None of the movies are horror, and half the games aren't even survival horror just glorified shooters

RE9 Was almost a horror game, but they had to put Leon in it.

I had to play the demo with a walkthrough and beat the entire ship section of re7 with a youtube walkthrough on another screen. Gotta make sure I don’t buy re9 no how tempting it looks.
>>

I mean, yeah I guess it comes with a giant twist, but it's still a documentary and I still found it kinda mean to include on some list of

movies lol
>>
>>223211635
I've never owned a 4k screen or tv. Are they that good compared to blu-ray?
>>
>>223211648
The Grace section of the game is pretty good Anon.
The Leon section is fun, but not horror at all.

>>
>>223211684
some movies look really cool on 4k
>>
>>223211288
It's an action horror.
>>
>>223211684
I've seen some very good looking 1080p blu-rays, but they'll only ever look about as good as a decent 4K, whereas a good 4K release can be incredible, with rich colors and pristine down-to-the-grain detail that can even give a kind of 3D effect in some scenes.
>>
>>223212116
>a kind of 3D effect in some scenes
I agree the "depth" is noticeably different from blu ray and combine that with a film that benefits from HDR it can look quite impressive
>>
>>223211684
A good 1080p can look better than a bad 4k but a good 1080p will never look better than a good 4k. Resolution is just one piece of the puzzle.
If you truly care about watching movies in the best possible quality, then you should be watching on a 4k screen but researching which version is the best for each individual movie. Sites like capsaholic and the bluray.com forums are good for this.
Good 4k TVs and players aren't expensive any more anyway so there isn't really an excuse.
>>
>>223211969
Lmao. Same. I was shopping for a new 4k tv and had to look at my old box for the size and it turned out my tv was already 4k.
>>
>>223211820
The twist in
>"Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father"
is that you find out that the son Zacharty is already dead. His mother killed him, along with herself, after killing his father. So it's a beautiful documentary and videoletter to no one.

>>223211846
I've seen worse. But I just thought it was messed up to put it on a list of movies with great twists lol. It's not a movie like that.

>>
>>
>>223212622

At the end of the day, no horror film is scarier than real life.
>>
>>223212546

That's just James Cameron movies because he's retarded and demands it for some reason. It's standard practice for a 4K re-release to re-scan the film elements in 4K (or higher) and work with that
>>
>>223213584
Idk why, but I like the Argonaut door.
I am sure it will probably end up being incredibly gay tho.
Normally I don't like ambiguity. I don't like the "leave it up to the audience to decide" trope either.
Jason getting explained by modern writers is going to be a disaster. There is no way they could pull it off.

>Obscure literal no-budget shitty horror movie made in some backwater part of the world gets the most pristine and beautiful 4k restoration known to man.
>Famous and highly regarded horror movie either still hasnt got 4k release yet or got a lazy slop-upscale in 4k.

Why is this so common?
>>
>>223213794
Probably because the indie movie never made much money, but might have cult status, and the makers want to try and get more.
>>
>>223213794
>>223213844
This.
Also, often comes down to who holds the rights. Highly regarded movies have studios who are very reluctant to have anyone else touch it and they often don't have the skills or expertise to restore it themselves, so it will rot in a warehouse instead.
>>
>>223213791
Had some greedy producer approached Van Sant to remake Psycho and he deliberately did a lazy shitty job to make a point and about remaking classics it would have been based. But in actually Van Sant was the retard that pushed for it and did so explicitly because it was easy money so fuck him.

I've been going through all the Last Drive-In episodes that I've been hoarding over the last few years, and just got to pic related. It's different, I'll give it that.

I guess after decades of seeing that cover and having no idea what kind of movie it was, I was always kind of expecting something like an edgier version of Little Monsters or something, and was met with something that changes genres a few times. It starts off almost as a psychological thriller, then a slasher, then a horror/fantasy, then a comedy, then an action movie, and I could barely tell what was going on at the end. Like I guess Boon (now Cabal) was basically going to find the surviving Nightbreed their own monster Israel, but I don't get what was up with the priest who splashed the bowl of Baphomet juice in his face. Were they setting him up to be the villain in a sequel or something?

studios treat their non-moneymaking ips like shit and lots of those indie restorations are the result of indies licensing shit their studios don't care about. Not even 15 minutes into The Bell From Hell and it's pretty brutal. A prolonged cow butchering montage with audio of dying cows added in for extra effect.
And still no idea what's happening at all, besides the guy being let out on probation from an institution.

I just saw this. It has good suspense at the beginning and then turns into Mad Max Fury Road non-stop action for the rest of it, which kind of just wore me out. There's like 2 straight hours of car chases and gunfights with these monsters that just don't die, and after a while it's like "just stop fighting them then" but the script doesn't really take the movie anywhere. It just keeps the energy as high as it can without much idea of what should happen next.

I don't know much about Korean cinema generally, but it reminded me of Train to Busan, where it's like they don't understand what a build-up and payoff is, and they try to have some epic moment every 10 minutes, which just gives it no effect. Dumb ending, too.

>>
>>223217262
By all means, see it, but most people who have seen it seem to agree that it does go on too long with action that isn't satisfying and follows the same cycle of
>monster chases
>protags shoot at monster and miss all of their shots
>monster gets close and is about to kill a protag
>protags blast it with bullets at the last moment
>monster is stunned
>monster immediately gets back up and begins chasing again
for the majority of its runtime, not to mention the CGI looks like something from 2008

Just finished. Cheap looking mid 2000s slasher about a clown with a comically oversized meat cleaver. It's so dumb and has this weird tonal dissonance where the movie overall is kind of light-hearted and comical but they go all in on the gore effects, which explains why Unearthed Films picked this up. A couple of jokey tabloid reporters are investigating a serial killer, they find him, the end. It is a little weird that it's an ultra gory slasher flick about a clown dressed in black and white that has a little girl sidekick.

Finished it, and it was the strangest thing that I've seen in a while. I give it props for them establishing the background and the motivations of everyone quite thoroughly, and even giving foreshadowing to everything that occurs.
But damn, it gave me blueballs and it also seemed bashful about the nudity it showed. The ending feels like it came out of a Roger Moore 007 film, but like the rest of the absurdity and mean spirited pranks in the movie, I somewhat enjoyed it.
It's definitely not a horror film though.

New movies need to find anyway they can to attract viewers. It's the same reason movies used to (still do?) plaster festival logos all over the place.

Just finished. It's a very tame exploitation flick where a British minimum security prison warden's hot daughter comes home from school and is trying to fuck every man she comes across. It's more like 40 convicts, it's a prison where they have gardens and auto shops and everybody walks around open air like it's a little town. The daughter eventually and briefly gets her tits out but it's otherwise a pg-13 affair, only one guy dies and that's from falling off a roof.

I did quite enjoy Steange Darling. Would be curious how it holds up on a rewatch since it being out of chronological order is kinda the whole gimmick
>>
>>223219468
Would be kinda based if it actually was making this point but didn't call attention to it at all beyond Buddy being orange
>a fat orange blonde monster runs a wacky funhouse that appeals to young kids
>actually abuses the kids, is a perverted lech when left alone with women
>is secretly a demon under his goofy exterior, kills his allies the second they question him
That people look at that and immediately go "wait is this about Drumpf???" is kinda hilarious. Like how Gremlins came out and had monsters running around chain-smoking and drinking and harassing Pheobe Cates and destroying a suburban town and people went "WELL THIS IS OBVIOUSLY ABOUT BLACK PEOPLE, HOW RACIST!"

>A secretary is introduced to the world of BDSM by her boss. She becomes his personal slave as they take a walk on the wild side of experimentations. This film is based on main actress Rinako Hirasawa’s personal experiences.
Huh?! Real experiences? This is about a girl who fucks her high school math teacher, becomes a dominatrix, then at her office job becomes her boss's slave, ends up fucking a guy also at her office as part of a cucking game, then ends up marrying the guy, after three years discovering her old boss is a homeless loser, leaves her husband and becomes his slave AGAIN, and then the whole thing is told as a story in past tense, so we assume she left him later again still.
