i like that pluto has all the star trek for free on individual channels and on demand. do wish they had a channel that rotated through the series like h&i though
Having mac & cheese for dinner two nights in a row because I forgot to go grocery shopping. Tonight's episode is Mudd's Women, which was the one I used as the test download when I was first trying to find the non-remastered Original Series when I first downloaded it 2 years ago, because that was the one that was used as a comparison in the top results on youtube; specifically the shot where they open the panel on the guy's chest. Anyone who prefers the remastered version of that is fucking blind.

I like when TOS remastered adds new ships (usually where the dialogue says there's one but there isn't), and I like the expanded matte paintings, and adding phaser blasts where sometimes it would be a blob of light. But I definitely prefer the original version. The new CGI outer space scenes have not aged well at all.

>>223212370Harry Mudd was a really fun character, and I think if they had catered the episode around him a little more I would've liked it. But the whole thing with the Venus Drug and the placebo twist at the end felt more like a fantasy plot than anything with a scientific basis. I also thought the domestic squabble between Childress & Eve was both tawdry and undercooked - well the whole plot was undercooked, but that aspect was the most al dente. Even the "material compounding threat" they tack on top of the more cerebral plot (such as the death spiral from Naked Time or the freezing away team from Enemy Within) with the burnt out Lithium Crystals and Mudd undercutting the trade for his own ends could've been handled better. They had the ticking clock set too fast and forced it to take a back seat to "la femme mystique" or whatever. Thank god Mudd comes back later, because this would be a waste of a great character otherwise, worst episode of TOS so far.>>223212554>>223212945Yeah, that's what I was saying.

>>223216533Neelix could fix me.Not in some sort of romantic way, but he's empathetic and tenacious. been watching TNG for the first time; just watched the seasonn 6 episode that was a DS9 cross over. Do I need to be watching DS9 in tandem to TNG? I was planning on watching all of TNG then the movies then going from there but now I don't know
>>223216533Atleast I'm not seeing him after I die, there is some mercy

>>223217079I watched all of TNG, then Generations, then all of DS9.Now I'm on VOY and after VOY I'll finish the TNG Movies. My watching of DS9 was not affected by doing it this way.Generations comes directly after TNG Chronologically , so that is why I watched it right after TNG. The other movies seem to take place at different points during DS9.
>>223217079If it was Firstborn that episode just feels like a DS9 sidequest anyway so it's not really a big deal.
>>223213936Cool, the top was originally the bottom side.
>>223216428
>>223217079Chain of Command was intended to be the first crossover episode. Instead of going to that Star Wars cantina, Picard, Worf and Crusher were supposed to go to DS9. They would ask for Runabouts too. But the DS9 pilot (which was already produced) aired a little later and they decided to go without DS9 references. So, DS9 sets in a bit after Chain of Command. The episode mentions that the Cardassians withdrew from Bajor at the end.
>>223217242Actually wait that's S7, but it still doesn't matter.
>TOS: Episode 66 - Day of the DoveA bit of a hamfisted anti-war allegory but it was fun to see more of the Klingons and get some warfare on the Enterprise. Got a little space racism and an almost rape scene giving this one a bit of an edge.

>TOS: Episode 67 - Plato’s StepchildrenAnother batshit S3 episode. While “Who Mourns for Adonis” stands above as a similar greek-inspired under the thumb of a tyrant plot, this is still fairly interesting for the over the top physical acting required of Spock and Kirk during their psycho-kinetic humiliation rituals, and the dwarf actor playing Alexander. I never expected that the famous Uhura/Kirk kiss would be under duress. I understand why that would be the more notable kiss at the time, but for me, it hurt more to see Nurse Chapel with her multi-episode crush on Spock be put into this situation. >TOS: Episode 68 - Wink of an EyeLoved the premise of a race of beings that exist between the seconds taking Kirk into their time reference to breed their queen, unfortunately (and I’m really not normally this kind of guy) plot holes hold this episode back from being one of the greats. It’s a real heartbreaker because I really enjoyed the effect and the situation but the episode contradicts itself and pushes the two time frames interacting beyond believability, the Scalosians and their plan makes little sense, and the ending feels wrong for not ending happily for them (a solution was found and that’s oddly ignored, like the script ran out of time). On the plus side, besides the potential, and the effect, I quite enjoyed the female character of the day as one of Kirk’s more memorable squeezes, and the ending with Spock was fun. An episode I wanted to love that I have to just like because of some glaring flaws, oh well.

>TOS Episode 69 - That Which SurvivesA decent little episode with a good enough A and B plot (planet survival + catastrophic engine failure), some good utilization of Scotty and Sulu which is uncommon and welcome. Spock at his most autistic here, this script played his Vulcan side very straight, and is uncharacteristically comfortable having him be a little snippy without facing pushback or an eyeroll. The “redshirt” (wearing blue) of the episode got a little more to him than usual too. Enough atypical aspects to notice, but not in a bad way.

Kirk got to big dick with the self destruct sequence threat which was a very cool moment, and the final reveal was dramatic. As far as “Star Trek does the Star-Bellied Sneetch” goes, this is better than I would have pictured that going.

>>223219127>First Minister ShakarThere is some overlap between Zorro and Trek. Obviously Duncan Regehr. JG Hertzler and Henry Darrow. Any others?
>>223220521That’s all for this marathon. 9 episodes remain of TOS, then I’m off to TAS.
Why does everything in Star Trek look worse than Philadelphia did in 1907? Are we really supposed to believe that they live in a better future?

>>223219620>Kira wasn't a whore or a slut. The hell she wasn't. She was the one willing to do all the sex scenes, Mirror Universe Kira was a huge slut and enjoyed it, if DS9 had been an HBO series you'd have seen her pussy. Even when the scene didn't call for it they'd have her doing some sort of pose for the camera. If the writers had stuck with the Good Guy Dukat arc she would've ended up fucking him.

>>223220769Kira has a full bush.Nana has a neatly trimmed landing strip.
>>223220777It's a skant and it's unisex. Just one of the many ways Star Trek attempted to push the envelope ahead of it's time. Didn't land too well with audiences and the actors so it was phased out, but it remains one of the most talked about pieces of wardrobe featured in Trek, so it provoked just the kind of discussion it was aimed to do.
>>223220806I think it's sorta banging, reminds me of medieval purpoints.

>>223218523she didn't, that's deceptive editing by Behr who actually hates him for reasons I sti haven't been able to figure out. apparently it has something to do with the fact that he didn't want Alaimo for the part but the person he originally cast did not work for Dukat at all during filming the pilot and they had to recast him. Behr always has some snide comment to say about Marc if he says anything at all. he has no problem glazing all the other actors. there's definitely something going on there.
>>223221205You look pretty good.
>>223221318Marc is like sorta crazy red blooded man, Behr obviously hates him because Behr got a purple goatee.
>>223218523>it should have been ro from the start. she would have fucked dukat np.Source: your ass
>>223221318I wouldn't be surprised if it was because Wolfe, Alaimo and Nicholas Corea basically overrided Behr on his own show. Those three are the only reason Dukat was such a great character for 5 seasons. Behr was especially angry about it because Dukat was so overwhemingly popular and inherently anti-semitic. They dragged Behr kicking and screaming the entire time until Wolfe left the production then Behr made it his mission in life to shit on Dukat/Alaimo as hard as he possibly could.
>>223221374Dukat doesn't get ruined until season 7 anyway, and he's not the only character that gets shit on that season either.Nothing is worse in the show than the Worf, Ezri Bashir love triangle. It's even worse that Quark in drag
>>223221412>Dukat doesn't get ruined until season 7 anywayBitch please
>>223221467He gets ruined when he gets a pah wraith up his ass.The mental break down era Dukat doesn't ruin him, the direction he takes after the mental breakdown does. So I mean technically you are right that he's ruined before 7, but only because its like right at the end of 6 that he does get ruined
>>223221615bruh literally everything he does after Waltz is out of character and retarded. he's ruined.
>>223221631Shh. Just let anon live his delusion. We know the truth.
>>223221631You pretty much just agreed with what I said though. He's in 2 episodes after Waltz in s6. One of them is the "I totally banged your mom btw Kira" episode, and most of him in that episode is past Dukat. This place seems to really like that episode lol. After that he's next in the s6 finale which is where he gets ruined with pahwraith garbage. You are quibbling over 1 episode where current day Dukat barely shows up
>>223221703>and most of him in that episode is past Dukatlol no. like anon said, you are just delusional.
>>223221720I think you need to rewatch the episode man. Most of it takes place in Kiras orb experience.
>>223221732I think you need to take your meds because you're not thinking straight
>>223221732>>223221748actually I just realized I misunderstood what you meant by "past Dukat" as in, it's showing him in the literal past and not "past Dukat" as in, how he was as a character before Waltz. but even his brief scene in present in that episode is retarded and out of character and not how he would have acted pre-Waltz
>>223221748I just scrubbed through the episode. Post Waltz Dukat only shows up for the phone call in the opener to brag to Kira about banging her mom. After that the Dukat on screen is Bajoran occupation era Dukat in Kiras orb experience, not post Waltz Dukat. The orb experience is over two thirds of the entire episodeYou are wrong.
>>223221785And I still don't think the brief I banged your mom scene ruins Dukat either. It's understandable that Dukat would be vindictive and unstable after losing his daughter and his career and dignity etc.The pahwraith is when Dukats character is assassinated and he's nothing but a cartoon villain. Alaimo is so good that he at least is fun to watch still though. If you really wanna plant your flag on the "I banged your mom Kira" you can I guess. He was still a character at that point, just in an unstable position.

>>223221631Shut up, Weyoun
>>223221841>And I still don't think the brief I banged your mom scene ruins Dukat either.i know you don't.
>>223221899Ok man well I brought examples and reason and you brought emotions.Have fun in your corner I guess. You just come off that you are salty that anything bad could happen to your precious baby boy Dukat, even though it was always going to happen because this is star trek and villains rarely go unpunished.I love peak Dukat too, but he was never going to reconquer Bajor and become president of the Dominion.
>>223221919k
Waltz was episode 11 of s6. That was the point Dukat was character assassinated. Undeniably. So yes Dukat is only good up until s5 and then Behr ruins him in s6 almost the exact moment Wolfe left.
>>223221841>He was still a character at that point, just in an unstable positionNot as unstable as the positions he put Meru in.
>>223221841>his daughters is murdered>dukat takes time to call up kira in the middle of the night to gloat about fucking her momYeah that's exactly what is meant by turning Dukat into a cartoon villain. The timing is bad writing. Sorry you don't have good enough taste to parse that.
>>223221945Go on then. How was Dukat supposed to react to the fallout from losing at DS9 and losing his daughter. You are only wagging your finger at Waltz because it led to pahwraith crap later on. If the pahwraith shit never happened then what?
>>223221945he wasn't character assassinated in Waltz. in fact due to the writers' apparently incompetence, it actually ended up sane washing him a bit if anything. the reason it's an embarrassing episode is because the desperation of the showrunners going >STOP LIKING THIS MAN HES SUPPOSED TO BE BAD WAAAAAshines through. but otherwise it's a cool and well done episode that just kind of spoonfeeds the audience what they should have already figured out about him because he was an excellent character up to that point
>>223213552Enterprise had an ep where T'pol had a cavity & the alien doc fixed it
>>223221974>>223221985>take a rational, if sadistic, man and break him down into a sniveling schizo begging for sisko's permission to exist>not character assassinationIt's typical jewish revenge porn. A literal humiliation ritual.
>>223221972Dukat and Kira always had a weird relationship. The more Kira shits on Dukat the more Dukat thinks he wants him. Explained by the OBrien and lady cardy misunderstanding earlier on.Dukat blames Kira partially for Zyals death because she wouldn't have still ben on the station if not for Kira. So yes, him calling up in the middle of the night like a jilted ex just to fuck with her makes sense. If dukats mental breakdown didn't lead to stuffing a wriath in his cardussy and they did something more thoughtful you wouldn't be complaining about this
>>223222020>the more Dukat thinks he wants himThis part is true. The exact wording of it.
>>223222019and now you reveal how you never watched the show lmao. wanting Sisko-senapi to notice him was a part of like 60% of the scenes he's even in up to then
WHAT DO YOU MEAN "We're not friends" ????
>>223222082Show me 60% of the scenes where Dukat is literally on his knees begging for Sisko's approval.
>>223222139You literally just can't handle that a cool character can have bad things happen to them. He is regularly shown as being a narcissist as early as season 2, at least a narcissist by human standards.
>>223222166I didn't say he wasn't a narcissist and I'm one of the most critical posters of Dukat who routinely argues that he constantly lied about his crimes in earlier seasons while magatards try to say he improved Bajor. But you're just dishonest. Dukat was on his fucking knees having a schizophrenic episode begging Sisko for acknowledgement and you want to pretend like it's "60% of the scenes he's even in up to then". Get punched in the face you bad faith cunt.
>>223222197your criticism doesn't mean anything when you reveal you're not aware of some of the most basic and fundamental aspects of his character that the show beats you over the head with
>>223222197He was having a mental breakdown, and there are understandable reasons for why he would have one. You just wont accept it because it makes Dukat uncool. Seriously go back to TNG where everybodies character remains the same through the entire series if you can't handle it.
>>223222206You can assert that as many times as you want but it'll never be true you slime. You haven't made a single post that wasn't predicated on an outright lie.
>>223222226I'm not sure if you are dishonest or smooth brained.Either way I don't care anymore. You refuse to engage in the discussion with anything other than vibe posting and insults
>>223222250More blatant dishonesty from you. Your posts have just consisted of>You just wont accept it because it makes Dukat uncool>You literally just can't handle that a cool character can have bad things happen to them>and now you reveal how you never watched the show lmaoYou're not a good person.
>Mirror Universe DaxAMABATAKUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUM

More dishonesty by misrepresenting what was said. Honestly kys. You suck.
>>223222297>If I just ignore the actual examples and reasoning he used nobody will realise im actually just shitting my own pants. You ignored my reasons for him having a mental break, for why he called kira, for why dukat and kiras relationship is so misread by him. I liked unstable madman "I fucked your mom" Dukat. If anything was wrong with him in season 7 it's that he was too stable. I wanted him broken, occasionally talking to his hallucinations and making leaps in logic that don't make sense until you work to figure out his reasoning.
