experience.Plus it's a tradition in Trek games that I get rid of the crew members I don't like by sending them on suicide missions.Something like the Dark Pictures anthology series would be my dream for future Star Trek horror games, especially the one where they go to the desert and find a temple and you think it's demons at first but then you realize it's vampires but then it's space vampires and you find the UFO buried under the temple.I'm big hyped for this game.

They built a 1:1 Enterprise for filming in and hired actors for new characters, and are using AI for the og cast, so it's kind of a hybrid of a bunch of technologies that are developing at speeds that outpace production of the scripts. It'll be really interesting to see how it all plays out. If Enterprise ever got to the Earth-Romulan war, I think the obvious thing they would have done was have Archer see the Romulans for one reason or another, and have him not disclose their appearance to protect the foundation of the Federation. Romulans looking like Vulcans would have killed it.
>>223115021its not an issue. no reason to break from canon. audience can see the romulans without the characters seeing the romulans.
